It wasn’t a great spec phone when I was released but apple aren’t ever about hi end specs. Its more about optimisation for there hardware and a huge list of apps (I’m one of the 3 people who have a window’s phone so I’m not saying android or apple are better than each other but I think it’s a more nuanced and personal that just comparing spec)

Ok I'll bite, I've got both Apple and Android devices, bottom line is imo, Android is pretty much as good as Apple but just doesn't have that quality, slick feel that Apple has, having said that there's no way I would pay twice the price for similar spec.

I'd agree, my son and I have Apple (iPhone, iPad, iPod), Android (phone) and Windows 10 (Lynx 1010 and 7) mobile devices. The difference between Android/Win 10 and Apple has narrowed to almost nothing (which now exposes Apples failings: having no means of memory expansion, no HDMI output, no USB connection, absurdly expensive accessories such as lightning cables). The Lynx tablets are very comparable to iPad and iPad mini (much better in some ways), but only 25% of the cost. Android (and Win10) phones are pretty comparable and cost only a fraction as much as iPhone. The only things they don't have is access to such a large (but largely useless) application library and a sexy badge on the back.
Sometimes I feel a little foolish having bought an iPhone and two iPads (there were different circumstances at the time) and I certainly would not buy another Apple product.

3 Mar 165#26
easy answer... continuing your life as normal. sign onto the new phone with icloud log-in and BOOM, all your contacts, emails, messages, apps and app content are synced to the stop gap phone allowing you to continue as normal. Sure a chinese phone might be better/bigger/newer but for some the hassle of transferring stuff over, finding there might not be the same apps or same quality of apps you use daily, adapting to a new interface and forced to use different apps etc. its just not worth the hassle - to some I might add.

3 Mar 16#27
Amazing how well these things hold their value tho, regardless of personal opinion of Apple. Kinda speaks for itself. Only thing is I'd be wary of battery life. May be adding another £30 for battery replacement at a local repair store, or £50 if you have to go to an Apple Store.

It amazes me how people seem to know exactly what your decisions for owning an iPhone are - I didn't realise so many people could read minds.
For me personally, I'm an iPhone 4s owner - have been for a long time - and probably won't be changing for a long time. In my opinion its the best phone ever made, I've tried changing to the large new Android phones, and even newer Apple products, but I always go back to the 4s. The screens the perfect size in my opinion, it's smooth, it's well made, it doesn't break when dropped, it feels good to hold - especially the weight, and I've never had any problems with it.
msharif911

I change between Apple and Android intemittently and the iPhone is the easier and more stable platform while the Android has more that can be done with it (sometimes to the detriment of stability).
I had the iPhone 4 when it came out and it was pretty revolutionary it its day and compared favourably with everything else that was out there. Right now though, its a completely different ballgame. I have an old one in my drawer and it runs like a pig with the latest OS on it and pretty useless. So I am guessing these wont be all that much better. I am sure part of the reason Apple update the IOS is to make some of the old hardware obsolete.

lol Android lovers, I have both and you can't compare, wife using an iPhone I have a Galaxy both have plus's & minuses but I'd never call them close or even the same. Certainly not the ipad's! I suppose some of the apps are the same but the rest is different , workflow, setup OS..no way my wife will go through all the tinkering I have done to get the galaxy working as I want it. She updates, downloads, plugs in, simple , just not that simple for android and don't even get me started on updates what a ball ache..I certainly would buy both again but for different reasons, build quality and simplicity is Apple & customer support is amazing I get nothing from samsung! And I don't see how people say they are twice the price, have you seen how much the S7 is! best stay a year behind and grab a bargain second hand. As for lynx tablets you have to be kidding me, we have some at work, cheap budget tablet that scratches easily, nobody likes em. But each to their own.

On a 5/6 the The latest IOS is super slick, but on these its so damn slow. Facebook takes a up to 30 seconds to even show anything, the the touchscreen sometimes doesn't respond as the phones busy paging ram. Safari can't handle current webpages with all the adverts etc and youtube just chuggs.

I suspect only a matter of time before corrosion starts setting in on the electrical tracks where moisture remains.
SD cards are a real pain in the **** for both app developers and OS manufacturers to support. Especially if you allow moving apps and app data to them. There's so many dodgy SD cards on the market (claiming to be class 10 etc) which affect performance and reliability then people say "My phones rubbish, it keeps crashing, it's slow".. It's not the phone or the OS or the apps it's often the SD card.
At least if an apple device (or indeed a Nexus device - Google doesn't trust you to use SD cards either) is rubbish/crashing/slow it's the phones fault.

All these Fanbois make me laugh with their Brand Loyalty. I just get from whoever has the best phone at the time for me.
You poor parent, on the cusp of that huge change. You wait. You just wait....

Haha, she is a little sod really!
4 year old phone, it definitely shows it's age in 2016.
Voted ice cold.
On a 5/6 the The latest IOS is super slick, but on these its so damn slow. Facebook takes a up to 30 seconds to even show anything, the the touchscreen sometimes doesn't respond as the phones busy paging ram. Safari can't handle current webpages with all the adverts etc and youtube just chuggs.
you can't flick between any apps, they all shutdown are reopen rather than suspend to save resources.
The OS has killed the phone.
Worth spending a few quid for anything different (Samsung S7 here I come!)
people are silly comparing specs of 2 entirely different systems (Android /iOS) they definitely Utilise hardware differently.
as much as I like file management of android,iOS is much more polished, much nicer and user friendly and almost every thing you want to do is were it should be.oh and security and privacy is definitely way ahead if android.
that being said I keep using both.and will switch between.
I went to leave feedback for the purchase earlier and browsed the store and came across something else, which I've bought and shared here - http://www.hotukdeals.com/deals/apple-iphone-5-16gb-unlocked-with-a-warranty-114-95-delivered-limetropic-ebay-2406763 and I'll know give my little brother the 4S.
Amazon currently have Vodafone Smart Prime 6 at £65 , reviewed here in Stuff Magazine last year:

Wake up guys, sniff the Gold Blend!
At least if an apple device (or indeed a Nexus device - Google doesn't trust you to use SD cards either) is rubbish/crashing/slow it's the phones fault.
IPhone users make me chortle
I wouldn't buy anything less than the 5S for that reason, unless you can deal with a severely outdated phone (I know how bad the 4S is these days, I have an old one lying around)
I was comparing 2 top of the range models from each platform that I own/owned.in response to idiotic coments focused on specs.
I never said an old product still runs smooth snd fast.but still I bet your iPad 3 beats any equilavent android tablet of that era in terms of speed and performance.
What I find chortling is that people like you even click on an iPhone post?
As I said I have probably the best android device (Note 5) while I love it,I cannot deny many superiorities of iOS devices.
or maybe you thought just because you paid more and bought an iPad 3 ,some 4 years ago it should work as fast as it was today? Thats not going to happen regardless of what platform..android,ios or windows.2 years and then its time to upgrade if you want good performance.
as for the battery life...battery life of iPhone 6 plus is hard to match.it's excellent.so dont make false and funny claims.
fortunatelly I have best of both worlds and don't limit my judgment based on some 4 years old devices performance today.
(iPhone 3GS wasn't supported by IOS 7 and later, iPhone 4 wasn't supported by IOS 8 and later)
