Ready for the zombie apocalypse?
Probably one of the most important purchases you can make.
If you value your data then you will need a flash drive which can take anything you throw at it and come back for more.
It's not cheap for a 64Gb flash drive but no other flash drive is built like the corsair survivor.
This is fire resistant, 200m waterproof, shock resistant, can survive the harshest accidental punishment you can throw at it.
Corsair holds a competition for the public to find ingenious ways of destroying it. Loads of videos of this thing being barbecued, frozen in blocks of ice, smashed with hammers, ran over by cars, shot with guns, smacked by golf clubs and the USB drive still survives.
Perfect for professional photographers, filmmakers, action sports, mountain climbers or your average joe who want to know their personal data is safe.
There are files which I do not trust in digital forms stored in the cloud.
So if you have irreplaceable photos, swiss bank account details, insurance details, copies of driving licences, passport details etc then it's a small price to pay for piece of mind. Imagine trying to find your insurance documents after your house has flooded, good luck with that.
£24.99 at mymemory.co.uk, I think this is best price at the moment, tcb and quidco applies

Like to use it as keyring, would like some data unencrypted (movies, photos), but also an encrypted area for confidential stuff - any ideas what free software to use ?

We can ask North Korea. They are always testing.

But disappointing but again. This sort of drive USB just about the speed.

Due to these implications I suggest standing within the vicinity of a nuclear blast. However this is unlikely to be good for your health. It would be a useless futile test if you just placed the USB device as close as you could to it as you'd probably never find it again.
Aka, I doubt this has ever been tested! ............

Which country would let you use one of their nuclear warheads to test a USB.....

Will this survive a nuclear blast? If so, I'll need this to save some movies if everyone's gone but me and my USB stick.

I doubt it has ever been tested. You could of course go to one of those country's that have an avid interest in such things & try it out yourself. However you may not survive to find out the result.

I've had this (maybe the early version) for a while. It is big but I still use it as a key chain but might put some people off. It is USB3 and is quite fast, might be faster stuff about but it's not slow. Mine is quite battered, the stickers come off after a while and the black paint has chipped. It is very study as it still works and has had many bangs and bumps. On mine the rubber protectors are not very secure, I've lost them a couple of times and down to one now (should really super glue them on). Corsair are a amazing company. When I first lost my rubber protects I did a new thread about this on the Hexus forum (Corsair section) and they sent me some new ones free of charge and I think they came from another country.
I'm still happy with my but still thinking of getting another one at this price. I think I originally paid around £65 back in the day.

Any idea of write speeds. I know if your wanting this specific thumb drive it's not just about speed but it's all relevant.

It's a great stick, I have the mk2 like this but in 32GB and it's seen 3yrs+ plus of reliable service on my keys. Also fast read and write. It's chunky, but no chance of damage and I've shut it in door frames before in a rush on way out of the office,

I forgot to add, a couple of things about this drive;
This is the new version, the earlier version had a weaker key ring hoop, this new one is much thicker and stronger.
This new stealth version looks great in black.
It's slightly bigger than a standard drive.
If you use a thin laptop or a computer where the USB ports are really close together then your laptop may not sit flat on your desk or you may not be able to plug another USB port next to it. In which case invest in a USB extending cable this will allow you get around the problem.
Hope this helps.
