Description:

Introducing the KitSound™ Pixel

As well as giving you access to hundreds of digital and analogue stations, the KS Pixel DAB/FM radio is ultra portable and has an alarm function too.

More Music

Our Pixel DAB/FM radio has a dual alarm with the option to wake up to the radio or a buzzer and a sleep and snooze function, but it's much more than just an alarm. Giving you access to hundreds of digital stations, the Pixel provides a wider selection of music, with up to 10 presets for ultimate convenience.

Easy to Use

Extremely easy to use, you don't need to worry about remembering wavelengths and frequencies or fine tuning a station to get the best reception - simply choose the name of the station from the Pixel's LCD display.

Ultra Portable

Thanks to its tiny size and the fact that it has up to 8 hours of battery life, the Pixel is ultra portable, so you can wake up happy wherever you are.

The KitSound Pixel

Unsurprisingly, waking up to music in the morning can put you in a better mood than waking up to a buzzer. Say good morning with the KitSound Pixel.

About KitSound

This is an actual picture of my DAB radio I got from Morrison's a couple years ago. I hardly used it but I was doing some decorating last week, so I thought OK I hate DAB and that radio, but I'll give it a go, as you can see it was a frustrating experience that led me to destroy the very radio I'd paid £14.99 for. The two factors that caused me to insert a hammer in to it are as follows:

1. DAB is a completely hopeless digital radio implementation, so bad I hit my radio with a hammer
2. The menu system on the radio was as badly implemented as DAB, in the end it was too much and out came the hammer.

http://i.imgur.com/wYyeBOT.jpg

Looks like I'd already hated on the radio before in this post some 5+ months ago, so it was overdue for death.

http://www.hotukdeals.com/deals/kitsound-pixel-mini-portable-dab-radio-alarm-clock-pink-blue-9-99-ebay-uktotallygadgets-2285791

I've looked for the manual for the Kitsound Pixel on their website and they couldn't be bothered to list one, so I'd be wary. If this is as difficult to use as that Lowry crap I killed off then this is £9.99 wasted, well it's wasted anyway as DAB is CRAP!

So you had a bad experience 2 years ago bought a DAB radio from morrisons which didn't work as you'd hoped then smashed it up with a hammer.

2 years down the line you rant on any deal that involves a DAB radio or at least it seems' hating others because you bought a lemon.

Not sure I follow your logic their but eh if this post helps you let off steam even though the two are completely unconnected then fill your boots

I've got one and they're perfectly fine. I've got it plugged in in the kitchen and it does me perfectly if I'm in there. As long as you don't expect anything major, you can't go wrong for a tenner.

Picked mine up from local Argos today. Seems fine.

It does come with a mains adaptor.

Not tried the alarm yet but it does a job.
It is a £10 DAB radio, thats 3 pints in the local.

I am happy so far and at that price if it is still working in 3 months then it is a great deal.

dab sucks, has the potential but lots of radio stations broadcast mono and/or with low bitrate. my dab radio shows the bitrate but I don't need to look, I can hear.

if you buy a dab radio buy one with an internet connection, lots of good stations broadcasting in full quality.

Arrived today, can't complain at all for a tenner, quite small, nice rubberised feel to it, sound quality surprisingly good, doesn't distort at full volume (which is far from ear bleedingly loud tbh but it didn't promise to be). Decent ability to pick up stations and came with a power supply.

Cheers for the spot OP!

I got one of these last week and it's surprisingly good.It even picks up the new national multiplex upstairs which doesn't cover this area. It doesn't do DAB+ which a couple of the new stations use. Sound quality is better than expected for such a tiny set.
One negative (for me) is that the output from headphone jack is mono even on the stereo stations. I planned to use this on my desk at work with headphones but was being too optimistic to expect it to be stereo! So it's been relegated to the bathroom radio but still pleased with it.

I've had one of these for a few months. Menu is rubbish but once you've got it tuned it's fine. The volume knob on mine is hyper-sensitive but the sound is far superior to my Sony DAB radio which cost twice as much. Hot for a tenner.

I am using a Roberts pocket dab at the moment in my trouser pocket and is picking up radio 2 dab perfectly,if on fm there is hiss. This while sitting in a terrace first floor.
Get 12 hours on Dab with the volume on full with rechargable batteries and its dab+ as a few others are so if it does hopefully become available many radios bought now will be ok for the dab+.

Returned after 2 weeks as my duracell batteries lasted 2 days with it on standby then it couldnt pick up my favourite DAB station. The only good point was that I got a refund without a quibble. Poor quality.
Toxic_Waste to redxena

Off course your Duracell batteries only lasted two days...It's a DAB radio!
DAB radios eat batteries, that's why most people use rechargeables or a mains adaptor.

I got one of the kit sound revive for £5 from Vodafone deal last time, I use it as my work radio all the time, the fact it takes normal AA battery and has a good signal nearly everywhere in the factory makes it fantastic. Just make sure you guys use rechargeable batteries as DAB chews through them.

Just because you had a duff one it doesn't mean they are all rubbish!! I have had them in every room at home and my caravan at Hayling Island since they first came out. I love them. The reception is excellent and you don't have to keep retuning them when they go off station like the old ones do. Go for it you won't be disappointed.

You need to hit the BBC with a hammer, as it's their fault we are stuck on crappy 1990s-tech DAB and the rest of Europe has the far better implementation DAB+.
The difference between the two is night and day, despite only having a '+'.

Thanks, BBC.
This, and Top Gear. Seriously.

There are some trials for DAB+ in the UK going on - but with the government practically forcing DAB onto everyone over the past few years, saying it's such a great idea, a move to DAB+, rendering ALL of those "I didn't know what to get you for Christmas so here's a DAB radio" purchases completely useless (DAB sets can't access DAB+), they refuse to back the trials currently.

I've got two of these radios from the last time they were listed on this site. Slightly different design as mine are square, but they work well. I had a problem with one of them to start with but they sent a replacement in no time. Can't complain with DAB for £10 - I use a spare wemo so that it comes on as an alarm and goes off later as the menu isn't very intuitive but once you have it set up on your favourite radio station (absolute for me) you don't think of it again. It just works.

Well I totally share your actions on this piece of junk. I got mine from Tesco for less than a tenner when it was posted here about a month ago. How this piece of **itsound kit was able to pass quality control to even qualify for being able classed a DAB radio is beyond me. At best it keeps a signal for 15 seconds before dropping out, at worst you spend 10 minutes finding a location where it will even pick up a signal to start with.

Kitsound are the worst manufacturer bar none, I bought one of there fan heaters last year, it only worked once, kitsound customer services are none existent and Currys/PCWorld should be ashamed to carry this tat

Bought the £5 deal last time. Did not pick up an stations.... almost. Buttons got stuck in depressed position. Quality was dire. Contacted supplier and they provided postage process to return faulty item and sent me a replacement that is working fine. Happy for £5 spent last time on the non-alarm version.

Purchased on of these based on the positive experience with dealing with supplier.

Just don't expect £30 worth of kit if you're spending a tenner and you should be pleasantly surprised I hope.

I used to get "bubbling mud" on and off for a looong time with 6Music but it seems to be okay now, over the past year or so (in a city centre area). Not sure what's happening with DAB+, which is supposedly on the way.
