The prices are ridiculous (and it's not in the sale), but I'd highly recommend their 100% Dark Peru Pichanaki, the darkest chocolate I've ever tasted in my life. It starts off a bit like chewing paracetamols, then has a distinct taste of old shoe leather, before it hits you with this dark, dark aftertaste of bitter loveliness. Afterwards, everything in life is a bit of a disappointment.

It was a nice place and unlike the online store they had plenty of sale stock so I got me an egg or 2 cheers

Had half my order cancelled and half replaced with other rubbish. Disappointing sale, they clearly didn't put a limit on the stock at all as I was a very early order.

Oh that's really annoying. Why do they do that especially when there were loads available at the time of ordering. Wonder if I will have the same thing when it arrives, I've had the dispatch email but no mention of anything out of stock .

They've changed my Just Milk to a You Crack Me Up - there were 847 left when I placed my order. And whilst the email they've sent makes it look complimentary, in fact they've charged me for this egg I didn't order, and won't let me cancel the individual egg from my whole order. So I've paid £13.50 for an egg I didn't really want.

Yep. Ordered on Sunday, according to their delivery schedule on the site orders can take 3-5 days for delivery. Seems a little later than I'd expect, but hey. Hopefully we'll get them sent out before long.

Picked up some stuff in Paddington. They had a few items that were broken like bunnies and choc sandwiches, these were reduced to £1. The lady said the price will keep dropping if they can't flog the sale stuff but the lowest will be 75% off

Marylebone station had all sales items in stock as of 10:15 this morning, if it helps anyone.

I checked on Easter Sunday and it wasn't live yet, thought they were being a bit hopeful taking sales on Easter.

I was a massive fan of these back in the day but their chocolate isn't anything like as nice as it used to. Built up their following and then reduced their costs as much as possible, which has reduced quality unacceptably for the cost.

Spent £16 on a bar of Hotel Chocolat recently, never felt so ripped off. It was OK, just tasted kind of cheap, a bit like a decent super market own brand. You're paying for the name.

It's a bit hit or miss, but get lucky and you'll find 70% off and bogof promotions running concurrently.

Have to agree with you. Something's changed, and it's not remotely the treat it used to be. Might just be that after a while you get bored with any 'new' chocolate, but if you compare Hotel Chocolat now with other 'premium' brands of chocolate you start thinking how overpriced it is, and reach the conclusion that it's past its best. I suspect it's heading the way Thorntons went as people get bored with it and want something genuinely different.

For 49p, Freddo can wait. Paying buttons for Buttons eggs does appeal.

Most of these are gone. Also, I practically exploded* when looking at some of these prices. £75 for an egg originally? £75?!!? I'm sure they're delicious, but I'd be happy with some Freddo Cadbury's number that costs £1 after the supermarkets slash their prices to unload stock.

Yeah, this chocolate brand is all hype and pretty much on a par with chicken nuggets IMO. You may like them or not, that's your prerogative. People share all sorts of opinions round here.

Yet again I'm wondering if there is some recipe alteration going on due to the cocoa crisis that seems to still be looming? I'd be interested to know other's opinions as I'd like to try this - but absolutely no way if they're just another Thornton's - basing their whole business on the premise of 'premium quality' chocolate - Thornton's make god-awful chocolate.

Hotel Chocolat is nowhere near as good as they used to be IMHO.

Forget the brand and try a blind taste test yourself of even their standard milk or dark against a couple of other semi-premium chocolates you like.

I find that their milk chocolate lacks flavour, although it is of course a lot better than Thorntons, Cadburys etc. Their dark chocolate depends on the type, but some are very good.
