The double bucket is not a good choice !! it is one bucket and a slot in small bucket on the top!! we didn't get any popcorn chicken - not good value for sharing!! bring back the 5.99 offer it was much better and plenty of people in our local shop agree - whilst I was there several walked in and then walked out when they saw the offer had changed!!

FIFTEEN QUID?
WTF do people eat this ****?

Crap in a bucket? I can do that for free!

And we 'wonder' why we have an obesity crisis? All this **** food for the lazy who seemingly can't cook. Although to be fair, we seem to have everyone working every hour god sends now, so I suppose many are left with so little time, they have no choice.

As for all the halal arguing. This is (WAS!) the UK. We didn't used to have halal practised on any real scale, so 'why' is it now?
Think about it... everything is being slowly eroded. It's called the 'drip' process. Drip, drip, drip... you never really notice anything happening, but it is happening in the front of your eyes. Eventually, you will notice. Sadly, then it's usually too late.
Personally, I don't give a f. This country is now full of wet behind the ears idiots, the country is run by idiots, the country has an obesity problem that is out of hand but eventually that will sort one problem out: living longer will become living shorter.
Carry on. Fill yourself from your bucket, and don't forget to wash it down with a couple pints of ...coke! It's f. hilarious this country now. I just came back from town this morning and it's like Billy Bunter is everywhere. I bet Frank Richards (Charles Hamilton) would be amazed that his fictional character is now real, alive (well, just!) and waddling everywhere! LOL
Yep, keep on bucketing. :stuck_out_tongue: YUK!!!

Is there anywhere I can get some chicken which has been strung up and had it's throat cut without being stunned whilst someone reads the Lord's Prayer?? No? Thank f***. Food and religion don't mix - animal welfare during slaughter should be the only consideration.
midnightz to APJ666
9 Mar 16 1 #167
All the halal chicken you get at KFC IS stunned.

Animal welfare is precisely why the halal method of slaughter was developed as it was deemed to be the most humane method, causing the animal the least amount of distress.
moneyforme
9 Mar 16 2 #166
Stunning in Halal is used primarily to immobilise the animal, it is not intended to induce unconsciousness.

Halal causes an acute stress response aka, fight or flight.

Increased levels of Cortisol and Catecholamines the bodies natural defence against stress, can be used as indicators.

Do you deny the fact that cattle will suffer for over 2 minutes until they finally lose consciousness?

I am openly supportitive of a ban on ALL ritual slaughter which includes Kosher.

We have regulations and laws for a reason, if any non-halal abattoir killed animals like this they would rightly be closed and prosecuted.

So for your simple ignorant mind, YES, Halal and Kosher slaughter MUST be made illegal in the UK.
nomez
9 Mar 16 2 #165
Lol, you are asking me for studies yet only show me a newspaper clipping? Laughable. Might be missing it but it doesn't have any references on where it got its figures from.

You are clearly against Halal slaughter yet fail to mention how captive bolt isn't as reliable as people make out either and that during mass slaughter, the competency of the slaughterer matters as if correct contact isn't made then the animal will come back round to consciousness. By then its too late and off to the 'sticking' section it goes which might I add is also a throat slit.

https://www.vegsoc.org/sslpage.aspx?pid=562

http://www.grandin.com/ritual/questions.diff.stun.methods.html

84% of Halal slaughtered animals were stunned prior to the ritual whereas Kosher, there is nil % otherwise it isn't considered Kosher which is fine if that's their belief.

http://www.rspca.org.uk/adviceandwelfare/farm/slaughter/religiousslaughter

There are also studies regarding ECG tests and the western (captive bolt) method versus the halal slaughter and it showed the Halal slaughter was more humane however that study is rather dated.

I like your copout of spoon feeding. If you make a statically claim or any other for that matter, any rational person would expect you to back that up, nothing to do with spoon feeding.

Im not bothered by how the animal is slaughtered, as other have said, in these chains the animal is always going to be mistreated and there is nothing humane about death, nothing at all. Death is death whether by boiling pigs, captive bolt to the head or religious slaughter. Become a vegetarian if you are so concerned with animal welfare which I doubt you are. Seems you have a underlying issue with people who have a specific religion so I would say you are the sick one.
moneyforme
9 Mar 16 #164
Do you have studies to prove that animals don't suffer?

Do your own research, I am not here to spoon feed you.

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/religion/11378667/Sharp-rise-in-halal-abattoirs-slaughtering-animals-without-stunning-them-first.html

Take your argument up with the Telegraph.

Deny it all you like, it proves nothing, Halal is sick and barbaric.

Are you serious?

So you eat Halal meat but don't want to eat it? What is your objection? Animal welfare or just prejudice against a belief system? Cant be the former otherwise you wouldn't be eating at places like BK, KFC or the likes as how do you think the chicken lived when your paying a few quid for it?

And I don't think your being forced to eat it either, certain branches will be labelled Halal and the others wont be. So if you don't fancy eating it on that day then you don't have to JUST like if a Jew or Muslim were after their respected meat, they wouldn't eat in a place that didn't serve it.

STOP LYING.

Killing without stunning is on the rise due to muslims demanding it.

2015 saw a 60 per cent rise.

Cattle take 2 minutes to pass out.

That is 2 minutes of terror, pain and suffering.

Halal is sick and by virtue you are sick for demanding it.

Do some research - when the vein on the throat is slit, the animal dies very quickly.

Also, when the throat is slit the majority of the blood drains out - unlike when the animal is shot.

Therefore halal/koscher is more hygenic.

Not all things from the past are bad so I disagree with your 21st century comment. Not everything needs reform.
midnightz
8 Mar 16 2 #157
Who is forcing anyone?
Unsurprisingly, the only people forced to eat halal food are Muslims. There are approx 784 KFC branches in the UK, of which 96 are halal; that's about 12% of units. For those wanting non-halal for whatever reason (racists or otherwise) they have 688 other branches to choose from.

Too many people are oblivious and brainwashed
I suspect the only people that are oblivious and brainwashed are clearly those who harbour ill-feeling towards halal food based on irrational fears about something they remain ignorant of and fail to educate themselves about.

I aint racist either, I have many Muslim friends and eat halal when I go to Indian food as this is their tradition and religion and I expect that, I wouldn't expect nothing else. But for the non-muslim why should they be forced to eat meat on a day to day basis that has been slaughtered and blessed by Allah. Put the shoe on the other foot... Would Muslims or jews eat non-halal meat.
I'm done with this as I'm right and too many people are oblivious or brainwashed.

Whilst it's easy to reel off Trumpisms such as 'religion is everything that is wrong with the world today' it isn't backed up by the evidence:

The animal has not suffered more than necessary
Why so scared of "Religious dogma" and "blessings"?
Why should it matter to an atheist what random words were uttered when the animal was killed? Whether the slaughterer says 'Tellytubbies eh-oh' or recites a religious verse should surely make no difference as they are merely words.

Firstly, Islam is a religion not a race. You can be any colour you like from any country you like and still be a Muslim, so it's not racism. I'm an atheist like many people in this day and age and also think it's a backwards step by the food industry opting into making meat Halal to "include" Muslims. Sikhs can't eat blessed meat so they are excluded by this "political correctness". Halal as well as Kosher has always been available to buy for those that eat it and it always will be without it being thrust upon you in restaurants and takeaways. I personally don't eat it as I hate having religious dogma attached to my food, especially knowing the animal has suffered more than necessary. We are a 21st century secular society and "blessing" of food is a backwards step. Everyone has their own right to eat what they want, which is why people eat it and avoid it. I avoid Kosher for the same reasons as Halal. I don't discriminate. I can see the vegan and vegetarian views on the animal being killed regardless but religious slaughter does cause the animal to suffer more. I only buy free range eggs for the same reason. People who choose NOT to eat it aren't racist or bigots!

Do they tickle the animals to death in an abattoir? How do you think our forefathers use to dispatch chickens and beasts for consumption? With all due respect, you're killing an animal to eat it, the moral high ground doesn't work unless you're vegetarian or better yet vegan. Perhaps before claiming your way of killing an animal is more "ethical" than another, you should try killing an animal with your own hands and then eating it, see what feels barbaric.

FYI I'm not vegetarian, just making a point.

8 Mar 16 2 #126

Out of curiosity do these halal haters also feel the same about kosher food? It seems to be more of a hatred/fear of Muslims than a concern for animal welfare.
Halal and kosher methods of slaughter are arguably slightly more painful but even with regular stunning the animal faces major stress in the journey to the abattoir and when they arrive due to the smell of blood and shrieks of other animals. If people are that fussed about it then they should campaign for stunning of all animals.
If you care about animal welfare then reducing or giving up meat consumption is the best thing to do.

Absolutely agree that not all chicken is fried equal and that KFC is expensive but completely disagree with your assertion it is bottom. I have never tried any other that could be classed in the same league; wings are always a terrible choice, wherever they are purchased from and I'm not sure exactly what you mean by chilli and mayonnaise but their supercharger sauce is amazing.

you do know that story is fake

EDL falls for fake ‘hot cross buns without crosses’ article

Oh dear. Right wing group the English Defence League seems to have fallen for a fake article about a bakery removing the crosses from hot cross buns in case they offended anyone.

It was posted by spoof news website Southend News Network, and shared on the EDL London Division Facebook page yesterday with the angry commentary: ‘Hot cross buns without a cross. Well that’s just a bun. We must not upset the Islamic invaders must we?’ The original joke article claimed a ‘fundamentalist maths teacher’ raised the alarm because the crosses might confuse children learning the difference between addition and multiplication.

A storm in a tea cup, should have labelled a currant bun as a currant bun in accordance with all currant buns not sold on Good Friday. That was how it was when I grew up, where we only say "hot cross" during Easter. Likewise you wouldn't label plain fried rice with no egg as "egg fried rice" (fried with no egg).

8 Mar 16 #81
Surely, the evolution of buns for thousands of years since buns were made with dried fruit, was just fruity buns. Then one day in the distant past, a bright spark baker decided to celebrate "Good Friday". The rest of the year was fruit (currant) buns withiut the "hot cross". So it is no explosive news that it is normal to have fruit buns. The analogy of anger is like you go to a takeaway to order egg fried rice without egg, why would you call it egg fried rice when it has no egg? Likewise, a currant bun with a hot cross is called a hot cross bun, you shouldn't name and sell a current bun without its hot cross as a "hot cross bun without hot cross". A storm in a tea cup is this situation.

KFC is nowhere near as good as it used to be years ago. The KFC by me serve stone cold, limp soggy fries and luke warm (if your lucky) chicken. I just don't bother going anymore. Yet when I have got to their competitors at least the food is hot.

A bakery in Southend has upset a number of people in the local community by launching Hot Cross Buns WITHOUT a cross on them – the managing director has said that this ‘difficult decision’ was taken to ensure that nobody in the community gets offended by the cake over the next few weeks.

Dunno why people try compare chicken shops to kfc ots nowhere near as nice! If you're gonna eat fast food you may aswell eat decent fast food. Eating more lower class crap isnt worth it youll wish you had a kfc at the end of it but will need starve a month to get rid of the calories lol.

hewittinspain to seanmorris100
8 Mar 16 1 #67
kfc just isnt as nice as it used to be, period. In the early 80s when it was called Kentucky Fried Chicken (as opposed to KFC) the seasoning on the chicken was just tastier and it was a lighter colour but over time and changes to maybe the oil they now use it has lost its intense flavour. Also most kfc's emply kids now and with a much wider range on their menu to 30yrs ago the care and attention to their chicken pieces has gone out of the window. Last few times ive been there ive been served chicken thats been stood for ages and dried out and undercooked chicken where ive had to complain so I rarely bother now. There is a takeaway near me that does it twice as nice as kfc.

I seem to recall this being said a couple of months ago with a KFC deal and the deal thread went into meltdown as a consequence! I seem to remember it wasn't all stores and wasn't always 20% - sometimes 10%, others 15% and many not offering any discount.

I'm sure others will be along to elaborate further.:smirk:

Depends on if the taste of the local one is as good as KFC  Offer/Price wise the locals will always be better...Where I live in Whitechapel side, there are loads of these local chicken shops and my dad always goes to a franchise called Favorites, whilst I went to another one thinking it was good till my dad got me to try a Favorites hot wing!

But I will be treating the kids tomorrow to this deal and their £6 9 piece bucket on Tuesdays deal, as its our daughters birthday and the £6 9 piece bucket deal supposedly ends on the 10th...

Heat given as its kfc but thats quite expensive. My local fried chicken place calls it special mega bucket.

You get 12 fried chicken
10 chicken wings
10 onion rings
2 whole boxes of chips
1 Coleslaw or 1 baked beans
And 1.5l of pepsi for £14.99

explains why I need to go to the gym everyday. But great when the nephews/niece come over during holidays
Its called Hollywood Chicken andPizza in Harrow.
