For anyone who's never used AliExpress before, there is nothing to worry about  I have been using the site for 3 or 4 years now and have never had a problem other than an item being very late due to the economy delivery. My card has been totally safe with them for all this time. The site largely relies on trust and feedback; the seller will not receive the payment until you confirm the item has been delivered, and if anything does go wrong, you can open a dispute and get your money back quickly as they really don't want any negative feedback.

I lost £240 from Ali Express they never refunded me from a seller who sold me a faulty Hover Board even though I sent it back months and months of stress and never got my money back. Would never buy from them again.

So did you dispute it with your credit card company as you're legally allowed to do so?

Which cctv system did you buy out of curiosity? I'm looking for one and would like a good value one--which is more likely to be the case of buying direct from China.

Yip I escalated through their dispute process, I also had to pay return post and package fees but I did get UPS to return it for free as I told them it was damaged in transit, they only returned it from where they picked it up from which was Holland. I was told it would be a UPS delivery from China but from what I've found out UPS only picked it up from Holland so since the Chinese company haven't signed for it in China and parcel is stuck somewhere in Holland they won't refund me as they say they haven't received the parcel. Complete farce. In the small print in Ali Express they always tell you that you have to pay return postage costs.

You must have had a rubbish seller. My brother bought a hoverboard from aliexpress which was also faulty and aliexpress made the seller also pay for return shipping costs.
Did you actually open a dispute or was it just contact with the seller?
I've bought from aliexpress many times. Some of the cheap stuff that you find on ebay are actually from aliexpress so I no longer bother with ebay unless I need the items urgently. The dispute process is also easy and the few times I've had faulty items they've been refunded quickly.

Yeah my fault I bought a hover board for my daughters Xmas that arrived broke and they never refunded. Lesson learned never buy from that site again.

When a company says upfront that they will take up to 2 months to ship something you have to know that things might very well go wrong. My family and friends are in the US, so I gamble when I purchase things from a site like this. I have never used Ali Express before, but I assume it will be a lot like when I have used gearbest. With gearbest it took a month for items to arrive, but they did. I invested a few pounds and the items were delivered. Trev never should have given them £240, his fault. I, on the other hand, am still hopeful that the £4 I spent will arrive whenever that slow boat from China comes to port.

How can they make, stock, pick, pack, send something for less than price of a stamp and still be making money.

Aliexpress is the amazon of China.
Yahoo have a large investment in aliexpress and virtually all of yahoos stock market value is their stock holding in aliexpress. i.e. Yahoo would be worthless without their early investment.
Plus you have UK card protection and they seem more strict than ebay UK to pay seller.
The sellers are terrified of being given poor ratings.
do all sheets carry the same emoji's on them?, I'm not sure

AliExpress is fine, you have to confirm you've received the item and have a time limit in days to do so.
