The price of flowers always gets inflated from about February 12th to just after Mother's Day.
These 2 events are quite a stable occurrence, Valentine's day and Mother's day, happens once a year?

Not surprised they have loads left, they were charging £10.00 for a bunch that was normally a fiver

I am a flower buyer (not for Asda) wholesale price of many flowers this Mothers day were over double the cost compared to the prices just 1 week before. It was due to the combination of a very early date and falling within a few days of Ladies day (Ladies day/Women's day is the biggest date in the international flower calendar, especially in Russia) http://masterrussian.com/russianculture/womens_day_march8.htm
Flower prices are controlled by an auction, more demand and the higher the price. In 34 years of being a flower buyer I have never seen so much demand for flowers as I did this past week. The prices were out of control.

Didn't see them reduced in my local ASDA superstore roughly 3 hours ago! Must be store specific.

Crikey - flowers must have sold well in your area, even the main florists up here are selling flowers at half price. No jokes about us Scots being tight on Mothers Day!

If they're mother's day flowers they'll be reduced by half price. It wont have a whoops label on it because it's a HQ markdown and not a in-store markdown and it might not be advertised because whoever is running the show is incompetent, but the flowers will scan as half price.

It's actually international women's day tomorrow 8th March, and in some countries it's traditional to give ladies you know a flower(s) - no romance implied, just a way to be nice to ladies.
In one country I lived in, it was a bigger thing than Valentine's day, with all the cafes and restaurants full of groups of ladies out socialising.
