Co-op are doing another deal similar to the Christmas £10 deal, this time for Easter, fantastic for a small family. This runs from 16th March untill 29th March, saving you £10.22 off retail price. Is a national offer.
Deal includes all this for £10
- Lamb Leg 1kg
- Aunt Bessies 12 Yorkshire Puddings
- Albert Bartlett Rooster Roast Potatoes 750g
- Co-op Peas 400g
- Co-op carrots 750g
- Profiteroles 16 pieces
- Haagen Dazs Cookies and Cream
Information given from co-op doesn't state a veggie alternative I'm afraid, but have a word with the staff in your local store and they may be able to help, as my wife works at co-op and she always trys her best to find an alternative.

Hard to say hot or cold, depends what you have locally. You can get a 2.2kg lamb leg in Asda for £8.80 (£4.00 equivalent for 1kg) Yorkshire puddings are pennies to make, Morrisons wonky potatoes £2.00 2.5kg (60p for 750g) if you're not fussy and watching the pennies. Morrisons frozen garden peas £1.91 (400g is 51p equivalent), Morrisons wonky carrots 50p for 1.5kg (25p equivalent to 750g) Going to estimate the ice cream and profiteroles at £2 as the ice cream is part of the £3 deal at Morrisons but you can buy several brands £1 at the moment. So you could get the same thing, assuming you have the same local supermarkets for around £7.36.

I was wondering if anybody with other stores nearby would compare prices - thanks for that.
As we only have coop nearby then it's take it or leave it with these deals - cheap compared to normal coop prices, but as someone has pointed out, own brand items not always great so that reduces the value of the deal, also these 'ready roast potatoes' don't keep well, and for those of us trying to cook as few times per week as possible then microwave another day (it's amazing how it cuts down the electricity bill) they're not great unless eaten straight away.
Not a blinding deal for us this time, but obviously good for some people.

Hi, I'm guessing it's for stores that can stock it, smaller convenience stores might not have the room(promo takes up whole freezer end). Best bet is to check with your local store, pop in and ask. Promotion packs were sent via email to stores today so participating stores will have info. Hope that helps.

If a store isnt ranged for the £5 deal then they can't get the easter of Xmas meal deals in. It should be available in stores which stock the £5 meal deal though

I wouldn't advise anyone to go proper vegetarian unless they spoke to a nutritionist or read a good book or two. Very easy to do the wrong way. Most peoples/companies view of making food vegetarian involves replacing the meat with a pile of empty carbs like rice or pasta. Need piles of fruit and veg, every day, and hunt out the healthy alternatives, eg quinoa, bulgar wheat, lentils, beans, quorn, etc. Which all add decent amounts of protein.

I say as little as possible on the subject to avoid rocking the boat - I want her to eat meat for its nutritional benefits, and so that we can all eat the same thing...

tried to get this today, my store though posted did not have it up yet.
This deal could be even cheaper if they used wonky veg.

And why shouldn't someone expect to find options for a demographic of 7.6m? And at the Co-op no less. I'm sure if you walked into a restaurant, you'd expect there to be meat on the menu. And I'm not sure who you think you're reaching by pointing out people have the option not to buy something. I'm pretty sure that's common knowledge.

Don Mega's comment clearly demonstrates an expectation that veggies should be accommodated for - I'm just pointing out that they always have the option to not buy the deal and instead find an alternative either within Co-op or elsewhere.

This deal is not good value for money but if you have a small family and or you struggle with preparing the potatoes and making yorkshires. This deal could save you some time.
Lidl will be selling a leg of lam for £3.79 a kilo from tomorrow, Morrisons will be doing cheap 28p veg from Friday. If you are not fussed about branded yorkshires and haagen daz, you can get yorkshires for under a quid and ice cream for a quid.

I don't think it's entirely unexpected for people to be surprised there isn't a vegetarian, or even a healthier, option that is being incentivised to buy. Considering they market themselves as being so ethical and socially responsible. And no one said they were obliged, just pointed out the absence. Why do HUKD carnivores get so defensive.. anyone even mentions the lack of a veggie option and there's a stream of passive-aggressive condescension.

It's crazy that meat is sold so cheaply given how expensive and resource intensive it is to produce as opposed to veg. About 98% of animals are fed on grains. Cut out the middle man/cow I say. Cheaper food all round.
Cameron92
16 Mar 16#34
Exactly.
The options are either buy the deal on offer or don't. Stores aren't obliged to provide vegetarian options on every deal they have. I'm sure there are plenty of vegi goods they could buy in the Co-op or indeed any other food store for the same price or less.

You might want to point out to her she's not a vegetarian, by every definition.

I think it's more a comment on the issue of social responsibility. Encouraging healthier eating. So then maybe we won't be the fattest country in western europe.

Eat meat presumably. My 13 year old "vegetarian" daughter likes crispy duck from the Chinese, and lambs liver with oniony gravy. Bizarre... But I am grateful as it means we can all eat the same thing now and again!

I think you have to price the utility of the deal as well. Much like the M&S dine in for £10, sure you can get it less if you make fresh. But there is a value in being able to just **** packaging and bung in the oven. You only have to watch people in Farmfoods/Iceland at Christmas.

HAH, I was *just* thinking that when I saw the list in the OP - man alive, they are quite indescribable. We quite liked the peas last time right enough, but the carrots are a no-no - ended up chucking them in with my beef olives and some stock, that softened them up enough to be edible...
