Acronis True Image for PC or Mac - full version. This is a pack that contains a code that you use online to download the software directly from Acronis. Although the picture shows the 2015 version, when I used my code, it gave me the 2016 version. I don't think the Windows based version is as intuitive as previous ones, although the boot version (which I prefer, anyway) works as it has done for may years. However, I do find it more flexible than the built in Windows 7 backup and restore tool. In any event, Amazon have the same software for £36.61 (http://www.amazon.co.uk/Acronis-True-Image-2016-English/dp/B013DD3VO2/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1456822935&sr=8-1&keywords=acronis+true+image) so £11.99 seems to be a good price.
A few stores have stock but it is available to be ordered into most - mine was available for pick up next day.

I stopped using Acronis when they pulled the "Windows 8.1 is a whole new OS and not a service pack/update to Windows 8, so buy an upgrade. For £40." when Macrium just updated their software at no charge.
Lost me as a customer.
Edit - Even for £12 - I won't give them my money again. I have a long memory and know how to hold a grudge

Me too. Recent convert to Macrium free, used to clone a Windows 10 laptop. Quick, clear user interface, cheap - as in free.
I won't be looking back...

Licence codes for the "HD" version (which does most of the same stuff) are bundled free with new Crucial SSD's and so there are loads for sale on eBay starting around the £3 mark. Works with any brand or type of hard drive.

At a loss why its a good deal to pay someone to effectively bottle 'free air' and sell it back to you at a premium. Plenty of excellent and reliable free cloning tools to do the job better and probably faster. Voting cold I'm afraid.

As long as you have any WD drive connected, the WD edition of Trueimage will work. It does not have to be the drive you want to back up or restore to.
The WD edition is a stripped down version of the full Trueimage product. It can only do full backups and for cloning. eg. you can't perform 'incremental' backups or specify which folders or files you wish to back up.
Just picked up my TrueImage activation pack from local Argos. It does not actually specify what version of Trueimage (2015 or 2016) btw. Instructions just simply quote download Trueimage from website and activate it.
fwiw, I had been using TrueImage 2011 on Windows 7, but discovered it won't install on Windows 10.

I don't get it.
I'm using a 2010 version of Acronis on Windows 10.
Unless the incompatibility is with Windows 8/8.1 only.. Because I gave that a miss

Spent £40 on the latest version at the time, few months after Windows 8 came out and that version I had was incompatible. After a few emails to Acronis, they advised they wasn't going to patch that version to support Windows 8 and must spend another £40 on the new one which had been released that a month.......told them to jog on and used Macrium Reflect ever since.

Voting cold I'm afraid. You simply don't need to spend money on backup/cloning software when there are so many excellent free alternatives.

Is it any good? I have used Acronis in the past and it was quite good but stayed away recently as the re-write got such bad reviews..... Pretty impressed by Macrium reflect free as other people have stated.
If need a SSD anyway, better save the money, contribute to a 128GB SSD at £30.

Anyone know if you can use this to backup the disk to an image file on a (large) usb memory stick then use the memory stick to deploy from should the original HDD fail - i'm thinking pop in a memory stick and a blank HDD and boot from the USB memory stick that also holds the image file.

Most likely.... I got 2013 Acronis for backing up purposes and if you install on a second PC a product activation warning pops up. Annoying for me as I only use Acronis to make a backup every 6 months on a couple of machines.

If you're only interested in creating and restoring backups, and not bothered about the additional bloat the software installs.
Just create a boot disk (CD or USB stick), then you can use it a multiple machines.
All the need to do is temporarily alter the BIOS to select the boot disk, instead of you OS.
A question of my own:
Do the latest versions of True Image allow you to create/restore encrypted (TrueCrypt/VeraCrypt) OS drive backups or do you still need to decrypt them before creating a backup?
Thanks.
