i buy the Aldi extra mature and its very nice.I fear all these branded cheeses all come from the same place ie.kerrygold.
If you want any special cheese a farm shop would be the place.People were praising the half price cheese offer from Waitrose some time ago and i could not tell no difference from mainstream Aldi and Lidl cheese.Silly brand names don't impress me.

I actually used to live about 100m from the farm. I can assure you that it is very authentically made and a project that is cared for. Back in my day, the cheese was retailed through the farm shop. it's how all these things start!

Sainsburys also do a Wyck's Vintage cheddar pack for the same price.
Delicious if you like a strong flavour cheese.

This isn't in the less than £5 a kilo price bracket (£7.50 a kilo), but bought a couple of 200g wedges of Sainsbury's Cave Aged Farmhouse Mature Cheddar, Taste the Difference 200g in the past couple of weeks currently on offer @ £1.50 for 200g . I think it is a really flavoursome crumbly sharp bit of cheddar. Bit different flavourwise from the usual Supermarket pre-packed cheeses I normally see..

Good price.
I used to buy Wyke farm Extra Mature in clear shrink wrap from my local butcher for less than Sainsbury sells mature. Regrettably he retired recently. Lidl's Valley Spire Extra mature is highly recommendable and also produced by Wyke farm. 350g for £1.59 = £4.54 per Kg.
Opening post
Wyke Farms Extra Mature Cheddar Cheese (370g) was £3.50 now £1.75 (4.73 a Kilo)
