Why is it being voted cold when it is massively cheaper than Amazon or anywhere else?

Anyone ordering Seasons 1-4 should remember they were filmed digitally in SD, so Blu-Ray is almost entirely pointless for them.

actually it isn't. I was sceptical too, but recently received the Christmas box set. the sd filmed eps look fantastic on bluray compared against the dvd releases.

Series 1-7 on blu ray is £213 on amazon at the moment - so even if S5 is full price (the only missing one I think?) then this is a bargain. Thanks OP

Thanks for this... dont ask how but I got from this to sarah and duck pj's for my daughter at £9 lol.
Just gave them a call and asked if they could retrospectively apply it.
The answer was no - they even said as they are closing discount codes are not being accepted.
Worth a try, and too late for me to re-order as a lot of my order is OOS

Cancellation e-mail received today from BBC shop. Just waiting for a second e-mail from them now confirming if I will be receiving any of the five I ordered. All rather annoying but there you are.
tiggerloveslife to Diggler01
11 Mar 161#34
Was this the e-mail you all received or was it different...reason I'm asking is I've just phoned them up and they said that they decided to send out a mass email warning everyone of the possibility of cancellation and this didn't necessarily mean that you wouldn't get the items...they just thought it was better to give everyone a heads up at the moment and send out the mass email as they've had an unprecedented number of orders and as they have to manually go through every order individually to work out what stock has been allocated and what hasn't and there are only 2 of them working with the cancellations it's going to take them a bit of time to work through all the orders especially as there's a bit of a problem with their warehouses stock control system at the moment...
On the other hand to put things in perspective even if the items are cancelled it's not exactly the end of the world as I asked the girl I was speaking to if the staff were going to be out of a job with the close of the on-line shop and she said yes so to me the "loss" of a few cheap clearance items compared to the loss of a job doesn't exactly seem to be of huge importance and no doubt other offers will eventually come round.
Anyway the E-mail I got is as follows:
We have experienced unprecedented demand over the last few days and as a result many of our product lines have gone out of stock very quickly. Unfortunately, this means we are unable to fulfill some of the items in your order.
We are currently working through the order cancellations and refunding customers (in cases where payment has already been taken), however this will not be completed until around Wednesday 16th March.
You will receive an email confirming your cancellation has been processed along with the affected items. Where payment has already been taken and a refund is therefore issued, this should appear on your account within the next 21 days.
Please accept our apologies for any confusion or inconvenience caused.

They have no stock really do they? Ive had cancellations for all my orders now despite it saying in stock when I bought and still saying in stock that evening. No wonder they are closing down.
I promised it to my daughter as well so now have to pay double. :disappointed:.
Not ordering anything else.

I've not had any emails of either kind, cancellation or delivery, so very much in limbo, they really should have expected demand with a closing down clearance sale. :disappointed:

To be fair I think the HUKD crowd (or we could possibly say vultures :stuck_out_tongue: ) quite often take companies and websites by surprise especially if the words clearance, mis-price or accidental double voucher discount or words to that effect are mentioned in a post :stuck_out_tongue:

Absolutely no idea to be honest as I was just repeating what the lady I spoke to on the phone said....the only reason I gave them a phone was I was wondering if they could possibly tell me if I was going to get one of the Blu-Rays I'd ordered as if not I was going to "upgrade" and order the more expensive BBC exclusive version of it from their site instead as it was still cheaper than elsewhere but didn't want to go ahead and order and then end up with 2 copies of the same Blu-Ray set with the same content but just different covers.
Got to say the lady I spoke to was lovely and I don't think I'd be so cheery, polite and helpful if I was facing redundancy and being harassed by phone calls and people complaining.
GCuppaTea
11 Mar 161#39
It is really sad that these people are losing their jobs, I don't think many people will realize that or even care about it when they call up and complain about an order and there was no way I would go and do that, that being said I've just received a dispatched e-mail on all my order so it looks like I've been lucky. But still, I hope people remember that these people are facing unemployment and if it were me, I probably wouldn't be a very calm person if I had angry demanding customers and I commend the lady you spoke to for her decorum during your conversation with her.

11 Mar 16#40
I didn't phone to complain. Was just annoyed. Their site isn't written right. Eg I bought an item that said 3 in stock yesterday before I ordered. Just checked and still says 3 left.
Ice had a refund for my original order now.

Thanks for the info you found out there, appreciated  That is the email I got - I had pinged them a mail with my confusion asking if it may be a mass-send type mail but wasn't expecting a reply yet (even without knowing all that is being done by only two people?!)
Notice there's a sign on the site now noting that there has been high demand too! Easy to forget about the people losing their jobs as you say - easy to assume that the web staff would be taken on by the BBC Store and the warehouse would be incorporated into BBCWW for shipments to retailers, but it's rarely so simple isn't it!

I wasn't talking about anyone on here, just meant that they're will be some people who'll be unfair. Agreed some of the stock is wrong but the site is closing down and a hell of a lot of people are ordering, its bound to cause problems. Plus with a lot losing their jobs, I wouldn't be surprised if they stop caring lol I wouldn't blame 'em!
Diggler01
11 Mar 16#43
Yes, I received the same e-mail you have pasted in your comment. Will see what happens when they write to me again. If I get the items good, if not, I won't make a fuss as these things happen.

Apparently the BBC Store is based in Cardiff and the BBC Shop is somewhere else....at least I made the woman laugh when I said that explains what happened to Torchwood and I'm glad they've found something else for John Barrowman to do
Just had a dispatch email for my first order this morning...only Blu-Rays that haven't been dispatched are Season 4 and Season 7 of Dr Who (1, 2, 3 and :sunglasses: have been sent...no idea whether I'll get the other ones or not but really not that worried...if I get them great, if not it's not exactly the end of the world and at least I'll have "saved" £25.63 that I hadn't intended to spend at the moment...the HUKD curse...spend money to save money

I made three orders over the past week - mainly books, but the Spearhead from Space Blu-ray and the Tom Baker scarves. The scarves order turned up today (yay!) but one of my book orders has about 50% of it cancelled due to OOS (including the Blu-ray :-( ) Still waiting to see what will be sent from order number 3...
