He is not wrong, most are the same and share many of the same parts, most are made in the same factories in china etc, but with different brand names slapped on them. It is the same with tv's, most branded tv's now have the same pannels as cheap supermarket branded tv's. My blaupunkt 3d tv uses the an LG 3d pannel.

In my oppinion hotpot are rubbish not how they used to be. But agree like u said it's down to luck and best to take extra warranty.

If you've had cheap for years then how do you know they last longer than branded? Your sample size of one is not proof of anything.

I don't know I am no expert but we have had cheap washing machines for years now and if they go wrong (which they don't any more than the branded) its a lot less painful on the pocket.

I'm on both sides of the coin myself, I would always recommend paying abit more and getting a quality item, but I wouldn't over pay for something like a Miele which although will last cost so much initially that it puts me off. My family washing machine surprised me, it was a "white knight" from Argos and was the cheapest one they could buy and honestly it's been stupidly reliable ! It's lasted about 6 years so far with a few loads a day going through it and in a very hard water area. So sometimes these cheap white goods can cost less per year to run than the branded stuff.

If he were anything other than stupid he'd recommend a good spin rating, not just an arbitrary spin speed.

Pretty cheap with two years warranty on top of triple A energy rating but probably not worth the hassle should it break down/leak (which it most likely will as Gorenje use cheap parts). If that's not an issue for you (disposal and installation of new machine) then this is a good deal.
I know a few users of Gorenje. Their washing machines break down too often for my liking but I guess it's down to luck. I have a Hotpoint WM and it has caused a lot of problems so even the more known brands in the UK are suspectible to poor quality control. Just better in the long run to get large appliances with extended warranty these days.

Given the info on the White Goods site, I would be likely to consider a Gorenje the next time the missus blows up the washing machine.

My wife talked to an engineer who came out to one of our washing machines in the past and he said washing machines insides are all the same and usually last the same time. With the expensive brands you pay for the name and all the programs on them that no one uses.... get a machine with a decent spin cycle 1200, 1400 and you will be fine

That's broadly true but the difference in quality lies in the strength and durability of the interior plastics and fittings. The cheaper brands like currys 'essentials' are as flimsy as lettuce.

I wouldn't risk it. You can get the Bosch for an extra £100. Their fridges are supposed to be ok but the engineering for a washing machine needs to be tight.
Some info on Gorenje if anyone wants to know. I have an induction hob of theirs and it's fantastic!

Just used your link for this product katherine24, and under "frequently asked questions" they say that there is a 5 year guarantee offer on some products, but don't say whether it's parts and/or labour, However they do say to check with your local supplier who will have all the details.

Not a good brand, difficult to get parts so 2 years guarantee is pointless.

Never heard of this make. What's their provenance?

Agree but since people still buy "big" brands that used to be good but no longer are if it's a choice between this and those brands might be worth going for this especially with the 2 or more year warranty.
