Which console possess an all great library of games, to be fair...none. The Wii U is no different from 'rival' consoles in this matter. Yes, a bit more research into said Wii U games is required due to a lot of them not being marketed strongly, but persist and the rewards are plentiful, be it retail, Indie or Virtual Console.

These types of games at these prices (HOT) and people still trying to find fault with the Wii U and/or its library of games...#nearsighted.

I'd say Mario 3D world..or Windwaker HD (for the who haven't played it before)..it will be one of the Nintendos first party titles..if really an average 3RD party game like Bayonetta was the best Wii U could offer then we could all agree with those saying Wii U is a disaster of a console.

Fps are fine on ps4 and xbox one, not everybody wants to build a pc according to sales figures. On the otherhand, how are you telling people to skip consoles for fps yet complaining that your wii u isnt great for youtube and amazon.. And spotify

That's an FPS which has been milked to death. PC has way better FPS games.
It's called Backwards Compatibility with Wii and GameCube games.

You can play the Wii discs on it too... so Wii U possesses twice as much MPT as the Wii does

If the Wii U doesn't 'posses' MPT, how am do I own and play it via my Wii U? No, the Wii U definitely DOES 'posses' MPT. Your mistake.

5 out of the last 6 years, the biggest selling console game has been a Call of Duty  4 out of the top 10 were also FPS last year.
Last FPS I played properly was Unreal Tournament, Tried CoD II on the Xbox but gave up as I didn't like using a controller. Looks like I'm in a minority!

The online is just awful isn't it? But I'm still regularly playing Mario Kart and a host of other games. We've got some fire sticks for the rest, so the Wii U is just for gaming.

Probably because soggy toast isn't particularly enticing?
Tell me, does your mobile phone take photos? Play music? Send messages and emails? Host your diary? Play videos? How unnecessary. Surely we just need it to make calls? I personally prefer to carry round a digital camera, portable DVD player, iPod, pager, PDA and diary and just make calls on my phone. Oh wait, all those other things in one smartphone is incredibly useful and convenient - plus it makes great quality phone calls!
I notice your use of the word 'primarily'. Who here is suggesting that consoles should 'primarily' be anything other than game machines? I thought I made it quite clear that the Wii U has a lot of great games that I enjoy. It's everything else that it doesn't do so well. If all those other things weren't important then why are consoles not like the NES any more i.e. purely game players?
I have no opinion on your last comment.

The Wii U doesn't 'posses' Metroid Prime Trilogy it's just available digitally via the eShop. Big deal.

The amiibos sure are starting to feel like they're becoming more important than games for Nintendo and now with Ninty making smartphone games.. get ready.

Don't give me that. You know damn well there's no "perfect console" unless you count PC which has games from every generation, so then, I suppose PC wins. To be honest, the Wii U's underwhelming but it has its gems. GameCube is still the best Nintendo console game with a vast library of games going through first to third party games. Wii U is on life support and that's thanks to Nintendo keeping on releasing new Wii U games or else it'd be done for.
This. Using a console for first persons shooters is kind of laughable.

so why doesn't your washing machine make you toast in the morning? A games console, by definition, is primarily for playing games.
unless you are interested of those people who believe the myth that the best Sony BR player is in a PS4.

I didn't buy it as an all-in-one entertainment box, in fact I had the Wii U long before my PS4 and used to use it all the time. I was just explaining why it doesn't get as much use nowadays.
Also I'd argue that it *was* a mistake on Nintendo's part not factoring in those things as much. I think the Wii U's poor sales performance and the premature push for the NX is testament to that, though I recognise it's multifactorial. Streaming, social integration, multitasking, third party apps, snappy performance; these features are important to people. Obviously I'm not going to fault them for focusing on great games, but why does it have to be one or the other? There is room for both.

Ok, but to be fair, buying a Wii U for the purpose of wanting an all in 1 entertainment box was your mistake and not Nintendo's who since the NES place the emphasis on a GAMES console above anything else. Sure, additional features are always a plus, but a place a premium on GAMES when purchasing a GAMES console.

I agree the choice and/or variety of FPS's - for the Wii U - is tiny, but it does posses Metroid Prime Trilogy...that must be worth something. Oh, and it's also backwards compatible with ALL Wii games - no strings attached.

To be fair, if FPS is your whole gaming life then you probably ought to be on a PC and avoid all the consoles.
I love my Wii U but it hardly gets any attention these days. It's too slow and just can't compete in terms of extra apps (I use YouTube, Spotify, Amazon video, Netflix and PLEX a lot), multitasking or social features (Miiverse is good just not as fluid or integrated as PSN/XBL). Which is a shame because many of the games are fabulous, including this one (which I would rate above DMC any day!).
Bring on the NX.

Replaying TPHD made me realise how long the game is and if I'll finish all 22 chapters before March 18. It's definitely worth picking up TPHD as well as Bayonetta 2. The issue with Wii U is that it's a very niche console and the user has to selectively pick the games he/she wants to play because they're not all great.
