So far with my time playing this, it stutters and lags a lot.
It improved slight disabling motion blur, but it's still fairly crappy.
I got a similar result a couple of years ago using a ps2 emulator on my PC. Except in that case I didn't have to pay £15.

This is NOT a HD Re-master
This is NOT the mobile version on iOS or Android
This is the EXACT PS2 version ported to PS4 with Trophies

They are however, uprended to 1080p with the usual ps4 support features (Trophies, sharplay etc.) Worth noting at least.

bought it... had no reason not to because i have been wanting to get san andreas for a long time for nostalgia sake. maybe i will actually complete it this time haha. in fact i think GTAV is the only gta game i completed. cant blame me, i just used to use cheats as a kid xD

guys I'm a PlayStation noob I only just got a PS4 does this mean they are all playable on PS4 with trophies too? cheers. PlayStation now and classics and all that just confuses me.

Yes, the PS2 classics have trophies on PS4. This trilogy is a PS2 emulation. San Andreas however is HD on PS3, also with trophies.

Sorry, you will have to wait till the PS6... these are PS2 games.. Or you could just buy a Wii U and play every game Nintendo brought out in 1994, but slower and with ads.

Lol that is true! I picked up two of them on launch as I thought I'd love getting back into them. As it was, I didn't have the time to play through the second one! True, if you are going to buy early, then be prepared to watch the price tumble in time....it happens to everything!

what I can't understand is that this is a deal! only because this is the price they should've been to start with!!!! £28 is an absolute joke for a trilogy 2 generations old!
I got these off the Canada store a month ago for about 11 quid cos that's the most I'll pay for games this old, even if I did love playing them 1st time round.
gta 3 is the same as before as far as I'm concerned. Yeah it is showing its age though.

If they'd have added in custom radio like the xbox version a few years back I'd have bought these. As it is I'll stick to my ps2. Running OPL & have a hdd in it so loading times aside it's gonna barely any different, possibly even superior to these.
If anyone was really into their ps2 then I'd urge them to grab a fat console & a network adapter (you need it for the hdd) & do some Google homework to get an OPL drive set up.

bought VC when it came out in December. graphics aren't great but I loved replaying the game since I got rid of my PS2 years ago.

Rockstar games are on sale a lot of the time, When San Andreas released on X360 about a year ago, it launched 75% off. It doesn't take a rocket scientist to realise these games were going to go on sale sooner rather than later. If you're gonna cry about games going on sale, don't buy them full price.

16 Mar 161#39
Played these on the PS2 again last year still very much enjoyable.
Hot if you haven't got a PS2/last played them years ago but saying that I'd still play them on the PS2 there's just a certain charm & nostalgia to it. And no omission of songs such as Billie Jean from VC & some songs from KDST & Radio X from SA!
darkspace100
16 Mar 16#37
If people knew these games would get discounted in a matter of months people would have waited. If feels like i've been scammed and i've given Rockstar more money for less content.

16 Mar 16#36
I didn't say it was a surprise. Nor is that a worry. I expected to have time to play but then I couldn't. I just question why have a sale then further reduce in the days/ weeks following?! Some retailers would refund the difference in those circumstances, I'm guessing Sony would not.

I just bought this last week. oh well :smirk: They haven't aged well in terms of graphics but to me they're still enjoyable.

I absolutely loved San Andreas on the PS2. I bought it on the 360 a year or two ago and was very disappointed, it looked and handled awfully. Obviously it's going to look poor anyway by modern standards, but it was apparently a port of the mobile version rather than the actual PS2 game.
If the PS4 versions were remastered I'd probably buy them at this price, but I'm not sure I'd ever get into them again. I've still actually got the PC version of Vice City and I've never got around to replaying that.

all valuable points, but 'pesky' discs? I love having a game collection. Downloads are convenient, but there's something about paying money and not having anything to hold that just feels odd. Also, I still have most of my PS2 collection and the console is my original from 2001, nostalgia

16 Mar 16#31
how is this a surprise to anyone. games are worth what you are willing to pay so to you they were worth £25. a bigger worry is why you were willing to pay full price for a digital game you weren't going to play?

16 Mar 161#30
Agreed. I added heat. I just feel that there was a reason I liked the older games, and that's why I use the PS2

I'm seriously annoyed right now. I paid 12 quid for just GTA 3 when they released these games on PS4 now they give a bundle of all 3 for 15 quid? Screw you Rockstar.

I'm in the same boat here. It's getting to the stage where it's not worthwhile buying anything on PSN! Games reduced in sales then further reduced or on PS Plus shortly after?! I paid £25 odds for two of these games. Not even touched SA :disappointed:
darkspace100
16 Mar 16#28
How about you get lost. For your information i'm only willing to buy digital if theres no disc version and if the digital version is very cheap so don't get all high and mighty with me thinking you know whats on my HDD than me.

Crikey people will buy anything these days. I still use my PS2 now, I get games for 80p down the local independent games store. If you enjoyed the PS2 game back then, dig it out and play it now.

Nah I'd rather get these with better resolution and performance, trophy support, shareplay support (I just played 2 player on GTA San Andreas with a friend from his own house online connected as if he is a local player), screenshot, video, livestream support and no need for dealing with pesky discs and shelf space anymore

The original Xbox had the best console ports of these titles, especially having the ability to add your own music to the custom radio. I never saw the appeal on the PS2, or for that matter now the appeal to play these on the PS4 considering they are just emulated ports of the originals.

Iv been playing San Andreas for the past few months now on the PS4. While its still fun i will say that it runs very poorly. There is a massive screen tear issue and some really weird glitches that pop up every now and then, such as serious graphic reduction in certain situations and sound effect errors.

Yup save your money folks, there are plenty of new games to be played. They were great games but they have made no effort to make them playable on the PS4.

Finally a good price for this - heated
At £7.39 for each title, I'm a little torn... Vice City was by far the best of the bunch... would I actually play the other 2... :smirk:

If these are the ageing ps2 versions then it's not much of a deal. If they are remastered versions then it's a steal. Is there any confirmation of this at all?

These are the PS2 versions and to make it worse is that the EU versions run like crap. This is how Rockstar treat the games that got them where they are today.

Works out as free if you use the £15 bonus that you got for topping up £100 last week! And if you only paid £87.38 for that credit, technically Sony are paying you £12.62 to buy this!!! Bargain!!!!
