AMD Radeon R6 is better than Intel HD 5500, comparable to 920M.
Decent CPU and GPU, especially consider the price.
The screen is non-FHD. It will be better than the screens of consumer laptops at the same price range. People who want FHD should consider increase budget. At this price range, you will not get FHD.
The weight is 2.26kg, normal weight for 15.6 inch laptop with DVD-RW.
Lower and cheaper version 455 at £200 after cashback and i5-5200 version 450 G2 at £330 also available. see floor 2.

I think you need to re-read my summary.
For your old laptop which comes with XP, no age limited, over 6 years is fine. It qualifies if it has at least 10 inch screen.
Tablet is fine, just need to make sure at least 9 inch screen.

Gotcha, thanks :-)
They definitely accept tablets yeah? i couldnt see it on the website, it refers to 'device' a lot and when you click through from any given laptop it refers to 'desktop' or 'laptop'. but i guess i need to find the t's and c's really to checkity check it out. my old laptop, whilst it runs xp pro, is over 6 years old. so i need to look into cheap tablet route me thinks :-s

thanks for your input, much much appreciated. I'll make sure my old works for trade in and get to purchasing :-)
i3-6100u works out £200 after all cashbacks and discounts. (4% discount code, 6.06% TCB, £50 cashback, £150 trade-up cashback)
i5-6200u works out £225. (6.06% TCB, £50 cashback, £200 trade-up cashback) Do not use 4% discount code, it will bring the laptop below £500 and reduce trade-up cashback.
So you pay £25 more for slightly stronger CPU, but you have more in stake with HP trade-up cashback. Both are very good deals. Either would be fine for you.
They are better than the previous deals due to the amount of cashbacks. Better laptops for cheaper.
For the latest deal, go for 450 G3 with i3-6100u, 128GB SSD, £200 after cashback. This is the best deal now. (Do not under-estimate this new i3, it is as powerful as the vastly used i5-5200u)
Then you can spend £50/60 to buy a 2TB HDD to add in. People confirmed that it has the space and SATA connector for HDD.
The link does not direct me to a particular laptop. So I cannot see which one you are asking.

1. the over 7 hours battery life see review below. It is for the exact same model of 450 G2 with i5-5200U, HDD and non-FHD. If you read other website states 4 hours, it may not be the exact same specs, for instance, FHD/4K screen will reduce battery life significantly.
"The ProBook reaches a very good battery life of 7:36 h" http://www.notebookcheck.net/HP-ProBook-450-G2-Notebook-Review.137513.0.html
would that potentially make it a better deal than the save on laptops deal?

Good story, nice details. Happy for you everything work out.
Because you chased, the turn-around speed is faster than usually.
I never had problems, things just work out fine, I normally just wait.
I normally receive validation then next day after I apply, receive email confirmation about amount of cashback I will receive in a month, And receive the money in two months from the confirmation email.
I would think after they validated your claim, then it all depend on the old device you send to him. So if they validate your claim, you are pretty much safe. You just need to give them something by their rules.

Here's my little story for those thinking of trading in:
Had a China tablet that I bought for around £115 a few years ago but never used as it was rubbish. Thought of trading it in for this:
but wasn't sure if they'd accept it, since 1) I'm not a business buyer, and 2) didn't know if they'd take a no-name Android tablet with a non-UK plug charger.
Asked them if the tablet would qualify, and if using a 4% voucher code (which I found off HKUD, just search for HP Store) would invalidate my claim. Yes and No was their reply. Though I didn't mention that this wouldn't be a business purchase.
I placed my HP Store order on 18th February, and when I got my invoice number the next morning, I filled in the trade in form and got a response in the afternoon to say that it was provisionally approved. Received a separate email a little later with instructions on sending my tablet away with a prepaid postage label. The laptop also arrived by this time. Had to act quickly as my back out plan was to return the laptop with 14 days if the claim was to fall through, so the next day tablet was all packaged up and I dropped it off at a local DPD drop off point. And just to be on the safe side I didn't power the laptop on at all in case they dispute that it's been used.
Heard nothing for a few days so called them to check, and was told that they've been busy as there have been lots of claims recently, but assured me that mine will be dealt with shortly and to expect to hear from them in a couple of days.
Finally got an email from them on 4th March to say that my claim has been approved and £150 will be paid within 45 days. This email arrived on the 14th day since I received the laptop, so it was right on the threshold of the returns period.
It's also now about the time that I should submit my £50 cashback claim too. So if that also goes through OK, I would have effectively paid £240 for my Probook 430 G3.
By the way, the laptop is nice, it's well built and has a premium feel to it. I've got a Elitebook 840 G2 work laptop, and it's almost as good as that (screen is about the same, keyboard/trackpad better on 840). But the Probook is faster, especially now that I've added an extra 4 GB RAM, and Samsung 850 EVO SSD (in the spare M.2 slot).

If I read your comment correctly, I fully agree with you.
HP consumer laptop quality is not good. Only compare its price and specs to the lowest budget models of other brands. There should be no portion of price contributed to its quality.
If want HP, only go for business laptops (Probook or Elitebook) at good price, such as this deal. There are some models of them are in the same price range as consumer laptops. When comparing prices and specs, their overall better quality and components used should be taken into consideration.
Another option of HP worth buying is their high end Ultrabook, HP Spectre x360, not HP Envy.
HP Envy although priced at the bottom of Ultrabook, but does not have good quality, nor good screen. It defeated the purpose of paying the premium buying an Ultrabook, because buying an Ultrabook you will normally get premium quality compare to budget consumer laptops, good screen as well as portable and long battery life.
Whereas HP Spectre x360 is a solid Ultrabook. Not as nice as XPS 13, but it is cheaper in price. However, the new Toshiba Radius 12 I think is better value than Spectre X360, quality, specs and screen all good. But some people may think the 12.5 inch screen of Radius is too small for them.

I hear you loud and clear on that one!, lol .. I've already been pre-stung via an HP Consumer Laptop in the past (some years back).
And learnt via a different earlier HUKD Thread before that HP's Business Laptops' are basically the way to go!.
As some of their Consumer Laptop's can be ..... :-(
Considering both the external build quality & better quality internal components of their Business range as opposed to more 'questionable' everything else on their Consumer range, their average/generic 'price range' should be semi-permanent - permanently 'FIXED' to the £150 - £200 bar?, as per my links below:
Probook 455 G3 A10-8700P is a business laptop with better quality, longer warranty, more powerful CPU and GPU for £60 cheaper.
You do not even need to consider the laptop in your link. There is nothing special about it. Lower specs, lower quality, budget consumer laptop, higher price. It has 2TB HDD instead of 1TB, the difference is worth about £20.
The exact same laptop on your link was around £280-£300. Even at that price, Probook 455 G3 is better.

The conditions are:
1. Must be fully working conditions.
2. Tablet not less than 9 inch, laptop not less than 10 inch.
3. If you trade in PC/laptop with Win XP, no age restriction.
If you trade in PC/laptop with newer system than XP, no more than 6 years old.
Cheapest way, you have a old one not needed.
The next is by a xp laptop off ebay for £20-30, a lot work because you have to make sure everything is fully function (battery etc).
The easiest is to buy a 9 inch tablet for less than £50, you only need to make sure the tablet is fully working. 2nd hand cheap ones especially those from China, or Nook HD+ from CeX.
I have traded in few, but it was for £300 or £250 cashback per laptop. It took 2-3 month for the cash to arrive. But I personally never experienced problem with HP cashback or trade-up cashback.
That is my understandings before. I did not read the T&C again. Please make sure nothing has changed.

If you need the M.2, contact ebuyer and ask where is it. If it does not have a free M.2 ask them for return, say it is their listing error, because on their webpage in the question and answer section, it clearly answered there is a free M.2 slot for SSD.
Capture their webpage as a proof just in case they change it after you contact them.

For word processing, you do not need a laptop this powerful. Since word processing and portability are important to you, I guess you plan to use it to take note in lecture. The CPU will actually means shorter battery life which is not what you want.
For you, a weaker CPU and GPU are more suitable which give longer battery power, and cost less.
An i3, or strong Celeron or Pentium + SSD will be you best pick.
HP EliteBook 745 G2 AMD A6 and SSD would be good for you, but the £100 trade-up cashback has finished, price is no longer good.
If cost is not a problem for you
Go for an ultrabook, portability and battery life are much better as well as quality. They do cost a lot more.
There are few models with very good screens.
1. Toshiba Radius 12.5 inch from Currys, FHD and 4k available.
2. HP Spectre x360
3. Asus Zenbook UX305/UX303
4. Ultimately, XPS 13, or new XPS 15 (not the old XPS 15)

You cannot. It is not in this model.
It is talking about optional dedicated graphic card, then switch between the dedicated graphic card and on-board AMD Radeon R6.
"Switchable graphics allows you to use the low power integrated GPU when using 2D applications and switch to the high power discrete GPU when running 3D games and applications."
"Enjoy the robust performance of cost effective and energy-efficient AMD A-Series APUs with optional AMD discrete graphics supporting AMD Switchable Graphics and optional AMD Radeon™ Dual Graphics in the HP ProBook 455."
If have dedicated graphic card as well as on-board, the option should be in AMD Catalyst driver package. I never personally used the function before.

I don't I'm afraid, but have been tempted a few times to pull the trigger. I use a Toshiba Chromebook 2 with full HD screen to manage my photos in Lightroom - I simply remote through to my desktop PC and let that do all the chugging. The difference in display quality is huge compared to my HP Folio screen.
That said, this i5 looks a good deal for the money.

Good find, Sclub.
The Pentium's price is very good, FHD IPS screen, SSD+HDD.
Do you know if anyone have bought it and reported how is the IPS FHD screen?
SClub
6 Mar 16#46
If you really need a FHD IPS screen, but aren't going to be taxing the laptop too much, then this is hard to beat:
Pentium quad core version (1968 Passmark score) - £269
I agree with you. It is unacceptable they make laptops with displays that need to die.
This 21st century and manufacturers need to catch up soon. My phone/tablet/tv are all quad or FHD screen so I wonder why manufacturers think I would go out and buy a laptop with a screen quality thats exactly same as my 7 years old laptop?
I refuse to buy a laptop until FHD laptops become the norm and much more affordable.
Why should I downgrade from my phone/tablet/tv screen quality and part with my hard earned £300 / £400 for a laptop when manufacturers cant be bothered to catch up with 21st century and refuse to spend £30 extra for their screen?
harryg001
6 Mar 16#44
Thanks Huangxq2. It will probably be a better screen then my 7- or 8-year old Dell Inspiron, but it may be better for me to look elsewhere then. My photo editing is only a hobby but I'd rather get it right now than jump for the wrong spec based on price, despite it being a great spec for the money.
Mikiex
6 Mar 16#43
It was more a comment on the screen in particular, sure its a good deal and that's why I voted it hot.
Apologies for not writing something a bit more meaningful about the deal.
Maybe its not possible to find a laptop with a good screen at this price point but effectively a FHD IPS screen adds about £20 to the manufacturing cost. I just think its about time they start putting them in every laptop (especially 15.6inch screens). Yet you will pay a premium of £100+ (often more) for the better screen.
I guess its because people keep buying laptops with crappy screens there is no demand for them to not cut corners.

I'll look it things myself more, but seeing as there's pretty knowledgeable people on here, I was wondering if this would be suitable for a little bit of PC gaming or if I need something with a better graphics card? Games I'm thinking of playing are City Skylines (quite fancy a game like this) and Antichamber (looks cool and I like puzzle games). I realise this is a vague request but any advice would be most appreciated, cheers.
Thank you so much for your advice. I'm used to working on a Dell Inspiron laptop, about 7 or 8 years old, but I am keen to get the right machine since I upgrade so infrequently, even though photography and editing is just a hobby. I'll take your comments into consideration. Thanks.

I have a quick question since you're being so helpful huangxq2. Would this be any good for photo editing or is the screen not up to it? I'm very tempted by this offer. Many thanks.
huangxq2 to harryg001
5 Mar 16#39
The screen would be a standard non-FHD TN panel given the price. Screen will be the weakest link out of the whole package.
Do not get me wrong. If you are used to a non-FHD consumer laptop, Probook's screen is not going to be less than that.
You will not be able to get anything better at this price. If screen is important to you, you may consider increase your budget and get a FHD IPS screen.
I knew some models of Ultrabooks at affordable price with very good screen. But Ultrabook has smaller screen, and small form is disadvantagous if your graphic work require a lot power.
If mobility is not a issue, I suggest you go for £700 gaming machine with i7 HQ, 960M, SSD, FHD IPS screen.
If you can use a desktop, a desktop can be a lot more powerful and cheaper than a laptop. And a good 24 inch FHD IPS monitor is around £100.
Basically, if you want IPS FHD or 4k screen in a laptop, you have to pay a lot more. Not all FHD screens are good. Most FHD laptops come with bad screens too.

AMD is cheaper, better multi-thread performance, generally better GPU, but higher power consumption.
This one battery last 2-3 hours.
The Probook 450 i5-5200u, 4GB RAM, 500GB HDD was £330 for months, but sold out now.
So this 455 compare to 450 is cheaper, better CPU, better GPU, more RAM, larger HDD, but shorter battery life.

The laptop is new version, should be using 1.35V RAM only, cannot use 1.5V RAM. The crucial is low voltage, can be used in both 1.35v and 1.5v environment.
One question, why do you need 16GB RAM? Consider the rest of spec, 8GB RAM should be adequate.

For your old laptop which comes with XP, no age limited, over 6 years is fine. It qualifies if it has at least 10 inch screen.
Tablet is fine, just need to make sure at least 9 inch screen.
Thanks

Please read my summary about HP cashbacks in reply no#1.

i3-6100u works out £200 after all cashbacks and discounts.

Then you can spend £50/60 to buy a 2TB HDD to add in. People confirmed that it has the space and SATA connector for HDD.

"The ProBook reaches a very good battery life of 7:36 h"
http://www.notebookcheck.net/HP-ProBook-450-G2-Notebook-Review.137513.0.html
would that potentially make it a better deal than the save on laptops deal?
help much appreciated thanks
in this thread you said it could reach 7 hours battery life, but on the website it says max of 4 with battery saver?
main things I want to do is to add 4gb of Ram, a 128gb ssd, and downgrade to win 7 pro. would you have any thoughts on those modifications?
thank you to the effort and time you put into answering questions, and the debate and discussions have been really enlightening and helpful.
thanks in advance :-)
Because you chased, the turn-around speed is faster than usually.
I never had problems, things just work out fine, I normally just wait.
I normally receive validation then next day after I apply, receive email confirmation about amount of cashback I will receive in a month, And receive the money in two months from the confirmation email.
I would think after they validated your claim, then it all depend on the old device you send to him. So if they validate your claim, you are pretty much safe. You just need to give them something by their rules.
Had a China tablet that I bought for around £115 a few years ago but never used as it was rubbish. Thought of trading it in for this:
http://store.hp.com/UKStore/Merch/Product.aspx?id=P4N86ET&opt=ABU&sel=NTB
but wasn't sure if they'd accept it, since 1) I'm not a business buyer, and 2) didn't know if they'd take a no-name Android tablet with a non-UK plug charger.
I have tried to claim now as I have received the Probook but it says invalid date. The date I am entering is 7/3/16.
Does that seem right?
can someone help me please,
is this a good alternative with the one posted here.
www8.hp.com/uk/en/products/laptops/product-detail.html?oid=9044004
with the £50 cashback offer from HP, I should be able to get it for 272 from cclonline
does this AMD processor have a better battery life than the one posted on this?
any advise would be appreciated.
thanks
The one is a lot weak in both CPU and GPU, half RAM, half HDD, for £18 cheaper.
Battery life will be slightly better as CPU max is 25w instead of 35w.
But you could find i5, or similar powered Celeron and Pentium at 15w.
Just for slight improvement in battery life, you give up everything else. not worth it.
can someone please give me some advice.
want a similar probook, main thing im looking for is battery life
is the below laptop better than the one posted here, ie better battery life?

EDIT - scratch that, appears to be a different kind of M.2 slot...
455 G3 does not have a free M.2 slot.
But Probook 450 G2 in reply 2 has a free M.2 slot. People has upgraded the model before.
450 G2 with i5-5200u, over 7 hours.
*Lowest in the Land* Acer ES1-531, 15.6", Laptop, Intel Celeron, 4GB RAM, 1TB - £299 >£199 @ Tesco

And even more so if both Specs &/or quality, etc reflects that of not much more than that of my Acer links above anyway?!.
So why the hefty 'premium'?, when ..... :-(
As well as ofcourse this previous comment (that had already been pre-answered a few hours earlier above your own initial comment) here:
http://www.argos.co.uk/static/Product/partNumber/5066496.htm#bv_qa
You do not even need to consider the laptop in your link. There is nothing special about it. Lower specs, lower quality, budget consumer laptop, higher price. It has 2TB HDD instead of 1TB, the difference is worth about £20.
The exact same laptop on your link was around £280-£300. Even at that price, Probook 455 G3 is better.

There is one thing better in your link, it has Windows 7 Pro if it is important to some people.
I have opened and used the laptop for two days, do you think Ebuyer will give me a full refund?
I am going to change the descriptions.
An alternative option is 450 G2 with i5-5200u at £330. It has M.2. I have seen pictures of it and reg66 has upgraded one.
Only one which is used by wireless card. There is physical space but no connector for one!
It's a shame if it is, I would have went for it otherwise.
https://hpcashback.com/gb/en/pages/cashback/qualifying
If I remember correctly, 30 days after purchase you can apply.
It is a straight £30 cashback, differently to trade-up cashback on other models.
For you, a weaker CPU and GPU are more suitable which give longer battery power, and cost less.
An i3, or strong Celeron or Pentium + SSD will be you best pick.
Value pick:
The Medion with Pentium, SSD+HDD above.

That said, this i5 looks a good deal for the money.
The Pentium's price is very good, FHD IPS screen, SSD+HDD.
Do you know if anyone have bought it and reported how is the IPS FHD screen?

http://www.medion.com/gb/shop/budget-laptops-medion-akoya-e4213-md99547-30019565a1.html

Apologies for not writing something a bit more meaningful about the deal.
Maybe its not possible to find a laptop with a good screen at this price point but effectively a FHD IPS screen adds about £20 to the manufacturing cost. I just think its about time they start putting them in every laptop (especially 15.6inch screens). Yet you will pay a premium of £100+ (often more) for the better screen.
I guess its because people keep buying laptops with crappy screens there is no demand for them to not cut corners.
Most FHD laptops come with bad screens too.
http://www.ebuyer.com/727817-hp-350-g2-laptop-k9h90ea-abu
Do not buy 250 and 350, if Probook 450/455 is not much more, 450/455 is much better quality.
The attractiveness of 455 is better CPU and GPU, also double RAM and HDD.
455 was £330 while 450 was £300 at Christmas.
If you really want i5 business laptop, go for 450 G2 at £330.
http://www.hotukdeals.com/deals/hp-probook-450-g2-299-97-saveonlaptops-2362805?p=26957414
Better CPU, better GPU.
Cheaper.
The only thing Acer is better is the 2TB HDD.
You are comparing an A10 business laptop with an i3 consumer laptop, no more need to be said.
The Acer is way worse.
Yes, better in every way. Better CPU, better GPU, bigger RAM, bigger HDD. After cashback price is only few pounds difference.
http://www.currys.co.uk/gbuk/computing/laptops/laptops/acer-aspire-f5-571-15-6-laptop-black-10137568-pdt.html#tab5%7Ccareplan
And does this company offer insurance or extended warranty as I can claim it back which is why I'm leaning towards the Acer
Thanks
Anyone got any recommendations
And I take it the ebuyer model is better than the one on HP with £50 cashback?:
the HP ProBook 455 G3 - P4P60EA
I knew 450 G2, 450 G3 and 455 G3 have M.2 slot. I had seen the pictures of them been opened up.
I googled 455 G2 when he asked the question, there seems to be few links mention M.2 slot, but I have not seen a photo.
But you can use others with the Samsung, most of time, there will not be any issue. Which is very using the £28 Crucial is a cheaper option.
I also use the laptop for going to clients houses with kitchen designs.
I don't have much time to invest in learning about switching over to ssd. How simple is installing the M.2?
And whilst I'm here, is there any way of transferring my software over from my elderly Dell to here so I don't have to buy fresh copies for licence keys?
Thanks in advance
Package: 204-pin SODIMM
Feature: DDR3 PC3L-12800
Specs: DDR3 PC3L-12800 , CL=11 , Unbuffered , NON-ECC , DDR3-1600MHz , 1.35V
8 Gb size about £50 hope that helps
Not to mention FHD in business laptop, how much more you need to pay for it.
Also, I think its screen will be better than any consumer laptop cost £290.
I have got use to my BrightView Display. I haven't scene a Bright Display on any of the HP offer yet has anyone else
You just have to choose according what is important to your requirement.
Weight 2.26kg
They are the new versions, weight is normal as have a DVD-RW, it is not going to be heavier than a normal 15.6 inch consumer laptop with DVD-ROM
ebuyer pic showing the right side is incorrect pic.
I just checked HP UK
http://www.hp.com/sbso/hpinfo/newsroom/HPSMB2015/HPProBook455G3NotebookPCDatasheet.pdf
2.5 inch is cheaper, but HDD need to come out.
M.2 is more expensive, but HDD can stay. And M.2 can be a lot faster than 2.5 inch.
RAM go for Crucial 8GB 1600Mhz at £28 from amazon, good reviews. The laptop is most likely comes with Samsung RAM, but it would be too pricy for you buy the exact same one (£49). (Another reason I like business laptop, they use expensive components and built to last, not like consumer laptops.) Amazon is good so if you ever have RAM compatiablility issues.
http://www.amazon.co.uk/Crucial-CT102464BF160B-PC3-12800-Unbuffered-NON-ECC/dp/B006YG8X9Y/ref=sr_1_4?ie=UTF8&qid=1457189024&sr=8-4&keywords=8gb+ram+204+pin
The laptop is new version, should be using 1.35V RAM only, cannot use 1.5V RAM. The crucial is low voltage, can be used in both 1.35v and 1.5v environment.
One question, why do you need 16GB RAM? Consider the rest of spec, 8GB RAM should be adequate.
ztc armor m.2 2242 128gb here
if you're swapping the hdd for ssd, i'd recommend the samsung 840/850 evo and set it to rapid mode in samsung magician. good luck with your purchase
http://www.ebuyer.com/705955-hp-455-quad-core-laptop-l8b56es
Bear in mind, system is Ubuntu 12.04, not Windows.
Both of them are the best value business laptops you can get with the money.
For people prefer i5-5200u, go for Probook 450 G2 at £330.
