Seems like a very good price for a good quality 5 channel speaker set! If I had the room both physically and financially I would certainly entertain these seeing that just the centre speaker goes for not far off this price!
Hope this is helpful to others. You can find the blurb on Richer's website so I will save pasting it here.

Before reading your comment I almost made the mistake of assuming that aesthetics could be a personal thing - you know, as if I have the right to personal taste or the option to buy products based on my existing décor or environment.
Thanks for informing me that these are ugly, I could have ended up with a living room that looked different to yours, phew!
Yes, quite a good price I think. They are reasonably heavy for their size so probably quite well built. Quite why they need to be magnetically shielded nowadays, it can't imagine, when did you last see a tubed television or monitor? Tannoy is a well respected British make, though probably made in China nowadays. Must be much much better than the 'surround sound' bars which seem to be so popular nowadays. How do you get surround sound from one bar in front of you!!!

Very good price for the set. I have similar Tannoy speakers and they are pretty amazing quality.

The shield will stop them picking up your mobile as well as interference from other sources, like wifi and RF.

I doubt it, that sort of interference is not stopped by magnetic shielding of that type, and hardly likely to interfere with loudspeaker output circuits anyway.

So I guess Tannoy is a bit like Hoover. I never realised that is where "could you put a call out over the tannoy" came from.
Instore only so good luck finding them, the majority will be ex demo.

If they are Ex-Demo they will only be listed in the clearance section on their site - but this is on the standard page so should be available, and if not in stock at your local store could be transferred in. I've not confirmed this however!
Good deal too - I have the V1's and love them

The Tannoy VR1s are a touch under £50 a pair at Richer Sounds right now:

I think he did realise it was an opinionated comment which offers nothing as to whether this is a good deal or not. Some opinions can be useful with respect to a deal, this one not so much. Unless any potential buyers were planning on having you over for some "Netflix and chill" and were hoping these speakers would be what wowed you into the bedroom

Bought a Tannoy Sub bass speaker about 30 years ago when I was in a band, cost us over £800.00 then, this thing used to move air no mistake, the poor thing recently got left outside over winter by our bass player in the rain, frost snow etc, plugged it in the other night expecting it not to work but it does, amazing quality Tannoy, it's never even so much as been repaired and it will still move your pint across the table.

Very good price for a set of medium sized standmounts (130mm cone)...worthy of consideration for anyone on a budget that has the space in preference to satellite speakers, especially if you shop around for a decent price on a subwoofer.

Looks like it should be fine! Amp can take 6 to 16ohm speakers. These will likely push your amp to it's power limits however looking at the specs so make sure it's well vented.
