This is a brilliant phone, now sub £90.
I bought one when it was at £110 about 6 months ago and it's been excellent.
I rooted it and put cyanogen mod on it.
I'll add the link on how to do it in a later post.
See specs below
And yes it lacks the 800mhz 4g band :)

Have both, the Lenovo has much better camera, plenty of roms to choose from and overall is faster, the Vodafone on the other hand has nfc (if you need it), 800mhz LTE band and better gps (significantly lower battery consumption).
I did try the cyanogenmod but there were some issues with unresponsive screen, installed vibeui 1609 Lemonade (android 6.0) - so far so good.

As 7777777 stated, I also own both, I bought the Vodafone Smart ultra 6 first and it is a lovely phone but lags in a lot of games. I wanted a dual sim anyway and when the Lenovo K3 Note went on offer before Christmas for around £80 from Gearbest's EU warehouse I read up about it and watched some benchmark vids. It was a no-brainer upgrade. For reference, the Vodafone Smart ultra 6 gets an Antutu benchmark score of around 27k, the Lenovo K3 Note gets around 46k, though in some roms can get as high as 50k and is currently the 13th highest score of ALL handsets detailed within the app, which I assume means the 13th highest of those handsets with enough scores submitted to take a reliable average scoring.
NFC on the Vodafone is the only thing I miss, the Lenovo is far better for games, no lagging whatsoever, dual sim allows me to run a Giffgaff sim for calls and texts and Freedompop for data. There are far more options for roms on the Lenovo (I am currently on the latest stable VibeUI based Cuoco, but think I prefer the Greeshan VibeUI based roms) and it has a strong community support on xda, along with WEEKLY official dev cycle updates which you can swap to or regular (currently about every two months) official stable updates.
I would recommend checking out the handset on delivery and then once you are satisfied it is working fine, flashing one of the most recent roms on xda. I do recommend against the Marshmallow roms for now, it is only on the dev cycle at the moment, but will release stable in about a month so may as well wait for that. I can understand peoples want for the latest rom, but a lot of people trying it seem to not realise it is still technically a beta, there will be glitches. If you want the phone to function completely as it should do stick to the stable roms.

Could you comment further on the GPS on the K3 please. Is it merely thirsty for battery or are there issues, slow to lock on, inaccurate etc?
7777777
4 Mar 16#14
Thirsty for battery with screen on (I do not know why tbh as the phone lets you browse Internet for decent amount of time and the battry life is good) . Usually quick to lock and accurate but reliability depends on rom (tried probably 10+) and it has failed me on few occasions.
This is a very good and fast phone but you MUST be prepared for rooting, roms replacements etc. , otherwise buy Vodafone.

Writing this from my k3 note. Have just been running for 50 minutes including music and GPS with runkeeper. Battery 89%, so no problem there. GPS is less accurate than previous iPhone 5, but good enough for day to day usage, not an issue. Bluetooth for music can stutter.
Phone was very average until I updated ROM to VIBEUI_V3.0_1544_7.303.1_DEV_K50-T5_WC18 (whatever that is!). I would have given bad review without the update. Have not bothered messing with ROMs since, but will when a stable marshmallow is out...sounds like may be time to look.
Things I would like are fingerprint reader (lock out blooming kids), more battery, often low at end of day. K4 note has those...but also interested in ulefone power, or even homtom ht6. Would like the voice recognition activated all the time which does need a great battery, don't mind it being a bit of a brick.
I tell people it is half as good as an iPhone, but only 1/6 of the price...and have really enjoyed my 6 months with it so far.
May consider iPhone again when they are more water resistant (oops) and have a proper 2 day battery. IPhone 7s...??? My wife is still very happy with her iPhone 5 after 3 and half years, which makes the up front cost reasonable if considering 4-5 years of use.

how is this compare to Xiaomi Note 2 (prime), in the real world usage? Thanks
nige182 to HotDealAlert
4 Mar 16#28
Technically the Xiaomi Redmi Note 2 Prime has a better processor. However, in real world usage there would be very little in it either way. There is virtually nothing in it in the Youtube Antutu scores, with this generally getting 46k and the Redmi Note 2 Prime getting 45k-49k (I have had 50k out of some roms for the K3 Note, but I think all the Youtube scores I found for both handsets were with the older Antutu 5.7.1 rather than version 6).
Generally people seem to suggest the Redmi Note 2 and Prime are better, but when looking for custom roms and Marshmallow roms for the Redmi Note 2 Prime, I was coming up far shorter than the K3 Note and there didn't seem to be as many rom releases by Xiaomi themselves either. I think support for the handset is a big thing to consider if you intend to keep it for a while.

I haven't tried the GPS myself, but 7777777 suggested earlier it is adequate but a bit of a battery drainer (I am guessing it isn't as strong as some other devices so draws more on the battery to try and get a lock). As for the camera, at first I thought the snaps were pretty poor (taken indoors in medium light), then I took some snaps in good lighting which I thought were quite good. I think in good lighting the camera is good, no award winner but reasonable. In lower lighting there is a little bit of a blur to the screen when taking snaps, which probably is what affects the quality a bit, maybe if you can stabilise it somehow you would get a good picture. The flash is surprisingly good, as it doubles as a pretty damn good torch, I still prefer a Xenon flash, but so few devices have these now due to the battery drain (why? seriously the flash is on for a second, it isn't on all the time like the screen, who cares if it drains a bit more power).

Both myself and son have had this phone since July and are using the stock ROW ROM (can't be bothered messing about with custom stuff as they all appear to have some sort of problem just as this does).
I have noticed that the GPS has become very sluggish recently and no idea why and it can sometimes take a couple of minutes to lock. In contrast, my wife's Vibe Shot with a Snapdragon processor, locks on within seconds and sees about twice the number of satellites (about 25!).
I recently also received my first 4G signal as O2 has started putting up masts that don't use band 20 (800Hz).
I have a tempered glass screen protector, though the glass is reported to be the Asahi version of Gorilla glass 3 ("dragontail"- certainly the sensors are reported as Asahi).
Despite the minor complaints, it has really been a great phone, and even better at this price considering the exchange rate.

That seems to be the case with all Chinese grey market phones. Even the ones with ios, double tone flashes, the ones using the same Sony sensors as recent flagships. In good light a lot of them can produce decent results but as the sun sets/, you move indoors the quality suffers. I currently own xiaomi Redmi note 2 and it's a nice phone but the camera suffers from Chinese phone camera syndrome.

4 Mar 16#44
I have one and I really wouldn't recommend it, even at this price. The camera is absolutely woeful, no matter what other reviews seem to say. It takes ages to focus on anything and most quick shots end up looking like a blurry mess.
Even if you're not too bothered about the camera you'd still be a lot better off spending a bit more on something like the Xiaomi Redmi Note 2.

If you are a novice like me when it comes to rooting and putting on a custom rom, here is the method i used. It's really easy and only uses free apps, so no connection to a computer is needed.
Had this phone for 6 months'ish, really good phone, use the GPS daily, never had a problem, camera isn't the best, but is OK, am looking for a replacement as I've cracked my screen, but I'm a tradesman so it gets some rough treatment. Will go for a metal framed phone this time, this is all plastic and I need something more substantial.
Apart from all that, I would recommend it, looks great in yellow!

If you can live without the peace of mind of a UK warranty I can highly recommend this handset.
As previously mentioned in this thread, there are countless roms for it - I am currently using one called Nexus 8 and it makes the phone blazingly fast - http://www.needrom.com/download/nexus-8/ Ran an Antuntu test and got close to 50,000. No double tap to wake on this rom or LED support, but workaround for the latter using Light Flow.
Xposed works fine as well, and there are no network issues for me (using Three).
I wasn't sure about the yellow colour at first, but now I am used to it I think it is pretty cool - if you are comfortable making fashion statements (which I am)!
GPS performance can be improved using the glonass fix in the OP here:
Overall for the price you are getting a great phone for the money, but to really get the value you do need to put a bit of effort in yourself with custom roms etc. - but there is a lot of help out there and support for this handset.

Got the Lenovo K3 for the missus about 6 months ago and would offer the following advice...... if you're going to root this phone then it will probably be fine. If not, be warned that it will most likely be loaded with all sorts of Chinese bloatware that can't be removed without rooting and makes the phone fairly buggy with random freezes and regular slowdown of apps. Camera isn't very good indoors either.

There is a review (somewhere, can't find it now) which does a detailed analysis and has it rated as one of the best out there, even comparing with much more expensive phones. Additionally, due to Lenovo's buying power, the RAM and ROM chips are of superior quality which is why it scores so well in the tests (there is a Youtube showing the dismantling of the phone and examination of the chips).
Here's a decent review, but not the one that I was looking for; addresses screen and GPS

I purchased this handset recently and was impressed by the speed (octa core, 2GB RAM) and functionality however there were a few concerns from my point of view…
Issue 1. Data Connection - Even though I'm on the three network, I hardly got any 4G speeds. My Moto G 4G, beat this every time I did speed tests on the mobile data. (maybe the one I had was faulty)
Issue 2. The volume output was really low and tinny, it felt as though something was blocking the speakers. However when I compared my handset with my work colleague, I did notice this was normal. (don't expect anything spectacular…My Moto g 4G was louder!)
One thing that was exceptional was the sound quality though the headphone port, made a cheap pair of headphones sound like very expensive ones.
I ended up returning mine for a refund.
Would I but one again, my answer is no. (maybe using a different rom would have cured the issues mentioned above, but to me it was a pain as I had 7 days before I could return back to seller in original condition and get my money back.)
I'm gonna stick with my moto g 4g which tethers with Three perfectly fine without issues.

Hi All,
Me and my partner have both had this phone for around 10 months and for the first 8 months they both worked perfectly, it was a great phone... We both have a ROM on there that is fast with all the bloatware removed.
The problem being now is that the touch screen on both of them "touches itself" and my partners one is barely usable. My touch screen has completely stopped responding full stop... So me being silly got it replaced with the same phone and this one is now only 2 months old and is "touching itself".
On all 3 phones, every single one has had a dead spot on the screen in the bottom right hand corner also, which if you have a google around it seems EVERYBODY has this problem and it is a design fault.
Don't buy it, you will be disappointed before Christmas I promise you that!

I HATE this phone! I had it for about 5 months and had to get rid
The battery drains EXTREMELY quick and so I had a spare but both would last just over a day for the 2 of them
There is a common fault where the responsiveness around the edge of the screen stops working. And so if you are typing a message, you can no longer press the letters and the only way to deal with this is restarting your phone
There is also serious lag at time - even when all apps are closed
The camera shutter time is extremely poor and SO MANY photo/video opportunities are missed because of this
As it is dual sim, I could not use the ThreeInTouch app
There is just 1 fault after the other with this phone and I suggest to AVOID

Mine come from gearbest, and yes ALL of the phones have this manufacturing fault. Time will tell.

Has anyone recieved theirs yet? I ordered one and it was only just this morning marked as 'Awaiting Shipment'!
I mean why would it take nearly 2 weeks to put a box inside another box and affix a label?
I stupidly didn't check reviews before I ordered like I normally do and found this site to be very unreliable.

Lots, I use the latest stock stable 5.1 rom, removed of bloatware, with Gapps and root by one of the respected members, but feel free to browse here: xda-developers
Has anyone experience noon responsive screen issues? I have to keep locking and unlocking the screen to get the screen to respond again!

It could be the rom, what rom have you put on it?

I have this phone. No problems with the screen until I put a screen protector on it. It then developed dead spots and randomly 'pressed' itself. I took the screen protector off and the problem went.

What type of screen protector? I have heard of other people having similar trouble on various handsets with certain protectors. I personally have a toughened glass screen protector, the cheapest glass one I could find shipped from China and have had no issues with touchscreen at all.

A month ago or more, we bought one, and still waiting for delivery, no contacts with the supplier, could anyone message me if knows how to get in touch with focal price , thanks a lot
Opening post
I bought one when it was at £110 about 6 months ago and it's been excellent.
I rooted it and put cyanogen mod on it.
I'll add the link on how to do it in a later post.
See specs below
And yes it lacks the 800mhz 4g band :)

I did try the cyanogenmod but there were some issues with unresponsive screen, installed vibeui 1609 Lemonade (android 6.0) - so far so good.
Great phone..everything runs nice and quick
eBay has cases
Samsung chargers (higher amps) charges the phone nice and quick
Now that sounds even more interesting that a custom ROM. I will see how much I can drink before I become incapable of installing a new ROM.
(disclaimer - i've never spent over £130 on a phone )

This is a very good and fast phone but you MUST be prepared for rooting, roms replacements etc. , otherwise buy Vodafone.
It seems to be very much like the Samsung Galaxy note.
May have to buy one...
- does Xpose framework work on the Lenovo K3 note?
thanks
- depends on rom, usually it does
Generally people seem to suggest the Redmi Note 2 and Prime are better, but when looking for custom roms and Marshmallow roms for the Redmi Note 2 Prime, I was coming up far shorter than the K3 Note and there didn't seem to be as many rom releases by Xiaomi themselves either. I think support for the handset is a big thing to consider if you intend to keep it for a while.
Mine does, works fine on 4G on Three
http://www.needrom.com/download/cuoco92-1610-vibeui-3-1/

For low light areas yes, its fine outdoors
Even if you're not too bothered about the camera you'd still be a lot better off spending a bit more on something like the Xiaomi Redmi Note 2.
Apart from the camera there isn't really anything else that's bad about the phone.
Just what? Did you think that through before you typed it?

Apart from all that, I would recommend it, looks great in yellow!

Here's a decent review, but not the one that I was looking for; addresses screen and GPS
http://www.gizchina.com/2015/07/08/lenovo-k3-note-review-best-mt6752-device-date/
Ferrari and Ford Focus. Not a fair comparison. If you get a new hTC M8 at twice this price, snap it up.
This one will probably last a month then get bust..
But personal choice..
COLD from me, sorry
I put Google Now Launcher on my P8 Lite and it runs very well and I've found the battery life decent.
iPhones will last 4 times longer therefore will pay for themselves over time..
The comments on the ROM and processor issues speak for themselves..
I'll get my coat..
COI: Apple fan
The BBC iPlayer issue relates only to live TV not catch up shows. I find filmon to be better for live streaming anyway so not an issue for me.
Also, I think there's a field somewhere missing an iSheep....
As for the iSheep, it will be able to finds its own way back using its own internal GPS - so don't worry too much..
Don't buy it, you will be disappointed before Christmas I promise you that!
http://gadgets.ndtv.com/lenovo-k3-note-2529-vs-apple-iphone-6-plus-1974
My point ? Having more sense than money is a good thing !
I got an Asus which was the same price and is far superior, really brilliant check Asus phones before getting this
I mean why would it take nearly 2 weeks to put a box inside another box and affix a label?
I stupidly didn't check reviews before I ordered like I normally do and found this site to be very unreliable.
Android 6.0 stable release is due out next month.
Don't need nfc yet in the UK.
