16g of fat though per 100g :disappointed:

And? You need fat in the meat or it will be tasteless, you obviously don't cook much :stuck_out_tongue::smile:
If you deem it too much it's not hard to scoop, drain or ice cube off.

So 16%? Which given a healthy diet consists of 20-30% fat content isn't a big deal.

Voted hot, I'm normally paying this price for 500g

Couldn't find it in Southampton, price was £5 for 1kg

It's decent mince. I use it for making burgers

What, there are still people that don't actually ask the butcher to mince up a cut of beef of their choice in front of them?
Sorry but you got no idea what is any of that pre-pack filth so you deserve all the bad guts and negative health implications it brings.
I would have thought that by the year 2016 everyone would be a little bit more wise to what they buy 'fresh' because at the end of the day we all eat enough rubbish we can't vouch for whilst out already :disappointed:

Try not to think butchers are the best, you'll occasionally catch them handling the meat and then money without cleaning their hands and money isn't the cleanest thing about

Not at all. So your saying meat is tasteless without it being full of fat? Really?
I cook everything from scratch thank you. Care about what goes in your tum and it will thank you later in life

LOL. I prefer the term food Stasi myself because they are more fanatical and self righteous than normal police.

Considering I hate old bill and I'm actually what some would describe as ultra conservative I resent the terms police and Stasi, feel free to label me a 'food fascist' if you like as at least that is more appropriate.
As for trying to cxxx me off for being suspicious of processed food, and minced meat of all things, well it shows your average illiterate 6 year old with learning difficulties is more clue'd up than you.
I even pointed out earlier I'm the first to admit I eat a load of shxxx that I have no idea about whilst I'm out so how is that "fanatical" eh dinlow? Sorry but that's exactly why I just think when it comes to fresh food that I can monitor it's all the more reason to buy decent quality!
My favourite home cooked meal is probably Tafelspitz, the closest cut of beef we have to that in the UK is silverside and I insist on there being a certain amount of fat on it because after two or three hours of it simmering it has all evaporated anyway and it does add to the flavour.
I appreciate scratchers like you, and I'm sorry you clearly are a scratcher to be championing cheap n nasty processed meat, probably think Bernard's turkey drummers are a proper Sunday Roast but I don't, now on your way tschüß tschüß

Who said anyone here "can afford the very best" then?
Though I'd like to throw this in there ....... if you can afford smartphones, tablets, all sorts of other devices to go online and afford the access to come on here then I'd have thought you can afford to choose a cheaper cut of meat and ask the butcher to mince it up for you rather than buy this processed packet rubbish #justsaying

Excuse me!!!! I only commented stating the fat content and get jumped on. No way I'm a food sob but I care about what goes into my children's bellies. And you can eat quality good Foods without buying cheap nasty meats bulked out with fat! Fat isn't tasty! Think it's down to the persons lack of cooking skills

Fat IS tasty, humans are hard wired to have a preference for fat, due to it being the being the most concentrated source of energy. Some fats are essential to a healthy diet, living on carrots won't do anything for you, other than giving you malnutrition. Also, watch any cooking show, worlds best chefs use fat all the time, I'd hazard a guess they are more talented than you in the kitchen.

The worlds top chefs do not use meat like this. Normal fat on steak etc, yes. Not cheap mince with added rusk, fat and the rest of it. Think you might need to watch some more if those shows as your clearly missing vital information. Bloody hell its mince!!! quote=spaceinvader]Fat IS tasty, humans are hard wired to have a preference for fat, due to it being the being the most concentrated source of energy. Did it not cross your mind I might have actually been talking about the butchers behind the meat counter in the supermarket?
Erm clearly not :smirk:
You see unfortunately there ain't many high street butchers' shops left .....the Sainsburys, Cohens and Asquiths of the world have gobbled them up.
Though to directly address what you were lobbing about ...... I wasn't even going down 'Hygiene Lane' as I was referring to the dreggy cuts of meat that are used for supposed top grade mince, never mind the budget abortion, so either way your point was rather irrelevant but thank you for your input nonetheless.

Do you not cook the meat after you've bought it then?
And what's a few grains of Coke going to do to you in amongst your chilli?

Re-read my comment, I never said they use meat like this, quote the post where I stated that top chefs use cheap supermarket mince, you can't, I said they use fat, and they actually do regularly use fat for flavor [here is an article from an academic source proving fat adds flavor].
You make the implications that fat is bad (post #1) and that anyone who uses it is a talent-less cook (post #15)... You're being arrogant about the whole thing, so don't get all bent out of shape if people call you out on it. You're also twisting my words to create a false representation of my opinions and then countering that false representation, because it's easier to counter fabricated opinions than real ones. You've done to other people who have replied to you. For that reason, I'm done engaging in discussion with you.

Crikey. Aren't some people touchy. It was not an attack on any one individual, merely an observation that every time someone posts a food deal on here they get slated because there is too much fat or too much sugar or whatever. We are adults and most of us are sick of being lectured to endlessly. As for being a scratcher! I'll treat that with the contempt it so richly deserves. Bye.

Erm I'm not lecturing anyone, I was stating my opinion which happened to be stating the obvious.
As for the adults comment, hmmm yes you're stating the obvious but I'd add to that how many of us adults are buying this plastic shxxx and feeding it to our kids?
Sorry but they don't know any different and thus can't make an informed decision on whether to eat it or not.
I merely believe in eating better quality grub as much as possible, this pony is clearly poorer quality, and that's the bottom line.
I'm not going to lecture anyone for buying and consuming it but I will question their wisdom and criticise them for it ....... they don't need lecturing on what crap it is because they know that already, hence they're going all defensive about their reasons for buying it #caseclosed
Edit: bye :stuck_out_tongue:
