Heard this is pretty dead on the PC.

It's pretty much dead on every platform.
Yep incredibly inferior, It's based on the same engine as BF4 so no better visual goodies. It has less vehicles (No tanks / BTR's, attack helicopters, jets). The multiplayer objectives don't make much sense...steal a car and keep driving around in it?
I only played the demo but even then, I noticed the maps weren't that polished or large.
And all of that wouldn't have mattered but EA had the cheek to charge £40 for the game and £40 for the premium package. £80 for a rehash of a previous game? No Bueno for me! And apparently that was the same for everyone else as well, so now the multiplayer is horrible as there just aren't as many players and single player isn't that great as it was made for the multiplayer market!

Is this really that inferior compared to BF4?

Yes! And BF4 can be found for about the same price these days for those who still don't have it. The single player isn't very good at all (as with BF3) but the multiplayer is very much alive and well, and great fun unlike Hardline.
The price is low on this for sure, but it's still £4.99 too much.

I was really hoping this was going to be the BF2 Special Forces expansion replacement (using zip lines etc)
Hard to say if £5 is even worth it... Nothing can beat BF4 in terms of fps and they developers still add the odd new map now and then

Better than BF3?
(I've only got BF3 and BF 2142 at the moment.)

I pumped quite a few hours into the PS4 version. It wasn't a total disaster of a game. It was quite enjoyable for the most part. It certainly had a better launch than BF4 in terms of stability.
The game modes are very different. The car one was stupid and still is. The other ones aren't too bad.
If this still had a good player base I would say £5 of the queens finest would be a 'steal'. Certainly not better than BF4 but still has its own quality.

It's worth £5 just for the story mode...
You'll get a game of Blood Money or Conquest if you're willing to give multiplayer a go.
This game was killed before launch by haters calling it "DLC" but when it comes down to it, the main failing is that it's too different to previous BF games and a little more COD-like (fastest finger 1st, no reward for strategy).
I still play from time to time - it's nowhere near as bad as people make out but it's not as good as BF4.

Unlike BF4 and BF3...? Regurgitated garbage - the biggest failing in the game is that it wandered too far from the proven BF format (large, dynamic maps that reward strategic thinking). And yet you have pretty strong opinions on the game :smirk:

^^ +1
I still play this on the 360 and find a MP game easily when I switch on around midnight, so still people out there playing.
BF4 is good, but my fave was the Vietnam content on BFBC2

Vietnam was cool - mowing people down to the sound of Ride of the Valkyries was great
Guilin Peaks on BF4 was reminiscent of the Vietnam maps.

Yeah Vietnam was great fun, such a shame these expansions now all lack the option for user created content (and AI players). My fav though was BF2 Special Forces.

It was only ever in-store and I'm guessing not all stores will have the game at this price :disappointed:

When I first clicked it, I selected my local store and it showed as £4.99 - something happened and I reloaded the page and it shows as £12.99.
No big deal, I own the game already and was going to pick up a few copies for some friends who didn't want to buy it full price.

Campaign is utter garbage. I've attempted playing this twice now and both times got bored. Time to free some hard drive space.

Use Gametracker to get an idea on PC servers (don't forget to allow for differing time zones)
