Dirty tea or 'cheap and filthy' tea as I like to call it has been getting more and more expensive. I can remember back when I was a kitten, it used to be about 20p for 80 bags.
But last time I went into Sainsbury's it had gone up to 40p for 40! A penny a cup!!! Robbing, thriving, scummy, &^*%. I was outraged, miserable and depressed when I saw this in Sainsbury's last time, as I relish a cup of flith.
So I was delighted to see it was still 40p for 80 bags in Morrison's today. They understand what a dirty cuppa should be.
Also 20p for 40 in Tesco. Thought I thought Morrison the better deal as they furnish you with a cardboard box. Something dirty tea has been deprived of for about a year now.
No, it isn't foil wrapped. Yes it does come in two individual plastic wrappers inside the box.
After the Waitrose dirty tea debacle (worst tea I've ever drunk) where it tasted all perfumey, I really needed this little boost.
Inb4:
They sweep this off prison floors.
You must have no sense of taste.
I only ever drink PG Tips/Tetley/Typhoo/Twinnings.
Only immigrants would drink tea this cheap.
How many USB ports does it have?

:smile: I use one of these: AmazonUK Sage Tea Maker - The only way to make tea! And it is no more difficult than making a singe cup, in fact it is easier as it is all automated! even keeps it warm for you, saving more time! :smiley:

In all seriousness, they just serve completely different purposes. If you've got time to sit down and make a pot of tea, you're probably not going to do it with a value tea bag.

I don't get why people would drink such nasty tea! There is more to life than trying to buy everything silly cheap!
Lets say you spend £5 on 125 grams of loose leaf tea, you get about 50 cups or more from that working out at less than 10p per cup! I will happily spend 2-3 times that for a nice cuppa!
At the very least, pop into marks and Spencer and get some half decent loose full leaf tea, £1.50 per 125g box, working out at about 3p per cup!
Give Tea the respect it deserves and drink the good stuff! :smiley:

I really like the Sainsbury's ones too and the fair trade bit is a definite bonus. Having drunk a few last night I think Sainsbury's are preferable, but not by loads and they are now twice the price.
I would have stuck with them had the price not been creeping up. I have Yorkshire Tea, PG Tips and sometimes Clipper in the cupboard at the same time. I try not to get too hung up on any one brand.

I used to make trips to Sainsburys specifically for their Basics Fairtrade tea. It's really good and tasty, though it will work out more than this deal (can't comment on the quality of Morrisons savers bags).

True. But I have tried a fair few value variants and was disappointed. Also makes you wonder how it is possible to pick, prepare, package, ship, display and sell this for 40p. I have tried this, someone at work brought some in. It was fairly strong, I suspect it is low end Fannings and dust in this tea.

I don't it, it never ceases to amaze me what people pay for stuff without even trying the cheaper versions. Value tuna for example, 55p a can for pole and line caught but people just pick up 4 cans of John Wests for £4 without even looking. If you try it and don't like it fair enough but at least give it a go.

Why do we always get the stupid Costco posts, not everybody has got or can get a Costco card so these posts are irrelevant to any post that is on HUKD. I can get PG for less than a penny per bag but it is no use to anybody on this site because it is at a wholesalers in Benidorm, but at least you don't have to have a card or a friend with a card to shop there.

Ye, I've used these for years too... Massive percentage price increase lately. I drink several mugs a day, so think a weaker one is better, considering. Took a leap of faith and am working my way thru the boxes I bought that were one of the last Lidl weekend deals ( sob!). Added heat for this deal, as, if you can get into the budget teabags, and drink tons of tea, you'll save money, and getting used to a weaker cuppa will be better, I reckon :smiley:
