The 4G bands do not include the 800Mhz network which limits your range on 4G. Looks like a decent phone though

Well said. Made in China for China, not UK. Sacrifice the best 4G band for the sake of some overseas seller trying to get rid of it.

Yep, it rules me out as a GiffGaff user. :disappointed:

Agreed. I've voted hot because it's still a good price for the phone, but I live in a semi-rural area so without 800Mhz i probably wouldn't get 4G.
Hopefully the new Mi5 by Xiaomi will support all European network bands.

lot of phone for the money .. camera ok for the money and i would probably take a punt of Xiaomi not shipping with malware embedded as a good few of the nobrand chinese imports do :-(

Xiaomi can have malware just like the rest of them and has been documented having malware from sellers on aliexpress. Its not the manufacturers than add malware, it'd resellers. Xiaomi also had reports of phone home software features that weren't fully disclosed.

These are fantastic phones. Add a tempered glass screen protector as they aren't gorilla glass but amazing value and would be good at two or three times the price. In some ways I prefer my daughter's Note 2 to my Nexus 6P.

You can install bloat remover and remove any added Chinese apps installed. Miui has its own chat server , market place and wallpaper/ringtone downloader installed as standard but it's no different to buying a Samsung phone with all extra unneeded apps. Good phone.

Whats the deal with these cheap high powered chinese phones?
Are they legit? No problems with network / 4g?
Are they reliable and last?

I am interested in getting a xiaomi redmi 2 or 3 but am struggling to find a decent EU price at the moment? Gearbest & Bangood don't seem to have any currently. It's quite a big item to risk tax charges on. This place seems to be in Hong Kong isnt it? So could be liable to tax charges.

I do not trust eglobalcentral. They caused me quite a few issues when I ordered a camera from them in the Summer. Didn't arrive etc. Had to escalate to ebay and paypal. Your choice, all I can do is share my own experience.

Are you not better off buying a smart ultra 6 and unlocking? Spec can't be far off and neither is price.
MrPuddington to Pikiechu

Yes, I would think so. The specs are nearly identical, including the cameras. Only the IR transmitter would be an advantage.

I'll steer clear of this seller from personal experience. The seller is Asia based. I ordered the same phone with the promise of delivery latest by 7 days. I had to cancel and got a refund after three weeks of no delivery and silly excuses like "Moving warehouse" and offering me £10 discount as a goodwill gesture". I ordered the same phone from another seller last week Friday and got it on Wednesday. Anyway, experiences may differ but I'll be wary of purchasing anything from them in the future.

Seeing that you do have this phone, can you tell me if it has NFC and IR port (infrared) pls?

Can you advise which seller you went for instead please? Thanks!

Ir port is present( + or remote app preinstalled). No NFC.

I wouldn't say that's a UK seller.....

I bought an Asus Zenwatch from this seller and it took just over a week to be delivered.
Bit of a nervy wait and given their other feedback I don't think I would risk it again.

It's wasn't meant for the western markets and the they decided that there's no need for nfc.

Random Chinese seller. I'd avoid. Surprised this post has been allowed.
A slight deviation from the actual deal, but bear with me.
I got the 32GB 2.2GHz version from GestBest last October.
On the whole the phone is great. The camera is passable but if you're looking for a smartphone with a brilliant camera, then this isn't it.
Mine came with a few apps I didn't recognise, but suspect they were just MIUI standard things. I use the weekly update from xiaomi.eu and it's been fine.
Where the problems are: I've found banking apps won't work as they seem to think the phone is rooted (MIUI has an option to allow some apps to access root if you specifically let them do so, and I guess it's via that where the issue is). The sound on the monopoly game was distorted for no obvious reason and it's the only game I've experienced an issue.
When I compare it to the price of the premium smartphones I feel I've got a lot of phone for my money. A decent case and screen protector are essential.
Both SIM sockets work and there's a separate micro-SD slot in case I fill 32GB, which with my usage, isn't likely to happen.
As with any of the overseas sellers there's always a risk that if there's a problem you'd be sending it back to them. If you don't want that risk, it's simple, don't buy through them. My Note 2 was shipped from China (not the EU warehouse), it arrived in a couple of weeks and all was well. But I was willing to take that risk and paid through paypal to provide a bit more protection in case things didn't work out.

Oh, with shipping insurance my 32GB Note 2 cost £120 all told.
Just checked the mi5 specs & price. Looks fantastic but it's gonna be around £300 so a different category of price. It's ashame these don't support all 4g bands. I will keep an eye out on the xiaomi range as they look impressive & look to offer superb value, maybe a more budget version of the mi5 will be the answer if they release one which I'm sure they will?

It's around £100 and ships from aliexpress from within the EU. I wimped out and paid £125 from Amazon so I could reject it if unhappy. I wasn't.
