Mine arrived this morning 8-)
Have put it in my old MSI X610 laptop and installed XP Pro 32-bit into a 15GB partition on it from a fairly slow 8GB USB 2 memory stick:
- Initial (Quick) NTFS format and file copy: 3min 50sec
- Second stage of installation (before localisation): 1min 50sec
- Final stage of installation: 4min 00sec
- Time to boot to XP login screen after completion of POST: 13sec
It's a shame I don't have any timings from when I installed XP to the laptop's mechanical disk. It will also be interesting to see how the boot time is affected once I've installed all of the device drivers and software.

21 Apr 16#82
I should have mentioned that the above timings were with the "SATA mode" BIOS setting set to "IDE->AHCI". For comparison, with this set to "Native IDE" I got the following equivalent timings:
- Initial (Quick) NTFS format and file copy: 3min 45sec
- Second stage of installation (before localisation): 2min20sec
- Final stage of installation: 3min 50sec
- Time to boot to XP login screen after completion of POST: 15sec
This is a pretty old laptop so I assume it is just SATA I. All timings are fairly approximate but it is interesting to see there really isn't much difference between the IDE and SATA mode for the drive in this process.

Bought for vm OS installation, i never thought about running my VM's on a SSD until i read the posts on this forum, strange since i have been running an active VM for over 3 years and every PC and laptop i have is running on a SSD, should give a decent performance boost until i upgrade my microservers CPU.
I suppose I can't really complain due to the low cost and all but the delivery is sure slow. It was dispatched early Thursday morning so that's 5 days now if you exclude Thursday and Sunday.

I think you are right, physon 10 Controller, 128MB Nanya Memory, tied to Toshiba 19nm TLC Flash.
The Integral Series-4 120GB SSD looks physically Identical to the newly released Sony SLW-MG2 (240GB) AND SLW-MG4 (480GB).
I think it goes like this: Sony decided not to launch the 120GB, deciding it was obsolete (no profit in it) and wrote-off a load of stock they had, had produced, which has ended up coming out under the Integral Brand (or something along those lines) Either way, they seem pretty good quality for a £25 drive. Not breathtaking speed, but better than expected.

I also ordered 4x Kingston SE9 16GB USB Drives at the same time, mymemory price £15.99, Customs Value £10.99, (x1.455) so you can work out from that the profit margin on the Integral SSDs is higher, i.e. there is room for these to drop to £19.99.
£13.74*1.455=19.99 (Coincidentially)
Nice well made case, similar to the Sandisk Plus, metal though (looks very Sandisk in design). Very cool in operation, cloned a disk, still cool to touch. The older Samsung 830 it was been cloned from got fairly hot. Haven't noticed any drop outs, glitches, pauses, which I've seen on cheap drives. Still testing...not awful so far.

I'm not so concerned about portability or ruggedness. I'm much more interested in performance (would read and writes be quicker), will it stay cool (some 128GB USB 3 memory sticks reportedly get very hot), and will it have a longer life (number of re-writes).

Thanks. It did eventually track about 8pm, so TCB came through. I'm just a bit wary of Google of late, as Google 49.xx is doing something 'iffy' with its Cookies, (it restores from saved/'backup' cache - which I think are stored in Adobe Flash's persistent storage) after you clear History/Cookies, in a sense, it tries to put its own Google cookies back again, by the looks of it, which means any previous trackings could go Google's way.

Ok so I've gone and ordered one and it arrived today. Came with no cables, not to worry. What will i need to get this fitted and working in my PC. The enclosure and the SATA cable right? Anything else. Sorry if already posted, had a quick look couldnt see anything.
It needs to connect via SATA cable to your motherboard and via a SATApower cable to your PSU.
If you are replacing an existing drive you can simply harvest these from the existing drive.
If you are adding it additionally (to your existing drive) then you will need to acquire another SATA cable and hope there is a spare SATApower connector from your PSU. If there is not a spare power connector from your PSU you will need to buy a splitter cable. Both SATA cable and SATApower splitter are inexpensive.
I wouldn't worry overly on the enclosure/caddy, you are fine just taping the drive inside the computer (it is far lighter and far more knock-resistant than a standard hard drive). You can of course get a caddy/enclosure if you want.

You are definitely fine btw (for the SATA SSD). Your laptop's not *that* old!
Those in the know: would it be better to use this SSD with a USB 3 adapter (eg http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/252239115926) or to buy a dedicated ~128GB USB 3 memory stick? I'm thinking performance, heat, longevity mainly.

31 Mar 161#37
Yes you will be fine. If the drive you are replacing is thicker then you may need a spacer or just use a couple of old credit cards / gift cards. Make sure you tape over any metal on the cards (like the chip and PIN) as the spacer needs to be non conductive ideally.

Not necessarily. When SSD manufacturers update the model number on a SSD sometimes they will use a cheaper controller or NAND chips which provide lower performance. Often this goes hand in hand with a lower price.
In this particular case I can't tell you either way, you will need to look for some benchmarks on each model.

I've got one - one thing that concerns me is that black magic test shows 95MB writes mostly. And then other times it's over 400. Not sure if it's an issue with the software or the drive, as it does perform rather well otherwise
