Dulux (not sure about trade line) is crap.

Recently renovated whole house - brilliant white paint used

I've used most of the brands available Leyland, NoNonsense (screwifx own), Crown and dulux.

All of the brands instead of dulux fully covered walls after two coats.

Only dulux required third coat - this was most expensive paint £20/10ltr, while rest of them cost up to£15/10ltr

Also all of the paints looks like brilliant white. Only Dulux looks yellowish.

This was my biggest shopping disappointment in 2015.

If you looking for white paint stick to any cheap brand Crown, Leyland, Screwifix, etc.
Don't pay extra for adverts.

The Crown white and magnolia 10L tubs at B&Q that are on 2 for £25 several times a year have good coverage, I painted a black satin sheen wall with 2x white and covered well as a undercoat, then 2 x magnolia to finish the job.


The offer is currently on again and includes Silk not just matt now :wink:

Crown pbw paint was just shocking. No undercoat is needed for matt emulsion in a normal house. Every other room in my house was done with 1 or 2 coats of decent paint. 7 coats is inexcusable.

Matt paints generally don't have yellowing problems. Avoid gloss on woodwork as that'll yellow, consider changing to a water based Satinwood instead. This is OK, but Dulux Supermatt gets the job done in less coats and dries evenly. I'd not go back to cheapo paints after having to put up 7 coats of cheapo white Matt (Crown PBW... Read the shocking reviews!) on my brown living room walls. Cheap paint is a false economy!

Best get in before the stay campaign bulk buys...

Heat given but don’t like Dulux paint, Johnstone's paint better in my opinion and you can get 6lt for £9.87 @ Homebase
