Really need to point out that this only does 2 out of 3 UK 4G bands (does not do 800MHz - I think that may be the only one that o2 bought). Even if you are on EE, who use all three, this may mean that the mast you need to use is not able to provide you with 4G, where it would if you had all 3 bands.

I had the first Note when that came out. That had a 5.3 inch screen and was seen as stupidly big. Now when LG bring out the G5 with a 5.3" screen people applaud them for bring out a "more phone sized phone". Heat from me.

17 Mar 16#15
True...but that was just because at the time people thought it looked stupid rather than it really being physically too big to be a phone.
This is physically too big to be carried around as a phone for most people.

All my friends with iPhones use to take the Micky out of me at first with my 4.7" HTC HD2 and them my Galaxy S3 and S5 (just over 5").
Now they say they would never go back to a 4 or 4.5" phone.
5.7" with no bezel would be the biggest I'd go though as it would not fit in my jeans. I would not care what I looked like using it as a phone as long as it fits in my jeans as not the sort of person who cares about what people think of me. How often do you use it as a phone anyway and benefit from that extra screen/battery size.

Had to return this as, and never thought id say it, but it was too big. They sent me the gold one in error too which made it look like a gold bar. I paid £350 couple of months ago and it came from china via spain with no duty. So this is hot for me as it is a great phone and at this price amazing value if you can handle it.

I've had the P8 for almost a year now, great phone, design & build and would highly recommend over the other top brands for price and value for money.
The only thing with Huawei is that they don't update the software much, so if you after the latest android update all the time don't get this.

Be careful with this and the p8 lite, they both use HiSilicon chipset, and there are no custom ROMs for this yet, so your stuck with they're skin, which is pants if you're used to stock Android, you can always put on another skin ie nova, but this will drain your battery.
_hukdealer_ to ws007

I used P8 for couple of weeks with and without nova launcher, no noticable battery drain with nova as you claim.
I sold it because double tap to wake is temperamental, will only wake phone every 2nd or 3rd time.
There is also 5-10 second lag occasionally but this only happens once a day. Otherwise brilliant phone for price.

The screen is 6.8", so the actual phone will be even bigger than this. Personally find a 5.5" screen phone to be about the max size I feel comfortable with and anything in between 5" and 5.5" about the sweet spot. Of course if you're ok with the physical size of this, then it's a pretty good deal.

The problem is that we all want both screens sizes. Large size is better for typing and all the apps, but smaller gives increased portability and battery life. I use a 6inch Nokia 1320 and love it, but there are times when I'd like to take a call on a small and neat, old fashioned flip phone.
The ideal solution would be if a network gave you two Sims on one number. So you could have voice calls on the small one, but texts and all your other apps on the big screen. Not rocket science but nobody seems to offer it. I think it'd be a sales winner.

I'd rather spend a couple of hundred quid annually then buy something like a Galaxy or iPhone for £800 or more, even though these get regular OS updates. Must feel awful when they out a new device just after you dropped a grand on what was a flagship six months ago. And even though you can sell on these 'premium' phones the drag of having to keep it flawless and dealing with sales doesn't sound like fun.

Except that you can download many different themes for the stock UI to transform the look of the device. After seeing this phone on HUKD I decided to buy it. I was a bit nervous as I had never ordered anything from China before but I thought it was worth the risk and bought it from Focalprice. Guess what. Focalprice totally messed up the order and I ended up waiting 4 weeks for a phone that was never sent. Had to open a dispute with Paypal to get my money back. I then decided to try and order it again with Spemall who were mentioned earlier in the thread. Phone was delivered in seven days with no custom charges.
If it is your first time ordering from China I would strongly recommend using Paypal. If something goes wrong it is quite easy to open a claim and get a resolution.
As for the phone it is big. The screen is high quality but not as good as a top of the range Samsung/Iphone. Huwaei have also just released an update to Android 6.0 Marshmallow which runs great. Overall happy I bought it.

Good luck using it. There comes a point where people cease to look cool and just look a prize plum when it comes to phones.
Dom Jolly indeed.
The only thing with Huawei is that they don't update the software much, so if you after the latest android update all the time don't get this.
....boo,no giffgaff then!
Great price though. Voted hot.
An useful website for price comparison of Chinese shops is kimovil:
http://www.kimovil.com/en/where-to-buy-huawei-p8-max-3gb-32gb
The cheapest price currently is £207.84 from Aliexpress.
That's not Bill Gates is it?
I sold it because double tap to wake is temperamental, will only wake phone every 2nd or 3rd time.
There is also 5-10 second lag occasionally but this only happens once a day. Otherwise brilliant phone for price.
Last image I guess is next to an iPhone 6 plus.
This or Huawei MediaPad X2 ?
this has 935 kirin, X2 has 930 kirin processor but also has 5000mah battery but not dual sim
unfortunately i want to be able to freely change to any network should a cheap deal on unlimited data come up
4360 mAh battery damn! 16 hours of video playback time apparently... specs look great. If my Nexus 6 didn't have plenty of life left I'd be seriously considering this
I have he Nexus 7 2012 which is a similar size and there's no way it would be practical. I mean it barely fits in a coat pocket and no chance of trousers\jean pockets. Come summer you'd have to have a bag to carry it in which is asking to be stolen or forgotten.
I rarely use the phone capabilities of my phone, looks like my Mega 6.3 may be retiring. Thanks OP.
The ideal solution would be if a network gave you two Sims on one number. So you could have voice calls on the small one, but texts and all your other apps on the big screen. Not rocket science but nobody seems to offer it. I think it'd be a sales winner.
I got the 64 gig version a few weeks ago, and so far its the best phone I have purchase so far because of the size...
Is this shop any good to buy from?
Sure it'll probably look proper daft when pressed against your head, but the rest of the time, those of use who enjoy these over-size magnificent beasts will be loving all that screen real estate for facebook, or web or games, whilst the rest of you unenlightened saps struggle with your tiny 5.5 inch screens!
With a credit card if u don't receive the goods, the CC company will reimburse u.
"section 75"
Very much appreciated.
Bigger battery 5000 mah.
prefer 16:10 screen instead of 16:9 ratio. makes reading web pages or e-books easier.
iv read there isnt much difference between kirin 930 or 935, clocks at 2000mhz compared to 2200mhz, so I don't think there will be much noticeable difference.
screen to body ratio of 80%
Do you know which networks it offers 3G and not 4G data speeds ?
Could I use this phone straightforward in the UK with very minimum set up, no rooting flashing required ??
Thanks
If it is your first time ordering from China I would strongly recommend using Paypal. If something goes wrong it is quite easy to open a claim and get a resolution.
As for the phone it is big. The screen is high quality but not as good as a top of the range Samsung/Iphone. Huwaei have also just released an update to Android 6.0 Marshmallow which runs great. Overall happy I bought it.
