The 5* here relates to the Airlines Skytrax rating and nothing to do with accommodation (none included in this price). It is slightly misleading because most people will assume it's a hotel rating. Maybe a better worded title 'Qatar (5* rated airline)' would have been appropriate, but gota generate the heat
Either way, seems to be decent prices and from experience, Qatar are one of the best airlines to travel with.

Yes. I'm Indonesia (Bali is a part of the country) and I think it's totally worth it making a trip to that side of the world. It will be the experience of a lifetime to you, and at this ticket price, it'd a steal. Go to Bali but don't stay too long in kuta. Spend more time in ubud instead. Language won't be a problem since there are tons of Australia's tourist around (uuurgh) and most balinese can speak English, at least the involved in the tourism trade. If you have the time, I suggest getting out of Bali and seeing the rest of the country too for a bit.

Any tips for finding decent hotels in those places? Never been before. I've checked airbnb and they're about the same price as those in Europe... I thought that neck of the woods was supposed to be cheaper?

I'd recommend Tune Hotel to you. They're basically the budget hotel side of AirAsia, which is a budget carrier in the region. I've stayed with them repeatedly and the experience had been great (and most importantly, clean) so far. Check out TripAdvisor for more reviews. They also have branches in London if you want to check it out locally.

I loved Kuala Lumpur. Been once but would love to go back again - tagging a nice beach resort on too.

went to KL last October ..exchange rate was very good then .Pound is falling a bit now.
Air BnB is very reasonable for decent rooms ..I paid £370 with Turkish airlines flying from Brum so this is really cheap ..Don't fancy a trip to Edinburgh though

To Delhi from Heathrow is just £374 the cheapest. So not that much difference.

Bali is a little bit of heaven on Earth - even Kuta is ok but there are much nicer places out there. The Balinese people are also some of the nicest you will ever meet and you will return laden with wonderful souvenirs if you visit. I'm tempted to go again - my third visit.

No, you have not travelled well and seen the world. "5 Star" refers to something else, and "economy" refers to another thing even though in same sentence they are unrelated. Another e.g. A 5* hotel can have £50 room, £100 room and £3000 rooms (namely: basic economy, premium and luxury presidential...) Here 5* refers to hotel class which is different to room classification.
Likewise don't get fooled stupid by slick PR or political speak like, "we are all in it together" (5*) as the underlying principle is: caveat emptor, "you get what you pay" for and "some are more equal than others".

Don't try to change money in Kuta, all scammers. Too used to drunk Aussie tourists, easy pickings.
unless you go to kuta which is a massive tourist shopping area full of shops.
