Did they ever fix the WiFi problems on this router? From what I can see they never did?

Had similar troubles with my 1043ND (WiFi randomly cutting out, freezing if bandwidth was too high etc). TP-Link acknowledged the problems, but never bothered to provide a firmware fix. Had to go down the DD-WRT route instead.

I got one of these the other week when they were on £49 and replaced my TalkTalk all in one fibre router with one of these and the BTOpenworld fibre modem. Seems to work much much better than the TalkTalk effort. Have some heat!

Good starter router for an AC upgrade.

Given that I have the MK3 socket and I wasn't provided with an openreach modem, can I use this just by plugging it in the Openreach socket?

I have the C2 and it is brilliant. Only issue is it kept dropping its connection with my Microserver down to 10 meg. A firmware update to the latest US version seems to have fixed it. Not sure if this one has the same issue.

Is it still on the website or is it just luck to see which stores have it in stock? Would be nice to upgrade the router at my place.

Can i use this with my hh5 and turn the hh5 into a modem?

Does this work with plustnet fibre?

Anyone know if these are old stock or are they new?

i.e. is the firmware locked, as all TP-LINK routers that have been shipped since around the new year are now firmware locked which means you can't put DD-WRT/OpenWRT etc on them (well you can but its a LOT of hassle). Its due to the US government demanding the router firmware being locked down to stop tampering with the WiFi. All manufacturers will end up doing it, just got to hope that some of them only do it for the US market.

thanks OP, coincidentally i was looking for this model, as read it had good range, and then saw your post, almost impossible to actually ring through to a branch itself to check, they give you a central number, but chanced the trip and managed to get one from the wrexham pc world today, scanned through at £37.97. cheers

I take back my previous comment of 'great find'. The range of the router is awful compared to the Virign Media Superhub ac. I'm boxing it back up for return as faulty as the N frequency is unusable upstairs, and it's this band you rely on at distance the 5g is good at close range but drops out pretty quick in other rooms.
