To an unwitting member of staff it could look like some kind of dirty protest against the standard of service in the hotel which I happen to think is very good. It's not 5 star but it's certainly competitive.

If you copy and paste the hotel description in google, it should take you to http://www.hotelsrevealed.co.uk which reveals the hotel.

I got holiday inn at kings cross with a pool, 4* but definitely wasn't! 4*. The pool was the only good bit.

To be fair, a hotel having a Pool may well mean it reaches 4* classification.
We have stayed in some pretty poor 5* and some pure class 3* hotels, facilities gain star ratings but dont always get you the best hotels.

From the description it sounds like The Tower Hotel. Ugly from the outside, but excellent on the inside, and a fantastic location

Nope - that only shows one in Covent garden and that is only a four star.
I am pretty sure that the hotel in the description above is the Grange Tower Bridge Hotel. If it is, I would highly recommend as its a lovely hotel, beautiful rooms, very modern. I've seen there rooms for sale at over £300 per night, so if you can get it for £80 that is a bargain!
Cold. Lastminute. Bunch of illegal scammers operating indian call centres beyond the reach of law. Any problem and you'll spend hours on the phone listening to their complete and utter lies. Their staff clearly get commission/bonus for denying changes, forcing you into thinking you need to buy another when you clearly don't. Most dishonest company i've seen in a long time.
Just don't use them. A deal isn't a deal if they're going out of their way to screw you over.
"5 Stars" relates to the features offered by the hotel and not necessarily the rating.

This is true. I've been to some very shabby 4 stars, where the staff were very poor and apathetic. Henry the Eighth in London springs to mind. Got given a very poor room, facing roof air cons, until I complained, the sauna was broken and wasn't fixed for days, and the staff would happily chat away whilst customers were waiting.

So , just a stab in the dark , but i am guessing that you wont be endorsing Last Minute then .

Last May I booked a hotel in Scarborough for the two of us through lastminute.com. When I mailed the hotel they told me that my booking was for one - shock! I had confirmation from lastminute that it was for 2 people. I cancelled and got a refund which was harder than you imagine, I had to send three emails to lastminute before I received a response saying, yes thay got it wrong but no apology. Imagine my position if I had turned up at the hotel and been asked for another £100 for my partner to stay when I had a print out stating 2 guests. I'm unsure whether I could have claimed it from lastminute using the small claims court.
