I would get this for my mum - if she specifically asked for one, same with the iron she asked for a few years ago, etc  Normally I get her treats

And no I wasn't joking....lol I don't get it, as dion77 has said above if the receiver loves baking then she will love this as a gift and like I've said before I personally would LOVE this as a gift!

I think what we're trying to convey, is that even if a mother is an avid baker and cook for the majority of the year that Most mothers would not see this as a personalised gift or 'present' on the only day of the year that is set aside just for them. This is the kind of mundane item that is picked up while doing the grocery shopping, as a necessity. Certainly not to be 'gifted' to somebody, let alone your own mother. Aside from it being a crappy 'gift,' in the general sense of the term, and I don't really want to bring up the blatant sexism/stereotyping that you're perpetuating, but I will to prove the point. So, would you dream of buying your dad a new set of overalls for Father's Day for the next time he cleans the guttering or clears the garage? Or even worse, would you even contemplate buying HIM this set if he enjoyed cooking (which obviously a lot of men do) I highly doubt it.
As somebody already said above, treat her, take her somewhere nice. Something, but not this. Plus, if "you're stuck for a gift idea!" ?. "Thought that counts" ? She's your mum, #thinkjustthatlittlebitharder!

I'm sure the OP was joking about this being a suitable Mothers Day gift..........almost as bad as a 'gift for mum' set I saw many years ago which was a washing up bowl, scrubbing brush and dish washing brush in cellophane with a great big pink bow tied round it. My mum said if anyone bought that for her they'd end up wearing it!

Exactly! Thought does count although I wound or appreciate this as I'm not much of a cook but for someone who loves to cook and bake will appreciate something like this.

I see noting wrong with this as a present for a mum or nan. after all its the thought that's meant to count!
