Good buy.
Only thing is when the hell did Argos start being a computer component supplier? Really bizarre line up of stock e.g. tons of power supplies, yet only 3 CPU's only 1 of which is AMD, yet they have about 9 AMD motherboards. Really defies logic as to what stock they have.

Probably because computer components are for the masses nowadays. It's not like you're making your own silicon wafers. You just plug it in. Even kids are doing it nowadays.

Great PSU, I have one and it runs flawlessly. Fan only kicks in when needed.

Got 750W version of this from Argos mid January ago for £87.99 which was cheap imo Came the following day which was surprisingly fast.
It's absolutely great quiet and stable voltage plus 10 year warranty (make sure to register on EVGA website). Overclocked i5-4690k to 4.8GHz on air with no problems and not excessive voltage. Could probably get to 5GHz which I'm yet to try.
Definitely worth it if you need this much juice. Hot price

I got the 750w but it didn't say anything about having to register for the 10 year warranty on the box or in the box? Does that mean I only get the 3 year warranty? What a scam.
If I hadn't bought my Antec TruePower Classic 750W for 75 from ariapc (also 80+ gold, but technically tier 2 and not modular) I would have gone for this one in a heartbeat
Could someone please let me know what the difference is between the 2 models below:
EVGA SuperNOVA 850w G2 PC GOLD
and
EVGA SuperNOVA 850w G2 GOLD
Thank you!

Good PSUs but the 550w version for 75quid is also good enough for a high end CPU and GPU. You only need 850w if you have a dual SLI setup. Note as well power efficiency on the smaller PSU for a low sub 100w draw when the PC is not gaming will be better.

Not really I have done a bit of research and the more wattage is actually more efficient. Check out the video on YT by linustechtips

about the same price point, got mine for £92 on bespoke with some stupidly high cashback rate
good price for this though, excellent psu. was regularly £89.99 on Amazon not long ago, was on my wishlist before snapping up the rx850i
recommended wattages are generally very overprovisioned to compensate for people having bad psus. Looky here for instance http://www.guru3d.com/articles_pages/msi_radeon_r9_390x_gaming_8g_oc_review,8.html They estimate the consumpion of a card under load at 258 watts, and
"On your average system the cards require you to have a 800 Watt power supply unit as minimum.". Those guru 3d findings are consistent with other 390 reviews btw, and we are talking of a top tier psu here.

If you want a PSU and think you may upgrade to something more power hungry in the future (unlikely as consumption is only going down) then this is a fab buy. Check this video out to learn why this is good even for a lower powered pc - http://youtube.com/watch?v=MPvj1cs77qA

Had one for a year and it's never missed a beat, even with an overclocked CPU and overclocked GPU's in crossfire or SLI.

Hmm what's the difference between this and the GQ series? I ask because there's a 750W EVGA GQ powering my dual xeons + GTX 970 and it's mostly silent but spins up its fan when the CPUs get going and it's the loudest thing in the system.
Wondering whether the G2 fixes that with improved efficiency or a higher fan threshold or something

Any way to put some Love2Shop vouchers towards an online purchase? Seems a bit of a con that I have £40 of vouchers sat here but I can't get this item in a physical store!

I'm not sure about an online purchase however this item still has a normal catalogue number (307/2949) so you can still order it through the tills in store as a home delivery item. That way you can pay with Love2Shop vouchers etc.

Fantastic PSU, easily powerful enough to run all but the most extreme of systems. On top of that, it's of top notch quality and runs silently when it's not under load.

You should be ok as long as you have a proof of purchase. Considering it is 10 years it's likely you'll no longer have it after such a long time if anything goes wrong. EVGA website let's you upload an invoice so it only makes it easier in case you need to rma

Yes the register within 30 days for the 10 yr warranty is a bit of a sneaky one!. Unfortunately they also insist that you supply a copy of the purchase invoice too at point of claim. My advice, scan the invoice and save it somewhere safe - in addition to the paper copy!.

Bought the 750 for this price a few weeks ago.
They are behemoths, barely (and I mean barely) got it to fit in my case had to bend some of the cables coming out of the PSU more than I liked. It has 2 operating modes; in normal mode it is horribly loud but in Eco mode it virtually silent (there's a switch on the back to select modes).

Hi, can I ask if you definitely received a G2 version of the psu? Reason I ask is because Argos are listing two EVGA 850w PSUs, and the one linked here for £99.99 doesn't say it's a G2 in the title despite the pic & description being g2. Wondering if they've screwed up on the ad and people are actually being shipped the non-g2 version?

The G2 series are arguably the best PSUs on the market. EVGA warranty is second to none. These are made by super flower too which is amazing. To top it off they are only 2% less efficient than the P2 series. Such value for money. Although will be buying the 1600w G2 myself tbh.
