With a NUS extra card just found out Odeon cinemas offer an extra 25% off student cinema tickets so for example the off peak Birmingham price is £4.50 for students but would be about £3.35 if you simply present your NUS extra card when buying your ticket. The peak price is 5.75 with discount it works out about the £4.30 mark. This is in participating cinemas only but the list is large as i have checked ba few random ones and they all seem to do it. offer only valid Monday to Thursday and includes 3d films.

Unfortunately you can't as the ticket has a black rectangle on the top of the student discount ticket. When they check your tickets as you go to the screen, I've been asked a couple of time for my NUS card for that ticket.

wow, what bargain odeon you got by you? If I book online at my local odeon (Bridgend) its £9 to see a film with student discount :disappointed:

There's 2 in Birmingham. The original one on New St and one at Broadway Plaza (pretty nice too, used to be AMC).
I can only guess it's because of competition from surrounding cinemas as the Odeon at Dudley (which is HORRIBLE) is much more.
Also there's extra fees for bigger films like BvS is £1 more and Civil War is £1.50 more.

Last time I went to the Odeon was on a trip to London.. £12.50... EACH... So much cheaper up north.

Don't be surprised if they ask to see your matriculation card also (for all the "fake/online" NUSers out there!) As student card is required for the initial discount where as NUS is the extra off that (NUS is not a student card it's a companion to a student card!) . Most will overlook it but some do check and that's why they prevent online booking. Of course if you're a student it's all good unless you want premier or dbox and these are excluded - for me I stick with cineworld!

How come the Birmingham odeon is so cheap? The Coventry Odeon is £7 off peak, I may as well get on the train over there.

Competition could be a factor. The two Birmingham Odeons have two Cineworlds, a Vue, Everyman, Electric and an Empire all within a few miles. And the fact that Birmingham is a dump with a relatively deprived demographic. How it still holds on to its "second city" status is beyond me.

Our Odeon is minimum £9 for 2D films. More for 3D.
However with the opening of a new Independant cinema in the area, VUE have reduced their tickets to £4 any time, any showing, any film (£5.60 for 3D)
