Doubt it, whilst this is a 6th gen which is the latest generation of Intel CPU, it's built for power saving and battery life, so it's a reasonable balance of power and battery life. 2TB HDD well some one might need it in a laptop. 8GB RAM that'll almost never get fully utilised by the majority of users, the graphics won't get you gaming that well, but it will be a long long time before a laptop at £300 plays games well, of course it depends on the game, latest titles like The Division nah.
TL;DR
Seems about the best you can get for this price.
I work as a laptop refurbisher, as soon as you get this laptop, press F2 as soon as it boots up and do the in depth diagnostics, you can check battery, RAM and hard disk. If everything checks out ok then you should be good, if it fails on any of those three then send it back.

Where can I train to be a professional re-boxer? Do city & guilds run a course?
I knew this was going to be a refurb looking at the spec for the price, great specs other than the screen but tbh 768p is passable for a 15.6 inch screen.

I've bought this exact laptop from svp.co.uk last week. I too was a bit worried about some of the reviews of the company but I can tell you that for me atleast, my concerns were completely unwarranted. Placed my order on Thursday and it arrived by Courier on Monday (free delivery). It allows you to pay via PayPal so you have buyer protection from 180 days of purchase.
As far as the laptop goes I'm very happy for the price I paid. For a refurbished model it arrived well packaged and the laptop itself did not have a mark or scratch on it, I'd go as far as to say it looked brand new.
Initial experience of using the laptop can be summed up as follows
- Good Design / Colour
- Good Keyboard (has separate number pad for spreadsheets etc.)
- Really Quiet
- Excellent Battery Life.
- Boots up fast
- Runs smoothly and quickly. (streamed a HD music video of YouTube with no issues whatsoever)
The negatives are the screen which isn't the best resolution (but is matte so deals with reflection well) and the mouse pad is pretty poor very though I dislike mouse pads in general.
Not had a great amount of time to analyse the HD 520 graphics but there are plenty of YouTube videos displaying it's capability, some even seem to show GTA V running at low settings.
I searched long and hard for an approx £300 laptop with decent specs and this fits the bill nicely. Really couldn't find anything similar for the money even at used/refurb level. Yes the warranty is a risk but judging by the condition mine arrived in, I'm hopeful that this won't be an issue.

I got you. Initially I thought that you think the price is too cheap to be true, which is not the case.
Never bought from them personally, cannot vouch. 3 month warranty is not giving peace of mind.
I suggest find something else as this price is not that hot consider how much brand new business laptops only cost.

Screen resolution seems very low for a 15 incher. I would expect higher resolution to be paired with those decent specs.
Not voter either way as I'm not up to date on laptop prices.

That's exactly the same resolution of 90% if 15 inch laptops unfortunately

It is an ok deal, not hot for me.
Refurbished HP consumer laptop with i5 for £300, although latest generation.
You could get brand new business laptop, Probook with i5-5200u for £330.
Or brand new Probook with A10-8700p (better GPU than i5-5200u) for £320 or £290 after cashback.
HP consumer laptop and business laptop, quality are quite different.

Way above city & guilds standard, you're looking at 3 years at Uni.

As I said above press F2 as soon as the laptop boots and you have access to a nice looking diagnostics page, where you can do in depth checks, as I mentioned you want to test battery, HDD and RAM, there are other component tests you can do as well. Run the tests and if it doesn't check out OK then send it back.
