Great price for this, even if it is a refurb. The listing has this titled as 'Toshiba Chromebook' however the processor listed is the one in the Toshiba Chromebook 2, making this an amazing price.

I have this and honestly the 2gb ram is not enough anymore.

A quick search online says X220: 1.35kg
Toshiba chromebook 2 1.30 kg
Not sure if that includes battery though. Got to admit I am a fan of chromebooks but if you need something to run Windows programs I would recommend the x220.

x220 weights a ton though

Just bought the CB35-C3340 model from BestBuy in the US to import. I kinda wanted the backlit keyboard from the newer generation pair, but I already love this one, they price matched Amazon.com at $270 (+6% tax), so not the cheapest, but it's lightning fast, the 1080p IPS display is gorgeous, and the PSU is the brick type with figure-8 so no issue for UK lead. Recommended.

The full HD version is miles better, however Toshiba's idea of build quality is something to be wary of. The lid on mine has a very noticeable bend after a few weeks of opening it up, and doing some reading online revealed that Toshiba's doesn't like to uphold their warranty on issues such as screen falling apart.
Lovely Chromebook but I'd rather one with better build quality.
I have now moved onto a x220 refurb as needed to use a couple of windows programs. I had recommended Chromebooks to family till recently but for those who need a little more they should consider it.

Yeah an X220 refurb is excellent value and way more machine, especially if you get one with the IPS panel. Still fancy one of these anyway though

Sangamina:
For business use you could probably go for any of the windows laptops sold by John Lewis in that price range (extra year guarantee).
Or you could opt for the x220 refurb as above. Will upgrade easily to Windows 10 and they are built remarkably well for £140. Add an SSD and ram and for another £60 you have something remarkably sturdy.

Thank you Steford!! Can you please recommend a business laptop for under £200 or £200-250 budget? Thanks again

Missus got one of these today, does indeed seem to be the Chomebook 2. her initial perception coming from a windows PC is that its great.

Hi can I use this or the full hd as a business laptop? Thank you
steford to sangamina
18 Feb 16#30
Hmm. A Chromebook as a "business laptop"? Unless your business is fully tied in to Google Apps I wouldn't. They are handy but you're not going to be running desktop versions of MS Outlook, Powerpoint etc or any other business specific Windows software so it may not be flexible enough for your needs. Online versions are available but I don't think I'd like to rely on them as my only option.

Is the screen useable/adequate? I'm thinking of getting this for a teenager.

The screen is great. Whilst I'm sure the HD is 'better' this is perfectly good and far cheaper. If you need a Chromebook at this price and are prepared to reject it if it's a dud (none of mine from Argos have been) then go for it. I would buy another from Argos refurb tomorrow if it broke.

I've had 3 tablets and laptops/Chromebooks from them and they've all been perfect without a mark on them - no "refurb", just returns. In fact the only thing that's ever gone back was a brand new Acer from Tesco which never worked. Well worth a look.

hilarious... but not true. I had about three refurbs from Argos, including two of my tvs. no problem at all.

Argos refurbishing is usually outsourced and done by D&J Henry.
Have I found flaws in their process, most definitely. Where I work we used to buy a lot of refurbished laptops from Argos and some were still faulty. So there's always a chance you'll get one where a fault has been missed. Do I think D&J Henry are a bad company? No, but there's always room for improvement.

I disagree I have bought several refurb laptops from Argos eBay over the years, Toshiba x 3, Samsung and Asus. All seemed brand new, currently typing on one I have had for 4 years.

Yeah I meant £50 on top of my £160 example. I was just estimating the FHD version price too be around £210 when on a deal, but it does seem that lowest it's ever been on Amazon and elsewhere is £220 - which isn't far off and is a great price.
Nexusfifth
17 Feb 16#18
I think the lowest it has been was 220£ at JL for black Friday.
But I also think he is comparing price for new rather than refurbished which is reasonable to set at 170£ and then his calculation makes a bit more sense.
Reality is, this is a great machine but a lot of people complain about the screen, not just that it is not fhd but also that it isn't good for a 768 panel and some are worse than others.
Baring that in mind I would be slightly vary of buying a refurb.
Another indicator that hd version is not that good, is amount of eBay sellers selling it refurbished/used whereas you can rarely find the fhd version in these conditions there.
Just my thoughts. Argos is of course not just any seller on eBay and you are well covered for the case you get a questionable one.

How can people vote for this being a good deal? I know it's a decent chromebook, but £140 for a refurbished one seems a tad expensive. I bought a new Asus C300 from Amazon for £160 a year ago. I know this has slightly newer/faster CPU but Asus came with 32GB of storage so I'll call it even. I'd say skip on this deal and buy something new for just little more - and try to find an extra £50 for the 4GB RAM/FHD model as you will love it.

Where have you seen the Toshiba Chromebook 2 4gb RAM+FHD for £190? (Honest question, as that would be a great deal.)

I ordered a refurb C720 a while ago, and this picture isn't far off representing the state of it when it arrived. I couldn't see any evidence of a refurbishment process other than performing a factory reset on it. Scratches all over it and dirt between keys etc. Sent back and got a new one instead.

Really good build quality for this price level + chromebooks are very handy everyday use machines.
But as everyone is saying don't look at the hdscreen version if you've already got one of these.
