Defo pay the £5 extra at John Lewis just so you don't need to deal with the muppets in Curry's/PC world if it becomes faulty.

I take it the connection to the keyboard is just magnets and the screen won't hold up without the kick stand out? Got a Surface RT and its useless when on the lap. Thanks for any info.

The screen clips onto the keyboard and there is a release button to take it out. When it's separated its like a normal tablet so won't be able to stand up. Hope that helps

Thanks bought a sandisk one from argos this morning just installed and as you say works fine, annoying that they say only supports upto 64gb when it clearly supports more.

Has anyone tried a 128gb Micro SD card in one of these? says supports upto 64gb but usually can go higher. I found online the older Miix 3 which also says up 64gb supports 128gb so wondering if this will too.

yes, I have had a 128GB class 10 mSD card for months and it's worked a treat
what about connecting a bluetooth speaker?
Nothing wrong with bluetooth speakers, but the point of having a tiny convertible like this is that you can take it everywhere. Having to remembe to carry a separate speaker and connect to it wherever you settle is just a bit annoying, even with a tiny speaker like I normally use
(Adin 10W vibration speaker - can't recommend it enough).
yeah true, I've noticed watching some videos on youtube the volume is really low even when I have my volume all the way up, annoying!

I am glad to report that having said the Miix is too quiet, I decided to have one last go before actually sending it back and I am pleased that I did. I installed Viper4Windows (note: DFX Audio Enhancer also works - but can't be hidden when running unless you pay £20 for it) which has boosted the sound. It is now as loud as my old iPad, though it is somewhat less bassy, so it must be an issue with the drivers rather than a hardware limitation. I'm now really pleased with my Miix.

Fantastic mini laptop/tablet. Almost exactly the same as my ancient Aspire One, but thinner and faster and with better battery life but ... the volume is so quiet that it just doesn't work for me as a tablet. Even lying in bed in a quiet house the volume is too low to watch a film comfortably. Forget it if there is any other noise going on, like people talking or a kettle boiling. So I've had to send mine back. A real shame, as it's a rubbish reason to have to reject such a nice bit of kit. The only other issue I've got is that plugging/unplugging the screen is not recognised by Windows, so you have to swap to tablet mode manually.
