Visited Plymouth's national marine aquarium last week and was told that an entry to the aquarium also came with a free yearly pass! Thought this was a great deal. Would recommend the aquarium, we had a lovely day out!

No need to keep going back, there is plenty more fish in the sea elsewhere :sunglasses:
Kidding. Heated.

We've been a couple of times to The Deep and visited this one last year, it's good and worth a visit but not as good as The Deep, I doubt we'd return here but already thinking about a third trip to The Deep!
However Plymouth is awesome and much nicer place to visit than Hull!

The Deep was the same when we went a few years back, you just had to sign the gift aid form (never made use of it though).

Was the same for me when I went few months ago didn't think much of the place but it's handy for somewhere to go on a rainy day

It is excellent and far and away 20,000 leagues ahead of the other aquariums in the UK, some of which to be frank are pretty poor and have never improved since they opened. The seahorse collection in particular as fantastic, but its all good.
No use to me as live in Scotland, but heat as I guess its useful if your more local.

Can't be worse than London aquarium, majory dissapointed with that one. Wasn't as good as smaller ones. Like Great yarmouth. Heat, can't grumble with the value.

This is a great aquarium, as is The Deep in Hull. Sadly both are too far away from us to make multiple trips. We're stuck with The Blue Planet which is owned by Merlin and therefore a horrid rip-off

In what respect is this place a national aquarium?

They haven't. I think the pic OP used is from Okinawa aquarium in Japan.

We went once several years ago but didn't think it was all that good for the money, couldn't get out quick enough really!
Typical naff British idea of an 'aquarium'. Stick a few tanks in a place, dim the lights and charge silly money.

Lived there for 21 years and only went to it once, maybe 10 years ago.
Ice cream shop outside was good though, if it is still there.

Went there last year - annual pass has been in place for a long time now!
Didn't think much of the place - THE DEEP is still the best. Even my kids agree on that!

if you book online prior to your visit, it's slightly cheaper and you still get the years entry included.

We went to Plymouth last year mainly to visit the aquarium before going across to Devon the following day. We were so impressed with Plymouth we've booked a short 3 night break in July for my birthday, really looking forward as I loved the Barbican waterfront and rest of the coastline with the lido and all the little bars
By all means go to Plymouth aquarium but it's Plymouth you'll remember

we live in Plymouth and this is great to get the kids out for the day. Although I must add that the free return doesn't count on first 5 bank holidays after getting it. for anyone able to go an extra couple of hours down the eden project does the same free return for 12 months.
