Get your blood pressure checked at your local Asda pharmacy and purchase a Salter blood pressure monitor for the not-for-profit price of £7.50. Every home should have one! Asda are supporting Public Health England’s new adult health campaign ‘One You’. High blood pressure is known as the silent killer. Keep a regular check with this monitor. Get it checked a your local Asda pharmacy first. It only takes a minute and could save your life. I found out my blood pressure was high a few years ago and i'm now on medication to control it. Also a few lifestyle changes could make a big difference like giving up smoking, cutting down on alcohol, regular exercise, cutting down on red meat, eating more fresh fruit and veg etc....

Most pharmacies offer a blood pressure check for free, heat added for the blood pressure monitor price!

Good B.P machine price. Note for people with very large arms (and very skinny arms) a different cuff is required to ensure an accurate reading.
Please get your blood pressure checked at least annually!
If you are know you get 'worked up'/tense/nervous when having your BP checked by the doctor (hence high at the doctors), it's good to have a machine at home and you can record readings there. Your doc may well suggest this. Make sure you use the cuff correctly though.

Excellent advice. I self diagnosed at home and went to the Doc and something else was discovered which needed to be fully checked out. I have developed 'White Coat Syndrome' for some reason so check mine at home regularly. Peace of mind.

Blunt but not strange, and I do agree people don't realise that this is serious disease which continue to do damage silently for years unnoticed. Needs to be more awareness.

No, questioning it is the strange thing - it's absolutely true. Ignorance kills!

Just called in ASDA and got one. My BP was up a couple of weeks ago and this is exactly what I need to keep a check on it. Thanks for the heads up OP!

Thanks, OP.
For those who are wondering if they have to make an appointment to get the device at £7.50: I just picked one up from a display in front of the pharmacy counter and paid for it at the checkout with my other shopping.
