A bargain for this cult classic starring the late Rowdy Roddy Piper, great looking steelbook amd works out cheaper than the standard blu-ray. That 10% off code can be used on a few other steelbooks that ill link to in first post, few others at a good price aswell.

Classic, any word on the quality of the picture on this release?

Very good transfer. Has nice extras to, including a commentary by John Carpenter and Roddy Piper

Excellent thank you, one of the best films from this period.

Brilliant, brilliant film. Loved the slow build up. The typical Carpenter reliance/ brilliance of individual character portrayal (e.g the priest who spends no more than 5 minutes on screen in total but owns his scenes 'let me feel your face').

Based on the short novella 8 o'clock in the morning by Ray Nelson.
Superb story, superb film.
I can never get the codes to work for me but still bought it

I dunno why. In this case it does work. Sometimes the 5% off ZVC5 code doesn't work on certain salebitems.

Note this code also stacks with the 3 for £20 offer, although there are only a few steel books.
Still some good films though. Ended up around £6.90 a piece for They Live, Buried, Cold in July steel books and Love Exposure blu ray.

That'll sit nicely next to my Big Trouble In Little China steelbook  Need to hunt down some other Carpenter goodies as I slowly move my collection into HD.
Unfortunately a few John Carpenter steelbooks are now out of print such as Halloween and The Thing. Regretted never buying the steelbook of Big Trouble in Little China, could of had it for £10ish but was being to tight fisted at the time.

I have the steelbooks for The Thing* and Halloween. I'm hoping for Prince of Darkness to come out in the UK, all I could find is a US import which is a bit pricey.
Edit - my mistake, only have the regular edition of The Thing.

Prince of Darkness is Region A locked anyway unfortunately. Some still play over here but as a rule of thumb any bluray released by Shout Factory is Region A locked.
Theres a company over here called MediumRare theyve been releasing a lot of that companies blu-rays over here as Region B for the UK lately , so the potential is there in future.

Is this the uncut version ?

Ive never heard mention of it being cut or noticed anything. So I'd assume its always been uncut on DVD/bluray. Except for on tv ofcourse to which it may get cut in places.

Ah I see. I'll keep a look out, it's always good to find old horror / scifi gems that have been cleaned up and restored.

Yeah theres a few of my favourites i want but are America only unfortunately . I want Nightbreed but its region A only. Id like the original Fright Night to but its mega rare as they only made about 500 of em in America. Same with John Carpenters Vampires. But it's about £30 from America though its region free
Limited edition if you fancy treating yourself hah. Comes with a slip cover to i think. Same company who released the Fright Night bluray, which people ask a ridiculous amount for. Theres a French version to but the transfer and extras arent as good
Great film, great price. One of the best Carpenter films and not a bad transfer. I paid £9.99 for the regular Amaray edition...so save a quid and get nicer packaging! Win-win!

The original Fright Night is a favourite of mine, I have the European blu-ray version. It looks good to me but I haven't seen the other transfer for comparison. That's cool though, I'm sure all of these films will find their way over at some point
