My old car, from 2005, used...0W 20 semi synthetic, but I guess that's because it was a hybrid.

​i also would have thought 5w-30 being the norm, maybe all the cars in the last 4 years use 0w-40 but I'm not sure

Don't see everyone driving around in brand new Mercedes cars maybe its the norm where you live however most cars are oil specific to what engine they are running on. I know most VAG group cars run on 5w30 oil and I am only having a guess that most manufacturers are running to this grade. Because the last few cars that I have owned, the latest being a 2014 Mercedes, have all required oil with a grade of 0W-40. I think wrong, really?

Should be 4£ a litre

0w-40 seems to be coming more of a requirement these days.

Just a heads up .....the Amazon offer and link (to the £24.99 price) is for the older Castrol oil. If you look at the Amazon link it says "there is a newer model of this item" which is more expensive

That makes comparisons a bit tricky !
