It's against the terms and conditions of Advance tickets to start or end your journey at the wrong station. Fact.
"You may not start, break and resume, or end your journey at any intermediate station except to change to/from connecting trains as shown on the ticket(s) or other valid travel itinerary."
Just because you've been lucky so far and got away with it doesn't mean someone else will be.

This isn't true- I usually get advance tickets and I've never had any problem- Aslong as you don't get on before your allocated station. You're on the train time you paid for so its fine

Why do you feel the need to tell people the offers over when it hasn't started?

I travel to Birmingham every day from an intermediary station, it costs around £12 - wonder if I can buy this ticket and then join the train mid-journey, is that allowed?

Yeah that should be fine! You're essentially saving them money by getting on at a closer station to your destination

This offer will only be for Advance tickets, valid on specific trains from specific start and end points. It's against the rules to travel on a different train, or start or finish at the wrong station. You could be charged the full fare in addition to what you've already paid if you get caught. I wouldn't risk it - and the offer may be valid from your station anyway.
As always with the cheapest tickets, they're unlikely to be available at peak time, only on trains that don't usually get busy.

Hard luck on Sunday but there's still plenty of the season left so don't worry. Still losing to a team like Swansea, doesn't bode well.
