The next massive sci-fi role-playing game from Monolith Soft, the creators of Baten Kaitos and Xenoblade Chronicles, comes exclusively to Wii U. A terrible intergalactic war leaves just a handful of Earth survivors trying to live in a beautiful yet hostile environment.
Players engage in battles against powerful creatures of all forms and sizes using the deep battle system that builds on the triumphs of Xenoblade Chronicles for Wii.
Riding and controlling a weaponized mech, players can explore every inch of the massive open world displayed in gorgeous high-definition graphics. The world is filled with strange and imaginative creatures, from small bugs to giant dinosaurs.
As characters improve in different classes, they will learn new combat and defensive skills, or Arts. Players can customize the Arts palette as their characters learn new Arts. All Arts have a ?recast" time – once cast, the player must wait out a cooldown" period before that Art can be used again.

I was so excited about playing this, I downloaded the 20GB package from the eshop in anticipation of my copy arriving... and then life got in the way. I've watched the opening cinematic, which is in fairness further than I've got with Metal Gear Solid.

Maybe it's my age, but I found the dialogue embarrassingly bad. While it is a game largely about exploration, it does not have a strong story holding it together and therefore lacks major impetus to propel you forward. Gorgeous game though and some strong music.

had issue picking it up today after online reserve, apparently "withdrawn by head office, like those exploding hoverboards" but manager sorted it in the end. going to put a few hours into it tonight. Heat, clearly.

I finally bit at this price and had a struggle getting it from Argos. Their system didn't want to sell me the game, it was saying it hadn't been released yet or something similar. Apparently, I wasn't the only one it happened to.
Took about 20 minutes for them to work how to sell it to me, but they gave me a £10 gift card to apologise for wasting my time so much, so it worked out as a really bloody good deal for me

Loved the previous one but the dialogue and voice acting is so dire I just couldn't play this.

Disagree. It's fine for what it is and in no way makes it unplayable unless if you have ridiculously high standards for a game that focuses more on exploration than story.

There's plenty to see and do in the world beyond the story. It's a magnificent game world to explore, truly.

Just getting into the game after a few hours, although the music is already driving me insane!

Not being able to turn the music off or set it to battles only is my only complaint.

For some reason I'm not liking it anywhere near as much as the first one, but I have only played a couple of hours!
Amazing price though

I was the same but once you push past comparing one game to the other you'll start to enjoy X so much more than you currently are. I think the biggest problem for me was that the main protagonist is mute and therefore lacks the presence of a proper character like Shulk to drive the story forward in the opening few hours.
The game soon opens up and you'll realise that most of the enjoyment comes from spending hours exploring rather than the story.

Was the complete opposite for me, I found xenoblade chronicles boring although that's just me lol. When you get into a skell for the first time... That's when the game gets interesting!

The story kicks up several gears around chapter 7/8... you get some great cut-scenes and character design work.

If you want to make the game as worthwhile as possible, don't make the Ares 90 post game lol! Heat added
