Long time lurker, first time poster, hopefully I've done it right.
Just wanted to share this with you guys. Recently just purchased these bulbs to replace some old fluorescent lights, it had decent reviews and it sounded simple to retro fit, some other LED T8 bulbs needed re-wiring due to Ballasts/starters or what not. Not something I can do myself, so opted for these.
Fitted them in under 5 minutes, and they produce a nice bright light with no flickering and instantly power up unlike those it replaced. It gives off a white white, they have other colour temperatures too but I prefer bright white lights so got the natural white colour.
I saw Philips versions, though it's stated only 600 lumens @ £13 each, where as these are 2500 lumens @ £10.94 each.
Hope this helps anyone.

5FT is roughly 150cm's if I calculate correctly, so it should be right, these T8 bulbs normally come in standard X ft sizes, so I'd assume you need 5ft.
To replace it, just change over the starter unit for the one supplied with this kit, LED Starter it's labelled, and pop this new one in. Note that only one side is powered with Live and Neutral in the pins, the other side is a dud, so you'd need to find out which side sends the power through on your fitment unit. Mine was on the same side as the starter unit if that helps?

Went for natural white, finding it difficult to get used to them coming on when the switched is pressed!

Mine received and unpacked and fitted in under 5 mins. MUCH prefer the light these give out - thanks to the OP.

Glad you like them! Which colour did you go for, the ones I posted? If so, they are great right? It makes my workshop much much brighter and lively rather than the doom and gloom orange bulbs!

You sure the starter are not just dummy's. I got ones over a year ago and they had dummy starters. You had to wired one end of the light straight in to the power missing out the starter and all.
The best bit is the speed they start up its great

I believe the starters are indeed dummy starters, it just saves people having to re-wire the unit. There are LED tubes that require re-wiring to bypass the ballast/starter, though probably not an option for most people, which is why these tubes are good because it's just switching the tubes/starters over.

Are they more directional than conventional tubes?
doodalon to Besford
8 Mar 161#14
I believe they are, they have a direction angle of around 160-180 degrees, rather than the whole 360 degrees that conventional tubes have. The LED tubes itself you can twist to angle which ever direction you prefer, rather than just downwards if that helps you?

how easy are these to fit on OP?

These are really simple to fit, it's basically like fitting a new fluorescent tube. Just change the normal starter to the LED starter that's supplied, then fit your new LED tube in. Note that only one side is powered with Live and Neutral in the pins, the other side is a dud, so you'd need to find out which side sends the power through on your fitment unit. Mine was on the same side as the starter unit if that helps.

I don't have a diffuser on mine in the garage - can anyone comment on the harshness of the light?

For the amount of time its on and the extra cost can not see the value compared to normal light in a garage.Relative has one in kitchen and comes on in a few seconds to full brightness

Never knew they did these. Replaced my kitchen fluorescent bulb 3 or 4 months ago. Was in much need too. However it was cheaper (by about 1/2) to replace than this & produces a nice cool white light.

I got a similar product from a different supplier for my garage. Huge improvement on the old fluorescents - come on instantly, much brighter and not affected by low temperatures.

I have a tube light in the kitchen, will this just directly replace it? I tried to measure it there and it seems just a little under the 150cm, would that be right? it's definitely not as small as 4ft. Thanks in advance
