Just had an email from Rakuten offering 15% off the Ipad Air 2 64GB via Pixel Electronics - bring the price down from £419 to £359 (according to Rakuten's site the maximum discount is capped at £60).
Also 2095 points worth £20.95 - better than a slap in the face with a smelly fish :)
**Looks like Silver and Gold are also available to choose as the 64GB model currently - same price**
oh...also dont forget a further potential 3.5% off via Quidco ;)

After a few searches, it appears these are imported units and can't imagine Apple uk would honor the guarentee, so the warranty would require sending back the unit to the supplier, could be a bit of hassle, excellent price, would jump at it if this was UK units.

I bought an iPad Air from these guys before Christmas. It was a brand new product but came with a 2 prong plug and a very iffy looking UK adapter. I ended up using all my Rakuten points to buy a proper UK 3 prong transformer, the site doesn't make it very clear that the product is not a UK item.
You have been warned.

At the bottom of the description it says "Imported units supplied with UK 3-pin adapters", while I would just throw out the adapter they ship it with (bound to be cheap), it doesn't cost much to get a replacement, I'm sure most people already have a USB plug charger from another phone/tablet..
splender to indigo_raj
30 Mar 16#34
What a way, you have over done it, no one needs to buy a transformer, it is not a normal nor smart way to get 5V DC charge. Additionally you need to read the tiny print on the Apple original plug label to see if it reads 100V-240V input voltage on it.

I bought an ipad mini 2 from them about a year ago
Very pleased with my purchase, but a few points:
Yes they are non - UK. Mine was from a country that still uses UK plug (Hong kong I think). I had read other reports from people where it was from a country that doesn't use a UK plug they get an adapter instead - of course you can use your own USB adapter or plug into a USB port on a laptop/PC to charge - whichever you prefer.
Apple still honour the warranty regardless of country it came from, just in the same way if you bought one on holidays in the USA or Europe they will still help you.
Pixel seem to get their discounts by buying in bulk, and it took about 2 weeks for me to receive it, and I'm assuming this is because they place bulk orders with their supplier every week or two.
If you want an ipad at a great price that's still supported by Apple UK, then go for it.
if you want guaranteed next day delivery then perhaps best to look elsewhere
thanks

Your receipt from the people you buy it from is when the 60 days starts - this is your proof of purchase date, not when they bought it from distribution/Apple etc.

30 Mar 16#17
You're right, I already had a standard iPhone charger but this only outputs 1 amp and takes ages to charge. The iPad chargers output 2.1 amps and charges the bigger battery much quicker.
The adapter they supply looks like it would burst into flames the first time I used it, getting another adapter was just another cost I wasn't expecting. Saying that, I probably still would have bought this item again.

I have an iPad Air which I quite like, it's not as fast as I would like and wanted to get rid of it. Also YouTube on iOS sucks compared to Android, there's no back button so for example if you watch a video and then you see a selection of other videos recommended below the main video you're watching you simply can't go back to them, but you can on Android. I've tried all gestures including rude ones and showed it to a mate who uses iOS everyday and he said yeah looks like YouTube is broken deliberately on iOS as Google own YouTube.
If you disagree try it yourself, search for a video, then you get a list of other recommended videos below the main one, watch the video full screen, then try and get back to the recommended videos, you can only go back to the main YouTube page, you can swipe down the video but it will take you to the wrong place. I use YouTube a lot and this is a massive disadvantage to the Android version. In fact it's ridiculously poor, so I'll have to try out some other apps that let you watch YouTube.
Anyway I'm keeping the iPad Air as I've recently seen GeoShred and that has made me want to keep the iPad for years, that app is incredible, screw Android for tablets even though YouTube is better on Android, a lot better.
GeoShred is an amazing musical instrument, or to phrase that correctly, GeoShred turns your iPad in to a unique and simply amazing instrument >

I just done what you asked, on my iPAD Youtube, any version, after viewing I can go back on the page with the recommended list of videos after a search. This is how I did it, on full screen . I pressed screen once, and then see on the bottom right corner an icon next to the end time of film, this would shrink the full screen back to part screen, then you would see the list of recommended videos from before in the search. Then I pressed to minimise the part screen, by pressing the "v" on top left hand corners of the part screen video. Then the part screen was minimised to a small video screen on bottom right hand corner and then I got back to square one, the beginning of the long list of recommended videos from the initial search. And on the screen there was even a back arrow to go back to the orginal screen where I entered the search words, all stupidly easy to do without reading an instruction.

You get a years warranty when you register with Apple. I have seen a previous comment where a member had their IPad mini repaired by Apple without any issues.
The adapted you get is fairly rubbish. Dispatch can take a while as I presume they sometimes have to wait for items to arrive in the UK. Items are dispatched from within UK (so no import fees) and once dispatched will be delivered next day by FedEx (no tracking info supplied though). I have ordered from them 4 times and been happy with their service and even more happy with their prices.

Just a quick word of warning my fellow people:
IMPORTANT RESTRICTION FOR iPHONE, iPAD AND APPLE TV SERVICE.
Apple may restrict warranty service for iPhone, iPad and Apple TV to the country where Apple or its Authorized Distributors originally sold the device.
Although they tend to service regardless of the country where the device was purchased, they could end up throwing this back in your face.

DAZZ2000 to ronaldmacdonald

Yep, old news that. Apple have reduced them to £429 from £479 or thereabouts and yes this is due to the iPad Pro 9.7 announcement - although I can see an iPad Air 3 coming out in Autumn and likely at more than the iPad Air 2 is now.
So it's pay £429 or pay £359 ...decisions decisions :stuck_out_tongue:
feedtheshark
31 Mar 16#43
Or pay £200 for an Android device that does most of what this does. I mean I kinda fancy an iPad, I know it's got better apps than Android ones, but paying double for the privilege for such an old device is just too much. I honestly thought the Air was be about £250 by now.

No, AppleCare and AppleCare+ aren't the same. The non+ version doesn't include accidental damage so essentially it's just an extra years warranty.

The iPad has better hardware than most of the Android tablets on the market and light years ahead in tablet apps quality and performance. Eg, the Air 2 can play 1080p 10 bit mkv files where as Android tablets, except maybe one or two, cant. Even my Xperia Z3 with a 2.5ghz quad core struggles badly where as an Air 2 with it's tri-core 1.5ghz has zero problems. So you pay more and actually do more stuff, Android tablets just aren't good enough. It's old but still better than modern Android tablets.

The Air can indeed be had for around £250 - but this is the Air 2 we're on about. I'm not going to participate in the old Android vs Apple debate as I'm in both camps and they both have their merits.
This is the cheapest deal right now for an Ipad Air 2 64GB - if you're in the market for one then hopefully I've helped you. If not, no problem, wait until a suitable android tablet comes up as a deal for £200

I was an android fan too, for the last few years that is what I've used with several phones and tablets, but what disappointed me was the Nexus 7 I bought just over a year ago, the micro USB input is losing shape as the PCB support is not good, the quality is so so, the battery life was great, but then I got the marshmallow update in December, even when it is in sleep mode, the WiFi drains the battery, really fed up with it. My son got an refurbished iPad air on the last deal from Argos and it updated to iOS 9.3 and it is so smooth and that is a 3 year old tablet, can't imagine my Nexus lasting that long. Feel like a traitor leaving android, but I have been very objective and aside from cost, I think apple have a better, more reliable system.

1 Apr 161#65
I very much doubt that. Especially if you're selling it on with no transferable warranty. We've already ascertained that Apple warranty is applicable worldwide - so we're talking a slight difference with the charger worst case by use of an adapter. That's easily rectified if bothered though - Amazon sell the UK charger for £13.58 currently:
If you prefer a UK version Apple have their refurbished ones available at the same price. They are near enough new.

Anyhow, mentioning here in case anyone else thinks they have a fault (its not a fault) if using third party charger. My old Air didn't have this problem, only affects Air 2 apparently. Can not see where you input it...

Hang on uhhh, whut? Are these not the UK region model number - in that case not so good. Looks like apple have crashed the price by about £50, presumably because of the new pro.
Apple Store have the new price: http://www.apple.com/uk/shop/buy-ipad/ipad-air-2
So it's pay £429 or pay £359 ...decisions decisions :stuck_out_tongue:
As for why I'd pay double... same reason I pay more for a BMW than a Ford.
For some, it's badge snobbery but others, it's the engineering or the nicer cabin or something else.
It just depends on your outlook really - we're all different.
If you can find AppleCare+ for £25 then post it up as a deal.
It's the standard plan and I suggested this for those that are concerned about their warranty coverage by buying a non UK model
This is the cheapest deal right now for an Ipad Air 2 64GB - if you're in the market for one then hopefully I've helped you. If not, no problem, wait until a suitable android tablet comes up as a deal for £200
Quidco has also tracked, what would now be good is if the stock is UK or Hong Kong and then no issues with the mains adaptor, I have a few spare units
With the new I pad pro out, this price will go down every where? They are £350 at argos for 16gb
I will be buying more stuff from them, their prices are great

Was a foreign model with a 2pin plug so it may be American /Canadian but they sent an adapter and I've registered it with Apple for a full year warranty as they provide global support.
Overall very impressed by these guys and would order from them again.
Also whilst not a massive consideration, if you're not intending to buy from Rakuten after purchasing the Ipad, but they're giving you a further £20.95 in points - which would more than cover a UK adapter
Moot point now anyway as the deal has expired making Apple Refurb now the cheaper option :stuck_out_tongue:

Just received the following reply after sending Pixel Electronics an email
"Apologies for the delay in dispatch of your item. We have encountered some disruption to our rolling stock during the recent Sale.
I expect your item to arrive with you on Friday."
I ordered on 01/04/2016.
Also registered fine with Apple UK using https://supportprofile.apple.com/
Anyone else able to confirm what language there's is?
The stuff on the back of iPad itself is English
