Best price ever from Amazon, not a reseller etc. Been watching out for this to drop a little, would rather have Amazon customer service to fall back on :)

I have G4. Decent phone but the real reason I have it is for the camera. I like photography but got sick of lugging the SLR around on holiday. The G4 has a phenomenal camera. Here are photos I have taken, all on the G4 (hope it works) :

Exactly the same as me. My GF has the 5x and i'm constantly on the fence on upgrading or not. Camera and finger print are a real step up.

I've been looking at the nexus 5x and the lg G4 but am really confused which one to go with so any advice would be great! Both are priced at £270 (G4 with ebuyer) both can be bought via mobilephonesdirect for approx £50-70 more and that comes with a good 24 month contract but they don't have great reviews so will probably stay clear.

I had a Nexus 5 and was looking for a G4 at a good price. I've looked at a N5X but for me it's not what I expected, so I got the G4 instead. Yes there has been issues with them, early models have bootloop problems but I've been told it shouldn't effect new models, mine is a 601 serial (so built Jan 2016). I've had a couple of Nexus so to change away from them was hard. But so far I don't regret it. It's nice having a phone with a removable battery and sd card slot again. Camera is really good. I've updated mine to Marshmallow and I easily get a day and a bit out of it.

Can't you get a G4 from Vodafone for £225 still?
I have the G4 over the Nexus because I value the removable battery and the micro SD slot more than I value the software updates direct from Google.

If you plan on keeping hold of it for a while - Nexus for the no hassle, quick to appear Android updates.

Yes I do. I'd still be using my nexus 4 if I hadn't dropped it! I hear the camera in the G4 is a lot better?

The camera in the 5x is the same as the 6p I believe, which is one of the best on the market.
The wife has a 5x, and I've been hugely impressed with the image quality!

I had both for a bit at the same time and did a little comparison, couldn't tell much difference, camera on both is on par IMO (and yes, I did have both in the very same second and picked Nexus over LG, which I sold to my mate)

Yes I saw that one posted too, my local Argos hasn't a clue about customer service though so checked Amazon again and saw the price drop

Thanks bud. A lot of reviews simply say that the G4 has a better camera due to the mp count but mega pixels aren't the only factor in picture quality. Oh I just can't decide which one to go for. I posted a deal from mobile phones direct with talk mobile but it's gone freezing cold so I guess they're not a great company!? I won't bother to post a similar G4 deal

If you're after customer service, Talk Mobile are dreadful. Nice deal to, tempted.

Thanks Evouk. Looks like it's a flick of the coin job really. Some people prefer the G4 and some the nexus 5x

I've got G3, and the wife a 5X. If I were upgrading, I personally would go for the 5X, but it's each to their own. Try to get to a CPW and see how they feel in the hand. To me, the G3 felt huge with a case on it, but the wife has an official NX5 one, and I can barely notice it's there.

It will be down to which you prefer tbh. Maybe go instore like CPW and get a feel for them. Being a Nexus owner the 'stock android' is nice and i do like it over LGs own interface but it's not that bad compared to Touchwiz on Samsungs (though I'm sure it's better than it used to be). But I just use Nova prime with Marshmallow icons and it just looks like stock again. But if you like different themes and fonts then the LG interface allows you to change this. But I'd agree with a previous post about the camera. I personally haven't used it that much yet but in manual you do have full control of everything you need to take a great picture.

Some cool pics Wakey. I'm a photographer and know exactly what you mean with dslr. Going to do a bit more research on the camera and then probably choose the phone with the best one. Thanks

You do not have to lug an SLR around for good quality photos Olympus Pen and similar models from Panasonic etc give excellent results with interchangeable lenses.

awesome deal - Thanks for posting.
wife's power switch broke on older model last week. was browsing and nearly ordered grey import for only £30 less than this. much better to get from UK supplier (even though they're probably paying less tax than the grey importer)

the build is plastic with flimsy volume and power buttons, battery doesn't last that long and it is big for the pocket. there is no expandable memory support. so I think Motorola phones are better value for money if you want stock android.

I'm one of those with a bootloop issue. LG are now replaced faulty units. Imported mine from Asia, but they've said if none in stock the firm I bought from is just going to refund me.. will probably still look at buying another G4 - you are correct about newer models being 'safe'.

Any G4 with the serial number from 510 onwards have the fix applied.

I tried to get one from Vodafone but they only get a very small stock in from time to time so unless luck is very much on your side forget it. Ended up buying one from Amazon.

I ordered this last night and it arrived today on prime. coming from Nexus 4 then moto g 4g 1st gen it is a bit bigger than i'm used to but getting monthly updates is great and it is working nicely with my Sony swr50. I think there is value in the security updates for me to justify the premium and at this price it has just come into the price point to justify an upgrade over the usual candidates.

Yes tried that. I have also a Samsung NX with a 20mm pancake lens. Still doesn't come anywhere near as convenient as the G4, and despite the lens alone costing me nearly £200, the quality isn't noticeably better than the G4. The G4 really excels with its F1.8- rarely is the flash needed. The tunnel pic which looks like a set from a Saw movie (not taken on a holiday by the way-ha) was taken in low light.

Doesn't Amazon stuff (apart from Kindle) just come with 30 days' return policy, then they stone wall and tell you to deal with the manufacturer? I returned a toaster to Argos at 11 months, just walked in and got a no-quibble swap.

There is no way ANY phone can give the same quality of a good camera. OK for "snapshots" but you need to able to have full control of aperture (do you know what depth of field is?) and speed settings. Who would buy photoshop to use with a phone? Canon, Nikon, Olympus, Leica etc make quality cameras and do not bother with phones.....

The trusty old D60 hasn't had a look in since we've had a G4 with us.

Of course I know what aperture and depth of field are. I was into photography aged 16, 30 years ago, and even had a darkroom. You have a great manual mode on the G4.
