So this is their fifth attempt at making a game. What are the chances that this one is getting to the point where it's worth playing as opposed to the embarrassing standard they have set so far?

Would be interesting to know which games you consider to be at an acceptable standard as opposed to the poor standard FromSoftware churn out. Games like Fighter within, Knack, Hanna Montana etc set poor standards, Souls games do not. Just because you happen to dislike a series of games, doesn't mean they're poor, just means they're not for you. For example, I loathe the Batman games, yet i can still see why others would like them.

I find a lot of the people who dislike these games are people who want to have their hand held or steamroll enemies from the start, like they do in almost every other game they play rather than actually change the way they're conditioned to play games.

It sounds like he's trolling. I love the Dark Souls games. They are all about 'gameplay' and challenge. The DS games break the mold of todays game trend of blowing the budget on story, tedious long cut scenes, a few QT events (to break up the long tedious cut scenes), stripped down game mechanics and just dumbed down gameplay. Cue IGN, '10/ 10. Amazing story and acting'. Yeh but what's the game like. it's not a **** book or film it's a video 'game'.
