Say this on the tesco mobile site. I think it was £15 before. I'm not quite sure but it might help somebody.

think he means they're criminal for locking them in the first place and phones should be sim free.
which for the most part i agree

it's EU law now that phones should be unlocked upon request. EE unlock for £8.95 online for example regardless of contract length.

What do you mean? Tesco will unlocked it for you and you are not commiting a crime by just unlocking a phone.

Yeah, I would advise you to check eBay for most of their locked phones, never had a problem with couple I unlocked, also I never paid more than 2£. Still if it is older than 12 months this is very nice of them and cheaper than many other networks...

Excellent especially if you own a Nokia you want unlocking. The Lumia's are a right pain!

Someone should tell 02, they refused until 12 months have elapsed, so had to shell out £8 on ebay. Still waiting for the code...

Most Tesco Smartphones cheap & easy to unlock via eBay. I wouldn't wait a year!
Sure, some Nokia ones not so easy to unlock so this is ok for that

thankyou for the info. I just bought my daughter a Nokia Lumia from Tesco in their clearance sale and was going to take it into a shop that unlocks them. This will be a whole lot cheaper, thanks again!

I bought an iPhone from Tesco a few years ago and there was no problem unlocking it free of charge when the contract had finished...

I've always used eBay in the past because UK networks normally charging over £20 . Never had a problem always been a fast turnaround & worked first time . so like the others state I would check eBay if u need your phone unlocking from as cheap as £1.99

Tesco phones are sold unlocked ?? Got an iPhone from them and it's unlocked ? Maybe the cheap crappy Nokias are locked so they make some money off topups as handsets are cheap

I have been waiting since 21January for Tesco Mobile to unlock my Nokia pay as you go. How can it possibly take so long?

Just like Jaymor, I have been waiting a fortnight now for the unlock code for a 2 year old Moto g. Chuffing pain waiting for it, they have had 2 years contract money out of me.
I know I could pay a couple of quid for a code on ebay, but I shouldn't have to!
