I ordered one a while ago for more than this and it is a brilliant little camera.
just don't buy it for 4K or 2.7K as the FPS is too low, but 1080p @ 60FPS is awesome.
also if you need batteries the SJCAM ones not only work with it, they also improve the battery life quite a bit.
they do the same cameras from china a couple of quid cheaper but I would personally not bother as whist they always arrive, they can take over a month to turn up.

I had a similar issue with it seemingly recording over the previous video every time, so there was only ever 1 video available to playback. Seem to have resolved this by formatting the memory card via the settings menu on the camera. I have seen some suggestions that this issue only affects 64Gb cards, so would be interested to hear if anyone else has experienced similar?
Apart from that, very impressed with it. The app they recommend works nicely too, just need to work out what half the accessories are for... :neutral_face:

Yes i know that but ive been using the plastic cradle on camera as a dash cam because there are two mounting threads top and bottom

You don't need to. Look in the accessories, and you'll see another clear plastic rectangular back plate. This one has two vertical cut-out slots - one either side. Simply use this to replace the current back plate and you'll be good to go.
The clear plastic case is waterproof to 30m, hence the cr.@p sound. By using the open back plate, you'll get reasonable sound - however, it's no longer waterproof :wink:

Sound is atrocious when its in the plastic cradle, will have to drill a hole in that when i get time. Also seems to delete recordings even though card isnt full. Quality is ok for price.

I can't seem to get 1080p/60fps to be selected in my settings?
Is it because I'm using a cheapo Chinese 64GB card?
As I intend to use this when snorkeling (as well as on the beach and on a boat) does this come with an attachment that I could use to secure it somewhere on my body that will allow it to be quickly detached when I want to film something?

Totally your choice, but AFAIK BangGood (and the other Chinese platforms) use a drop-shipping system for the EU where they use fulfilment companies to remail the items. If you have to return something, it generally has to be returned to their warehouses in Guangdong - and the postage costs from the UK to China are extortionate!
If you do a search on eBay for "4K action camera" (or similar terms) you'll soon see that almost all the eBay sellers are in fact representatives of the same Chinese companies anyway. Typically, they will have sold 50K+ items and have 99%+ feedback.
I buy shed loads of stuff from China, but recently the Chinese companies seem to have taken over eBay and Amazon and typically only charge 10%ish more than buying from China. Plus, you will usually get the item within a couple of days rather than the usual 2 - 4 weeks.

It's only £40 from Banggood EU though. Surely I wouldn't have to return it to China if I bought it from them would I? They accept Paypal so I guess that should provide the same protection as buying from e-bay, without the hassle of searching through vendors on e-bay and comparing listings, feedback, etc to decide which one to buy from.

Loads of these 4K H9 action cameras are now available on eBay for around £36 to £40 (from UK sellers). I decided to buy from within the UK because it's far easier to get a refund via eBay/Paypal if there are any problems, instead of having to pay a fortune to return a faulty camera back to China.
Search for item number: 291706376595 to see an example listing (For some reason, the direct URL is getting mashed by the HUKD forum coding. There are plenty of different sellers to choose from, so do your own research)
It seems Eken isn't the actual manufacturer - it's a generic mass-produced action cam called the H9 model. The general consensus from users / YouTube footage & reviews is the 4K mode is pretty much useless at 10 FPS. However, the 1080 at 60 FPS looks particularly good.
One more useful tip I found yesterday - if you remove the SD card, this camera can be used as a reasonable quality web cam too!

Even though I won't need this until July for my holiday, I'm tempted to pay an extra £8 and get the EKEN H9 from Banggood EU for £39.97, considering the warnings about Gearbest but BG don't seem to sell this battery/charger kit. Is there anywhere else I can get that from for a reasonable price?
Also, how much space/min does 1080p/60fps recording use, so I can make sure I get sufficient SD card(s) for the recording I'm likely to want to do on my holiday?

Will be replacing the SJ4000 on my drone. I read that the batteries and cases (including the waterproof housing) from the SJ all work with the Eken, which is great.

Yes, as stated it comes with all variety of mounts. Only annoying thing is it doesn't have a screw thread in the actual camera base itself to attach to things, it pops into a little frame if you want to mount it on stuff, or put it inside the waterproof case.

tbf the gopro seemed incredibly flat and would need some sort of grading processing as its so wishy washy
only time it looked better was on people imo as ekin was abit oversaturated
the level of detail seemed much higher on ekin and the shadow detail thing could partly be as its -0.7EV as it seemed a bit darker overall anyway (and contrast possibly too high)
any sharpening/contrast/saturation options etc on these?
is there any dynamic range optimisers for video editing or would that take crazy processing power?
colour balance also too variable with ekin
(had sound off but will trust the review!)
didn't actually realise they were so wide - its basically constant fisheye which isn't great
any with a narrower field of view?
