Saw this at my local ASDA. Reduced from £9 which is also the current online price, though pretty sure I have seen them cheaper in Argos and other retailers. Didn't buy one but took a picture.
The Casio FX-83GTPLUS is the UK's best-selling scientific calculator. Allowed in every UK exam where a calculator can be used. Suitable for use from Key Stage 3, 4 and above and recommended for GCSE, A/AS level, Standard and Higher. Provides 260 functions and is battery powered (AAA batteries, included). Large 10+2 digit display. Auto power off. The Natural Display (Natural-V.P.A.M.) shows mathematical expressions like roots and fractions as they appear in your textbook increasing comprehension because results are easier to understand. FX 991 ES is a better calculator for A Levels and above but more expensive.
Helps you to get many more marks.

This is a better choice for the long term, most universities don't accept anything above fx-83 or 85 I believe.

Beware if you want to use this for anything but school work.
I have had two Casio scientific calculators in the last few years and they have both been a bit of a pain to use, and eager to tell me 'syntax error' whenever I press a wrong key. Several useful, often used functions such as reciprocal and +/- need more than one key press and don't have a dedicated button.
They seem designed to be used in schools to teach maths rather than to be a useful tool for a person who needs to do maths at work and doesn't need a pedantic calculator to teach him the subject..

they do have a dedicated reciprocal button.....
If you can't get the syntax right on this calculator, good luck with others....

I bought a sharp calculator and I really regret the non intuitive layout in comparison to the Casio. The memory key is next to impossible to understand

Been trying to work out how much I would save if I bought this, but I can't as I haven't got a calculator so will have to leave it for now.

Great bargain, this is the ONLY calculator you should be buying for school kids, will see them all the way through to uni and beyond.
Batteries literally last forever which makes the solar version a waste of money in case anyone was thinking it would be good to have.

As an Alevel maths student this is wrong, as the are unable to solve many types of equations which the Casio Fx-991es plus can.
My college pretty much forces you to use one as it save valuable time in exams.

Ridiculous price if widely available. You won't have seen them cheaper.
