The Bosch PLR 15 Laser Rangefinder technology provides high levels of precision every time for quickly measuring lengths and distances. Whether you’re measuring just to hang pictures the same distance apart or to see if a new piece of furniture will fit in your living room, just switch it on and off you go.
Easy to operate
The design of the Bosch PLR 15 keeps it simple to avoid a need for specialist knowledge, and instead can be used to take a measurement at the use of just one switch. The Bosch PLR 15 gives a continuous measurement which can be stopped with one press of the red button and then restarted again with another press. This simple design makes it even ideal for individuals who are new to laser measuring technology.
Accurate laser measurements
The Bosch PLR 15 offers accuracy of +/- 3 millimetres up to ranges of 15 metres regardless of the distance being measured, as the laser is beamed in a direct line towards the intended target. In comparison, rangefinders using ultrasonic technology can only offer accuracy of +/- 50 millimetres over a distance of 10 metres as the waves emitted spread wide and can hit multiple objects which all deflect and therefore can provide false results.
PLR 15 product features
With dimensions of just 100 x 36 x 23 millimetres, the Bosch PLR 15 Laser Rangefinder is a small laser rangefinder, fitting comfortably in your hand and easily into your pocket. The Bosch PLR 15 is also quicker to use than a tape measure as well as more accurate and capable of greater distances. The sliding switch feature makes it a quick and simple to use tool so even those with less experience in DIY can use the PLR 15 with ease. The soft grip provides protection to make it a more robust design which gives the PLR 15 a longer lifespan, and also makes it comfortable for the user to handle.
LED display screen
The LED screen has a backlight to illuminate the display screen and make the results easy to read, as well as give the tool a modern attractive appearance. After using the hold measurement function and having restarted the continuous measurement function, the LED screen displays the previous measurement that you measured and stopped on as well as the current measurement now being taken.

What a ridiculous item. What's wrong with a metal tape measure that's half the price and half the size?

To be honest, probably invaluable for surveyors and estate agents as well as builders. I'm assuming super accurate to use as well as probably a lot easier than a tape measure to use. Used to have one of these, not a clue where it went mind. Tempted by this today!

Got one of these a few weeks ago. A little unstable, crashes/reboots randomly, and the Bluetooth connection is a bit hit and miss. OK for measuring longer distances but won't do small ones very well.
Needs something for the laser to bounce off, like the lady in the photo is using the picture frame. If it wasn't there, she couldn't measure the distance.
Good price.
Edit - just realised this is the PLR-15, I have the PLR-30 which has quite a few extra features. Not sure I'd spend so much on such a basic model as one of the big wins on a laser measure is the value added functions.

problem I have with mine is getting it dead level ,
the distance measured varies slightly with angle
for accurate measurements I always check with a tape !

I don't get this. I take your point and I have thought that some sort of integral electronic spirit level would make measurements more accurate but you'll have the same angle problem with a tape measure won't you?

Reviews are very good, 4.6/5. 536 rate it 5 stars. I've got one too and found no problem with any of the measuring. Maybe you had a duff one.

I have a cheaper chinese version, but it seems pretty damn accurate up to 20m (and does 50m I think).

most definitely stick to tape measure, I measure carpets for a living and these electronic devices make significant mistakes at times, and costly ones!

Coming from a technology world where some people can't even remember a password they set this morning, I'm not surprised gadgets like this "don't work" for some.

The problem with these is the human interface connection.

Bought one of these from Homebase a while back, think I paid around the £30 mark.
Has been excellent. Can't fault it. Accurate and far easier than using a tape measure!

Think I'd always double check with a tape measure anyway, would I trust it to cut a £500 worktop? Probably not....

Having bought a laser measure, I wouldnt be without it. There are jobs where a tape measure is still easier (typically cutting things to length). But for certain scenarios, that previously took 2 people to hold a tape measure, laser measures are brilliant.
Cant comment on this specific model, have got a Bosch professional.

love mine which I've had for about a year. it's not a tape measure replacement... you cant really use it to measure where to cut a bit of wood, well you can but it's easier with a tape measure. This device comes into its own measuring out room dimensions or finding the centre point on a wall so you can hang a picture etc. This is why you'll never see an architect with a tape measure anymore.
For example, if you want to measure the width of a room at three different heights you can do it with this in about 30 seconds on your own. Want to do the same thing with a tape measure it'll take 5 minutes and you'll need to bring a friend.

They are good for measuring rooms as you can do it by yourself - no need to have someone else to hold the tape at the other end of the room. I needed to buy a ladder for painting my new house and I found this great for finding the highest point from ground to roof (around 7 metres) - thus knowing what ladder size to buy. I still use a tape measure for measuring wood for sawing.
