Amazing. I am about to spend £1000 so this is great timing. Will be able to use the nectar points to buy a tube of toothpaste at Sainsburys I've been saving up for.

That largely depends upon where you prefer to shop. For me Tesco rewards are pretty much useless whereas Sainsbury's Nectar I can also get points from eBay/Paypal purchases and use points to pay for purchases. I can use points towards purchases at Argos among many other places. I purchased a large freezer at Argos and used Nectar points towards the cost along with a voucher courtesy of HotUKDeals. I got it for a very low price as a result.
I does make a difference where you shop/purchase. I do not waste time on Tesco rewards.
Why don't you Google for yourself. It's similar to Tesco Clubcard scheme but worse rewards.
