XCOM 2 is the sequel to the 2012 Game of the Year, award-winning strategy game, XCOM: Enemy Unknown.
Earth has changed. Twenty years have passed since world leaders offered an unconditional surrender to alien forces and XCOM, the planet's last line of defense, was left decimated and scattered. Now the aliens rule Earth, building shining cities that promise a brilliant future for humanity on the surface, while concealing a sinister agenda below and eliminating all who dissent from their new order.
Only those who live at the edges of the world have a margin of freedom. Here, a force gathers once again to stand up for humanity. Always on the run, the remnant XCOM forces must find a way to rise from the ashes, expose the insidious truth behind the occupation, and eliminate the alien threat once and for all.
XCOM ON THE RUN: Take command of the Avenger, an alien supply craft converted to XCOM's mobile headquarters. Guide your strike force around the world, build popular support and expose the aliens' sinister plans.
RECRUIT RESISTANCE FIGHTERS: Five soldier classes, each with its own skill tree including new class abilities like Momentum, let you create specific soldiers for your tactical plan
TACTICAL GUERRILLA COMBAT: New gameplay systems offer more tactical flexibility in combat. The state of the world affects each combat mission's environment. Use concealment to ambush enemy patrols. Loot enemies for precious gear and artifacts. Rescue VIPs and save fallen comrades by carrying them to the extraction point
A NEW BREED OF ENEMY: A diverse cast of enemies from powerful new alien species to the ADVENT, enforcers of the alien regime, offer a distinct tactical challenge
RESEARCH, DEVELOP AND UPGRADE: Configure and build rooms on the Avenger to give XCOM new capabilities on the battlefield. Use your Scientists and Engineers to research, develop and upgrade weapons and armor to fit your preferred tactics
EACH MISSION IS A UNIQUE CHALLENGE: Go on missions around the world, from wildlands to the heart of the alien-controlled megacities, to the depths of alien installations. There are virtually infinite combinations of maps, missions and goals
CREATE CUSTOM MODS: Community-focused tools allow you to create your own campaign, tactical gameplay, aliens, classes, strategy game features, and share within the Steam Workshop
ENGAGE IN HEAD-TO-HEAD MULTIPLAYER: Mix-and-match squads of humans and aliens and battle head-to-head on randomly-generated maps.

Im sure there are people who have had not many problems, but it's pretty well reported sadly (the previous title had similar issues - which i found out the hard way). No harm in saving money and waiting for the rough edges to be patched out

(it's weird how relevant this is to me)
I've got an i3 4130 and am upgrading to a 6600k
But yeah, I get roughly 60 fps on fallout 4 (after modding) which seems okay, but I'm wondering is it really worth an extra £100 for the unnoticeable performance? (guess it's all personal preference)
Anyways, I just wanted everyone to know that i3s aren't that bad lol

Not sure I would agree ... it depends how much FPS matters to you... circa 20FPS difference between i3 and i5 in Fallout 4.
XCOM2 recommended specs are:
CPU: Info
CPU Speed: 3GHz Quad Core
RAM: 8 GB
OS: Windows 7, 64-bit
Video Card: 2GB ATI Radeon HD 7970, 2GB NVIDIA GeForce GTX 770 or better
Sound Card: Yes
Free Disk Space: 45 GB
Looks to be far more Graphics Card focused than CPU.
If you plan to play the Likes of Total War, an i3 will likely suffer quite badly on the newer games.
For the cost difference try and get an i5 6600k if you can

If you're happy with a desktop by your TV then go to reddit.com/r/buildapcforme and ask for a small form factor build to your budget.

No. Get something with an integrated graphics card and I'd recommend an Intel i5 processor minimum really, if you're looking to run games well.

Loving the game : had to restart a bunch of times , not really 'feeling' the mechanics of how rushed everything now is in terms of path to victory/loss (it totally fits tho)
have found a middle ground : fired on steam mods for mission timer extension , victory counter longer and bumped the difficulty up to compensate

Should be against the Trades Description Act to call something a 'Gaming PC', and then ship it with Integrated Graphics ...
Look for something with a decent CPU and GPU, along with at least 8GB of RAM and 1TB HDD+
Entry level to get games going is going to cost you around £600'ish, and for something with a bit more horsepower will be £900+
Take a look at dinopc.com ... some good specs for reasonable prices. I bought my last PC from them, and it only cost me £30 more than it would have done if I had bought the components separately.

Put in about 35 hours so far, paid just under £35 for the DE so worth the money! Few graphics glitches as others have said bit don't affect the gameplay. Worst thing so far was missing a 98% shot and getting slaughtered on their return fire!

I have no problems with the game. Nearly completed and seen no bugs yet. Animation action can can be a bit flakey but it's perfectly playable. Loads of mods already think over 400 on the workshop. The game is epic if you like turn based

I've just completed my first campaign on XCOM 2. Made a lot of mistakes in the early game despite being an EU/EW veteran, but pulled it out at the end. Fantastic game and improves on many aspects (adding stealth, more useful squad types etc). I bought the deluxe edition for £35 so now I have to wait for the expansion packs.

steam has a deal going on for steam controlled discount if purchased with xcom 2. do you know if the deal is valid if you purchase the game separately from cdkeys?

I'm loving this game. Xcom EU/EW was my favourite game, the sequel didn't disappoint. Only noticed couple of bugs, nothing to worry about

72 hours in, and I'm on the second last mission. Paid £23 two days before launch, so that's quite the value for money.

Only probs i've found is the FPS drops on the loading screens (Dropship) and the fact that the enemy are a bunch of relentless, unforgiving, remorseless dratsabs! There hasn't been a mission were i have brought home a full squad.

I've read of people enjoying it on integrated graphics in a surface pro 4, I don't think it's the sort of game that requires a lot of grunt to play, it 's just how smooth you want it. it's very choppy on my very capable PC, really does need patches at the moment. us_agent you might find that PC bigger than you expected. from experience if buying new you're looking to commit £500 upwards on a gaming PC. if you want a sleek small unit consider steam machines
Would like something that sits behind/under the TV tbh

Yeah, depends on your PC but it's making some decent rigs run hotter than the insides of a toaster pocket with some serious frame rate issues - not to mention bugs. Sounds like a great game but hoping to hold off until the fixes.
