Have to disagree with you - best battery life of any smart phone I've ever had. I get 3 to 4 days on mine:



Granted I've only had it a few weeks (and this is coming from a 7 month old Galaxy S6 that struggled to last a day).
I can only suggest you've either got a rogue app or something or a bad battery (in which case of course send it back and get a replacement, but check all your running apps etc. to find out what's draining battery most?).

Hi. I think it depends on when you ordered it. I picked mine up Friday and they tried to charge me £280. I mentioned people getting it for £250 and she had a look on her system and although a little confused she found something saying that they were selling it for £250 when I ordered it so let me have it for that price. I think I ordered it about Tuesday last week. Anything after than that and I get the feeling you'll struggle.

I've just been instore, Abingdon in Oxfordshire, and was charged £279.95.

The pricing must be store specific, which is galling.

Just visited Argos to take advantage of this deal. To settle any confusion it is indeed £249 in store NOT including any cash back offer you may or may not want to take advantage of using Quidco.

The phone wasn't actually listed in their catalogues but when I went and asked at the till the gentleman instinctivly looked on the website and saw the £280 online price. After going with it when he began to process the sale it did scan at the till as £249.

If you go into store, they will do for free. If they do not, buy a sim cutter of eBay. I got sim cutter for under £2.

Easy to convert your micro to nano using a pair of scissors and some sandpaper (or a rough surface, just to scrape off some thickness of the plastic). Lots of pointers online for this. It's a bit of fun, too!

I bought one today instore but it was £279.99.
I had to take it back an hour later as it does not take micro sims as it says on the website.
The Nexus 5x uses Nano SIM.
EE will only post new sims and charge over £10 so not worth it.

Interesting point - our current govt have replaced the legislation on distance selling with new stuff that I'm not well-read on, but the old regs had it that if you made a purchase without the ability to inspect goods ahead of purchase, like in Argos, distance selling regs would apply, and restrictions that prevent you from inspecting and testing the goods are unenforceable. You can see the legal reasoning for that - it's hardly reasonable to have a guarantee that is void if you inspect the goods. Not much fun arguing the point with the till person, of course!

Also activated the Argos Quidco on my account and used a registered card, so should be another 10%.

Saw this thread while outside Argos. My card is already registered with Quidco and Argos registered so it should hopefully track. Didn't bother reserving just walked in, checked machine, showed as £279 so took code and walked to till, scanned at £249.95 with no mention of Quidco.

Was the last one at Leicester Fosse Park.

Also the £10 card they gave me has an expiry of 1 month if anyone thinks that's important.

I got mine on Saturday and the seal was broken. I shouldn't have accepted it but they had no more in stock. when I spoke to an online advisor they said they sometimes open boxes to check product. he said I could go in store and return it but if they're all like this I ain't going to bother! I've checked it's brand new and I'm happy with it. Now need to wait for a nano sim card so I can use it!

Staff told me nobody could have touched it as they don't accept any returns on them, once you take it home you're stuck with it.

Not sure what the deal is but i didn't like it so just took a refund there and then and walked away- i already have an open box one coming from currys.

My came unsealed. The seal was intact on the outer box only. The way the packaging is designed I guess it might be easy for the inner box to be pushed through the outer box and thus breaking the seal, hope that makes sense :confused:

Everything inside looked new, had carefully checked the phone for any fingerprints.

I notice on the google store that they mention a birthday promotion of £35 off the 5x, applied at checkout, expires on 27th March. I suspect this may be the reason for the at-checkout discount. Which is a pity for me, as I was toying with buying this and picking it up tomorrow, the 28th!

Very tempted by this until I saw it in the shop. Is the plastic demo one that has the photo image a fair representation of the quality of the phone? If so it looks too cheap for me. Personal preference. Much preferred the premium look and feel of past nexus phones.

Great phone. I got the 16gb off the eglobal thread on here for 185 delivered. Non UK stock like, and I understand they are a bit of a risk, but mine is fine. Loads of android updates at first though.

I don't know if this is a universal thing but when I popped into my local Argos (St Stephen's, Hull), I was charged £249.99 and not £279.99. I'd reserved the item on line for in store collection and payment. Although I am a member of Quidco, I did nothing to realise any kind of Quidco related discount and there was no mention of anything when I paid. That's simply the price it came up at on the till. If this does apply to all Argos stores then it could be a real bargain. This is the black, 32GB version by the way. Good luck!

hotukdeals is confusing. some deals they won't let you include quidco in the price, let alone a cash back that is post purchase. Yet they list the total savings here, which is false as the phone is still £279.
Otherwise fairly hot price, Amazon are cheaper now though.

No rogue apps. But I use my phone quite a lot on my long commute. With my Z3 compact I would get almost 2 days with a single charge. The Nexus battery instead lasts only if the phone is in standby. As soon as I start browsing and using Spotify the battery drops all of the sudden.
